Bringing back great memories of our old rugby league super stars. 👍
Nice video Wow I can’t believe Billy Slater made his NRL debut in 2003
2:20 Paul gallen chasing down slater in the open, but slater scores the try regardless
What a great highlight
Paul Gallen wearing 11 and Slater wearing 3. What a weird sight
Same year and teams as the first NRL ps2 game. Those were fun times
I like this era. I was about 13 at the time and playing jrl, good stuff.
I remember listening to this game live on the radio.
😍😍😍
From 22 points down The mighty Storm get the bickies....
Miss these Cronulla jerseys
I’m not a Cronulla fan but those jerseys and the black version were my favourites in the nrl. I also loved that 01-02-03 team.
I miss their Super League jerseys from 1997-2000.
what a game
The fact peachy didn’t play 10+ origins is a crime.
The dwarf vs the jockey 🤫😂
When rules were simple for us simpletons🤣🤣🤣
Greg Bird used to play 6, wow
Bird at 6, Gal on an edge and Slater in the centres 😵
Weirdest pass ever from Bai to Bell. And Gallen was quick in running Billy down.
Very rugby union 🤣
Gees Gal had some speed
How bad are their defense on both sides...
Don't think anybody noticed that the winning try Matt geyer doesn't ground the ball he puts it on his foot
Clearly scored between his legs... the front view..
22-0 after 18 mins
Then re-took the lead 32-24 with under 5 minutes left to play & should’ve held on to win from there.
2 costly mistakes that led to Melbourne tries, all Matthew Rieck had to do was hold the ball & just run up get tackled rinse & repeat till the siren sounds.
Kimmorley did not need to do a grubber kick like that, kick the ball out to waste time & pack a scrum or do a big bomb hoping for a Melbourne mistake and if they catch the ball they would’ve need over 90m to gain to score.
This game is what marked the beginning of the end of the successful John Lang era at the Sharks & began years of misery thanks to Chris Anderson’s ridiculous regime. He killed this club by booting many top players, one prime example being Preston Campbell at the time who was a multiple Dally M medalist, and caused and uprising within the playing group, one being having a feud with David Peachey which sparked turmoil within the club and wanted to transform the entire club culture & winning ways to his style of play he had at Melbourne which didn’t suit the team.
Under John Lang this Sharks team had many successful years making the finals almost every year in the ARL, runners up in Super League & NRL under Lang winning the Minor Premiership in 99 and making it to the Prelims in 99 (a year they should’ve won the GF), 01 & 02. How this gun team didn’t win a Premiership under Lang still astounds me, they always chocked at the death, then Lang went onto win a Premiership at Penrith in only his second season over there transforming a wooden spooners side (in 2001) into a successful one.
This game killed the confidence of the club for many years to come having only one successful year, 2008 (2005 was decent finishing 7th but got knocked out in week 1 against a red-hot Dragons at the time 28-22) under Ricky Stuart being 3rd on the ladder (equal 1st on points alongside Manly & Melbourne) before the ASADA scandal again demoralized the club even further before they finally became a powerhouse again under the Shane Flanagan era & now back to being a winning culture under Craig Fitzgibbon with quality players.
They won in 2016, isnt that the most successful? Lol
