  • PLEASE DO NOT MAKE MECHA REQUESTS!!! I will make videos of what I feel like!
    --------------------
DX Chogokin Daidenjin! DX 超合金 ダイデンジン!
If there is two things Denjiman gave us it is A. The Sentai Henshin Device and B. the Transforming Mecha. Both needed work though...Denjiman used the Denji Ring (デンジリング) to transform and Daidenjin barely transforms. That doesn't mean it's not cool though...
Daidenjin (ダイデンジン) was the transformed Robot form of the Denji Fighter (デンジファイター) ship. Denji Fighter was stored inside their carrier shuttle Denji Tiger (デンジタイガー) .
Daidenjin comes with an assortment of weapons and parts. Included are four projectile fists (which can be attached two different ways...either to hold the sword or to make a punching fist), a bag of missiles, the Denjiken (デンジ剣) sword, the Daidenjin Boomerang (ダイデンジンブーメラン) and the Denjiball (デンジボール). The missiles can fire from the cockpit of Denjifighter.
So how does this toy hold up today? Well, if you're a fan of Galaxymega from Megaranger, you'd probably like this one aswell. Be warned though...it's hard to tell from the video...but this guy is pretty small. Battle Fever Robo and Daidenjin are only the size of action figures, pretty much on scale with those Sentai Vinyl figures they make now. It's definitely a bummer this guy couldn't be on scale with the rest of the 80s mecha, but that really doesn't matter too much I suppose. Daidenjin is still a kickass mecha. The sword is excellent, the detail is great (my Daidenjin isn't in the best shape in close-up shots), definitely the first great Sentai Mecha toy. It's been reissued three times since 1980.
Interesting note: This toy was infact released in America in 1984. Bandai America released five Sentai Mecha in 1984 under it's "Godaikin" line. The mecha released were Daidenjin, Sunvulcanrobo, Gogglerobo, Dynarobo and Biorobo. They included all the same parts (even the Dynaman card is included with Dynarobo) but featured some pretty boring boxart. It's definitely worth seeking out either the American or Japanese releases. American ones generally run for cheaper, but the Japanese versions have better boxart.
