Real Live Cave Music: Marvel at the World's Largest Instrument

- The world’s largest musical instrument is located in one of the most unlikely places - deep underground. Sitting atop a pedestal, the Great Stalacpipe Organ looks like a normal church organ, but instead of metal pipes, uses stalactites around the cave to produce a haunting sound.

Came to listen to the music and heard nothing but a guy babbling...
exactly...
Yes indeed.
czcams.com/video/HsKUUn29tSs/video.html for the beautiful music.
😡
He seemed to be there by himself.
Guy 1:"You're a musician too, what do you play"?
Guy 2: "The EARTH".
*plugs a electric piano to the ground*
@@Evilcarrot507 lmao
My family visited the caverns something like 30 years ago. My mom was a church organist and convinced the staff to allow her to play it. I wish I could remember what she played though.
Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, oh, some music in the background, talk, talk, talk, etc..
Some things to tighten up on for next time: less talking, more playing.
Amen
Hundred percent
Go spend some money and see it.
@@adaptingnicely3767 Exactly, that's why they are not 'giving away the farm'.
Agreed, I came here to hear the instrument, not some dry dingus babbling about it.
I'm here from a musical instruments comparison video
Reigarw yeah
same bro
Same
IN THE HALL OF A MOUNTAIN KING
In the hall of the cave
"what instrument do you play?'
*" C A V E S O U N D S"*
I would like to hear..... No time for caution, on this organ.
It would be very soft
1927: We will have faster cars in the future
1957: CAVE ORGAN
the dripping water is so eerie yet calming, i love it so much
I saw this thing when I went a few years ago and it sounds very calming
if it's so wonderfully beautiful why did you talk over the entire piece?
Because at half a million visitors per year they can't run it on an empty bank account.
There are stalactite samples in the virtual synth Omnisphere, but this sounds a million times more majestic.
absolute mind blowing.
I've been fortunate enough to be able to visit the Luray Caverns twice. Each time the organ is just beautifully chilling. It really is worth a visit at least once in your life if you're CON-US/CA. Unforgettable experience!
I wanna go jamming with mother nature
Stunningly...And can I just listen to this organ somewhere without chatter?
I live in this area. Can confirm it's the only thing of note in a 60-mile radius 😎
I'm right now speechless, I cannot find a word to express the sentiment I'm feeling now on discovering this amazing StalacPipe Organ, this is magnificent, way beyond any word could describe.
I have visited 3 times and each time heard this organ…it’s hauntingly beautiful. Love Luray Caverns.
Caverns of Luray, visited in early 60's, the organ and the fried eggs have stayed with me all these years, I'm 67 now and remember the entire place so well.
I live on the other side of mountain. Been here a few times. And it is cool. But.... This cave is the most commercial cave that we have. If you want to go to a cave that is as close to a wild cave as you can get, I'd check out Endless Caverns or Grand Caverns. Endless was used as a speak easy during Prohibition. And Grand Caverns is the oldest operating show cave in the US.
Far out! This is a Spectacular Instrument!!! I found it looking for Cave Recordings... and Wow i Applaud the Inventor!!!
The cave is dope. I just wish it was longer with a song demo. The info was amazing, I just need the song too.
You guys got great videos, you deserve 1 million subscribers
This is such a wonderful and magical experience to hear live
Who came from the size instrument comparaison ?
Gallox me!
oh, what instrument do you play?
I play the C A V E
That's very cooool... Never even knew that this place even existed... Now it's something that I'd really like to "one day" check out if possible!
Here because PBS has thier comments turned off. This video is about to have a lot more views
I just got back from there. It is awesome. Please go.
One day a stalactite will fall and only then will you know to stop
Great stalacpipe organ cave: I’m the biggest instrument in the world!
Earth harp: hold my strings
this is so beautiful
Thats sick guys!!! Keep it up!!
Literally the coolest thing ever
Beyond expression!!
Yes but will it still be in tune in 150,000 years?
Its all fun and games until the whole cave starts vibrating
Imagine entering a cave then you hear music
Everybody gangsta till the cave plays cave noises
We visited and heard the instrument in 1965. I must try to find the music cassette we bought then. Fond memories of our stay with our friends in Washington. We are from England.
Wauw! Jaw dropping.
That's awesome
Cave music
Fabulous!
Dude, my family lives basically right next to this place, and apparently it's the largest cavern in the US. We've been there quite a few times, and only recently did I find out about the fact that you can literally play the cave. Now I kinda wish I hadn't stayed in England.
this is amazing
My Gift to You, Oh Love Eternal
How could the instrument be truly 'one with nature' if certain portions of the stalactite needs to be chopped off in order to produce the right notes?
It's at least cool.
@@raginplayer2665 he just said they lied because they said it is one with nature
@@docaxolotl1598 they're still using the stalactites tho
Seriously?
For the people who just want to hear the instrument playing, look at the first or second related video on the right ;)
Wow amazing
I loved going to the caverns it is super spooky
If you want to hear it, then listen to Pepe Deluxe "In the Cave".
Thank you SO MUCH Nico!! I added this to my sounds and music folder. It is insanely beautiful. Here's the link for everyone! czcams.com/video/rkvvcN6rt-I/video.html
Just imagine your explore if a cave and you literally here boss music
I went there yesterday!!
I have just found out about this! WHAT A SPECTACULAR IDEA!! Now play some Rammstein!
This dude is awesome
i cant believe this video isnt popular xD
Wish there had been 10 or 15 seconds of just the music w/o the voice overlay.
How do you fix it breaks? What if a mallet broke
I was in a lot of caves like this
i wanna see someone playing megalovania theme
that's what i searched for.
Why does it have all those stops? I could see it doing maybe octaves but not a whole lot else. I wish I knew more about how it works.
Sounds like someone playing the moonlight sonata and blathering
I wanna hear it play Gymnopedie
There are two on this continent the other one is in Cave of the Winds in Colorado, it's not actively played, there could be more in the world 🤘
let's not act like we need more, creating these just destroys thousands of years in terms of nature's work. Caves are to be left as untouched as possible
Imagine playing megalovania in here it will be special thing for me.
Maybe a version without the voice, with subtitles instead? Come on.
he needs to play Toccata and Fugue damn it
Came here cuz of regarw lmfao
Yea
Same
Don’t let Rick Wakeman know. That will be the end of the stalactites!
So that's where the cave sounds in Minecraft come from.
Could a fellow organist visit this cavern and play this organ?
Ive been there :D
Dear sir, (or .some authority in the matter) after watching the video I have an overwhelming desire to see,but more specifically understand and play once. Can you help or give counsel?
I wonder if you played a black midi in there the whole cave would collapse or not
Bjork is taking it on tour for her live show
오 대박 와 신기하다 우리나라에도 있으면 좋겠다
wow.......that's all i can say on this one.....wow
Nice ! But where can I listen to this music ??
the park has a CD of music played on the organ....
My brother went later years and someone to,d him he had had nightmares from the pics he'd shown him.
I used to go caving. Seen ice in a winter time trip. Slipped and slid down a long slide. Another time there was no place to grab as I was starting to begin a downward slide. I looked at my friend above me and he looked at me. We both what was happening... I was sliding down on the mud and had nothing to grab and stop. He was feet ahead me and no way to reach me. There was a small potato sized rock barely sticking out of the buried mud. I reached for it not knowing it would pull off. It held. I could only get that Little Rock hand hold. Behind me I'd slid off backward and head down into low water and rock I am a religious man. You can ba sure I thanked my plessings. My friend teaching me was Lechiguilla qualified. I'm 68" there's still things that were just either creepy and nuts. Years long back I went to the what does your dad do for a hobby day,
Everyone in class wrote me a letter and years later some still asked if I still went craving.
It sounds like a glass harmonica
wow :)
Been there
I want someone to play One Winged Angel or Dearly Beloved
The Wanamaker Organ in PA, Boardwalk Hall Organ NJ are all claiming to be the largest Instrument
Why all those stops and crap, when it can’t actually use any of them
Lol real life dripstone cave lol
So this is where the minecraft music was recorded
Isn't this a celesta? It's definitely not an organ, as there's nothing "wind" about it. This is a chromatic percussion
Hey I went there yesterday with my friends 😂
Carlsbad caverns take notes.
How do they keep it safe? I thought stalactites were fragile. What keeps them from falling down because of the vibrations?
Stalactites are made of whatever minerals were in the water and are essentially the same thing as the calcium that builds up in your tap after some time. If you strike them with a sledgehammer or kick them they will break but if it's only the mallets then they're risilient enough.
How tf do you tune it though
Beautiful now play promise (reprise) from silent hill 2-
Can I play this in my school band?
I went here!
This is the third video I've found about this cave that's just a guy talking.
