I was an international student in 2005 and it was the case that we had to pay tuition fees a semester in advance and if you couldn’t pay by the fourth week of the semester then your details were passed to the Home Office for visa cancellation. If you had compelling circumstances why you can’t pay you’d be allowed to enter into a payment scheme to pay the default fees monthly as a one off. In 2012, the government cancelled some universities licences for enrolling international students whom could not pay, were not genuine etc. Google London Metropolitan University. This is where understanding local politics helps. This is just a re-announcement of what has been existing government policy for almost 2 decades. English requirements have also been lowered or increased to lower or increase student numbers. Here’s what has also happened. Since 2014, the government has cut funding for the Home Office which has meant that these policies have not been enforced. And they are not increasing funding and instead putting the onus on universities. What has happened in the UK since 2004 is that there has been a boom in private colleges that recruit inter students and that’s where a lot of flouting of rules happens. This is where the crackdown will likely happen. Again, there’s an election in 6 weeks. The current government has been announcing a raft of policies in other areas that it knows it won’t deliver because it will no longer be in power. Pay attention to what the opposition also says because they will likely be the government in 6 weeks. Let’s check in a month or two after the election to see what the policy settings are. However, I agree that if you plan to be a student if you don’t have the money just don’t use that route. The economy is tough and you might not be able to work, study, pay bills and fees. As Asy said. Study from a small pool of in demand courses like healthcare, education, construction. You can always change your career when you become a permanent resident. If possible, just study in Nigeria and relocate as a skilled worker. International tuition fees are now extortionate and I’m not sure it’s worth it if you’re not attending a top university. PS. The UK introduced a visa for High Potential Individuals(HPI) in 2023. If you graduate from a global top 50 university then you can apply for a work visa with no job offer but will need proof of funds, not a lot though. I can't believe that I watched till the end. At 27-28 mins of the video was so encouraging and your choice of words were super. I live in the UK, honestly people are going through Alot. I managed to escape and got graduate visa recently. They've slowed down on the issuance of the visa because I got mine within 4wks instead of 8wks. I wish everyone struggling in the UK good luck because it's that hot right now.
You think these countries are not watching what is going on. Luxembourg is quite expensive and not easy to get as you think as well as Finland, can tell you freely.
