A children's card game
People dont realize this but Yugioh is actually STILL the LARGEST playing card game in the world. On the global scale it dwarfs magic the gathering and its WAAAAAAAAY more complex now with master rule 5. I took a 10 year break, came back to it and its still just as fun as I remember. The anime.....eeehhhh not so much.
I hope the game continues to stay around for a long time.
You do know that the newer sets kinda threw the whole cheap yet reliable strategies to the trash. Whoever bought 3xof the salamangrear structure deck got more bang for their buck for 2 years. Cards still worth what a new one would have cost you 2 yrs ago.

@@yazan774 I partly agree with you the first time I watched it I thought it didn't live up to it. But then I got into the characters such as sartorius, chazz and the other characters like jessie. When I tried to compare it to Marik and Bakura it was disappointing but when I looked at it from a fresh point of view I actually liked it better then the original series. Plus the card games are far shorter in GX which is nice.

I'm not sure about the mat rules, but in Duelist Kingdom you're not allowed to attack if the other person has no monster on the field. The opponent has to try to draw a monster and place it on the field, or else they automatically lose if they didn't draw a card. But you can attack directly using spells/traps cards and certain effects of monster cards.
But in regards to the original comment, I think Pegasus would die of a heart attack if the God cards were ever summoned in his tournament 🤣🤣 he was too afraid of them. Traumatized the man just creating them

Actually if you read the manga, the group had to do multiple challenge to get to the grandpa and hes not feeling well from the scary 3d holographic battle he did in a special box where every monster where materialised and the 3 dragon of kaiba scared him and he also destroyed the card if front of him because he wanted to own all the copy (3 after he destroyed 1)

Edit: the name of the old card was called kagemusha of the blue flame and the new card is called kagemusha of the six samurai. There's actually some lore behind the card which i didn't know but it was really interesting.

@@menaatefadly Well, yes, but actually no. The anime (at least in English) claimed the weird clown guy who pretended to be Kaiba in Duelist Kingdom was actually "Kaiba's evil side brought back from the Shadow Realm by Pegasus". In the manga, Yami DID do the Season 0 mind break, but so that Kaiba could put himself back together to the way he wanted to be (during which time he was a vegetable in a wheelchair). But then Pegasus claimed that either he killed Kaiba or Kaiba killed himself, and the clown guy was instead a "ghost ventriloquist" duelist who would "channel" vengeful ghosts to duel through a puppet (unfortunately, that variation was lame, especially since the audience already knew kaiba was alive by that point. "he's channeling the spirit of Kaiba!" No he's not you dummy.)
I always wondered how Kaiba could destroy a card that is important enough to put 90% of his identity into. But even if it’s not a rule yet you cannot have three of the same card in a deck.
