Ibra's overhead kick is the best goal I have ever seen in almost 40 years. I'll never forget that one.

Personally, I always thought that goal was over-ratted. No doubt about the skill and involved but just the fact that the game was over, Sweden were already winning and it was a friendly bring it down for me. Zidane's goal against Leverkusen still strikes all the right cords for me. Also, Denis Bergkamp's goal against Newcastle is my favourite for outrageous skill.
Was at that game. England were terrible but it was an amazing goal.
Was also "lucky" to be at Newcastle v Arsenal when Bergkamp scored.

Salah's goal didnt win the goal of the week, the goal of the month, goal of the season for either Liverpool, Salah's own accord or the Premier league for that matter BUT did win the Puskas award? There’s no logic

As a Malaysian I've never even heard of Faiz Subri until he won the Puskas award, and had no idea what he had done since
If you follow local football, then you must had heard of him. After winning the the puskas award, penang got relegated in 2017 and stay there until 2020. Faiz Decide to retire around 2018-19 because no one wanted to sign him. Before returning to M3 league with Perlis and then Kuala Kangsar FC.
Overall a mediocre player when compare to other local midfielder.

He had a couple last year that were each miles better. The BR cartoon series "Champions" made fun of that more than once.

Fun fact about Faiz Subri. After the award, he still signed as a Penang player, retired for a while, joined an amateur side Northern Lions, re-joined Penang, and is currently a free agent. He also almost became an assistant coach for Hungarian national Teqball team

@@Lumpcano Because the resulting XI wouldn't be as good - if a player was never capped, it means that even within their own country (let alone the entire world), they weren't first, second, or third choice in that position over the duration of their career.

The story of they lost the club, how the F A allowed that and won’t allow that anymore.
How they were very close to moving to ireland

I thought the inclusion of Subri was a little strange, given he's from a fairly unrenowned league, but I just watched it. That is absolutely wild. I think there's even more curl on that than Papiss Cisse's outrageous goal against Chelsea.

2 hours since the video was uploaded and again story seems to repeat itself. I am not if my Tweet to you have had anything with this video happening, when I pointed out the comment sections and ask what you think in general. I am digressing now. Anyway I can see that putting Oleksy first have as usual caused a stir. I really don’t understand why they have to be bitter about it. Yes, Oleksy is not the best player there is. Yes, his goal maybe is not as magnificent as some other entries, but sheer fact of how impressive is for that person to have his leg amputated and still go on and fight, and do something that gives all other ppl hope that they can achieve everything cannot be overstated. We have Olympians and we have Paralympians, and believe me that Paralympians in my humble opinion at least deserve even more praise. Imagine the strength of the character they have, the strength of character that Oleksy have to do what he always loved to do, even after losing a leg. HITC Sevens, Alfie, thank you so much for that video, it really made my day.

Simply because his opponent scored a better goal. You don't just give the award to the best name... . Unless you are Salah and no one liked when it happened.

watched your video on the most prolific scorers in history which made me think about messi's 91 goal year. Typically international friendlies are counted but not club ones. Of course how competitive they are and how valid counting them may depend but if we count beyond "official goals" do any players exceed messi's tally or exceed 100 in a year? maybe Bican in the 40's? Would love to see a video with the answer to that question as well as the couple highest tallies if so.

Hey Alfie, could you do a video on Glentoran and or their 1914 Vienna Cup? They were the first team from the British Isles to win a European trophy. Their stadium alone has seen plenty of history, especially off the field as it’s right next to the shipyards and was even bombed during the Belfast Blitz. The Oval was actually hit by bombs as it was mistaken for an oil storage facility. Nearly everything was destroyed for Glentoran during the Blitz. The Vienna Cup being one of the only things surviving the attack. The Historical Belfast podcast did a fine piece on it but I feel Glentoran deserve the HITC Seven’s treatment as well. Also, George Best was turned down by Glentoran as a boy because he was “too small.”
Messi's 2015 Copa del Rey goal was amazing, never understood why it didn't win the Puskas that year.

In all seriousness, Puskas was always my dad’s favourite player from a young boy after he saw him playing for RM in that legendary 1960 ECF at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Said he was the best player he ever saw 😎

I'm gonna put in another request for a hypothetical starting XI for the East African Federation, a proposed federation (big surprise there) of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. None of them are exactly what you'd call powerhouse footballing nations, with the exception of the DRC, but with plenty of players from those nationalities in the French and German leagues there's bound to be some diamonds in the rough. I did actually send Alfie a Twitter DM detailing my own attempt at an EAF first team, complete with a kit design and a subs bench, but since that didn't get a response I can only assume it got lost in the post. It's not like he'd ignore an unsolicited private message about putting together a national football team for a country that doesn't exist, right? Right?
This is request number 24; calling it a streak feels a little disingenuous considering I miss days a lot of the time due to my health. I intend to go for as long as I can until Alfie either makes the video or tells me to bugger off. I'm sure you have your own opinions about which is more likely. =]

Alfie, please make a video about the time when the Jordan national team nearly qualified for the 2014 World Cup finals, but lost to Uruguay in the inter-continental play-off round rather comfortably. 14:07 the fans in 2019 may have helped Son to get into the 2019 top 3 but *not* to *win* the 2019 Puskás as the rules were changed after Liverpool fans succeeded in using trickery to get Mo Salah to win over more worthy contenders in 2018 (in particular, the favourite, which was against the Liverpool team). Since that scandal, the governing body has allowed only pundits to choose the winner.
Salah number five is mad no matter what way you put it.
No mention of Valentino Lazaro's amazing scorpion kick goal that in my opinion mainly lost to Lamela due to Puskas also being a bit of a popularity contest... that and it would've been more notable had the goal actually mattered, since it was basically just a consolation goal.
