God bless you. You saved my band
We're gonna see a new wave of bands with keyboard drummers now.
@@kirbymia6209 true, thats kind of sad
@@avator3695 nah it's amazing
@@0xfeedcafe why :(? I really enjoy drummers bang their kit
@@avator3695 yeah but finger druming is so fucking cool like you just need a keyboard to make crazy drums while drums are super big and so loud
I'm more or less OK with the finger drumming technic. But this is one of the best "Essential Finger Drumming Lessons" available. You've covered all the basics. Keep up with thins nice videos!
Agreed!
dom:don't worry, just play slowly
me: trying to figure out how to play ghost notes for 15 mins
Hey Dom, I'd like to say you were a big part of the reason for selling me a Yamaha Montage, and these type of guides in unison with Dr. Mix channel is just stellar. I am looking to make a break into the house genre and I adore both your sound design content and Dr. Mix. Much love take care guys!
Hi Dom, I think you are absolutely FABULOUS with your finger drumming skills✌🏼😎👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤩 I’m a pianist and teacher and I’m just learning sooo much from you in these videos! You’re a terrific instructor/teacher too👍🏼👍🏼✨ very easy to follow your instructions and your delivery is crisp and straightforward, and never boring….keeps us interested 🎹🥁🥳💃🏻 I have one mistake to point out to you in this video though -- at 3.50 mins, you said “then we have our crashes, our crashes live on C# and D”….but you actually played C# and A. Cheers my friend 🙏🏼🙏🏼🎹🥁❤️💕
You are a true master of finger drumming. Awesome, Dom!
Beautiful. Brilliant video. Your channel is growing from strength to strength with this kind of golden content. Thank you Doctor Mix.
Ahh thanks so much!!
Loved everything especially the skulls on the turntables :)
Thanks for this tutorial! I’ve always struggled finger drumming and never figured out the best hand placement. I’m going to get back to practicing with your tips!
Wow you could create a course just on this subject.. The way you do this is mind blowing!!! Thank you for showing us the right way of doing this on keyboard!
Thanks so much for making a simple getting started video..so many other 'beginner' ones start from the perspective of assuming people just know all the basics..and launch straight into advanced topics... Very well done.. And really helpful!
This is awesome! Love this!
Thanks so much for this! I've been looking all over for an instruction of which keys correspond to which drums.
was just about to learn it myself THANK YOU
This is my first inquiry, I both enjoyed your video and learned something useful. Thank you.
ohhhh thank you!!!!! that's what i love this channel and i love you too!❤🎹♩🎶🎤
Excellent Video! Learn so much from this breakdown of Finger Drumming. Thank you :) :)
The video i was looking for. Thank u. Awesome
Finally someone showed how it's done. Thanks Dom! :) Is there any chance you can make a bonus video where you explain how do the same on pads? I have Ableton Push 2, it has 64 pads. IF you showed the best setup on 16 pads it would be very helpful!
Kaspars Vilde also have the Push2 - i think if we figure out a way of having our hands setup in the right position and pass it should work. It’ll take some time to get it exactly right and it is a great idea as well.
That's a great idea for a follow up video
I love these machines and I wish I could play like you do ... Anyway I enjoy watching you start using these machines to make music and rhythms fill the shortage that hinders me and thank you for the information .... I follow you from Algeria
Thank you. I needed this a lot.
Great video! Thanks!
I really enjoyed that, thank you very much.
Wow.. thank you for make this awesome tutorial. 👍
Amazing lessons brother ❤️😘. Keep teaching 🤘🙌🎶.
Excellent video.
wow this lesson is worth watching. great
Very useful, thanks Dom. :)
Great video.😊
I really love your sensitivity in the keyboard. My VST for drums is always hard and it makes it sound with no dynamic. That's why I always lower the touch setting on my Keyboard.
cool stuff man, big thanks.
Nice lesson, thanks! I found it easier to play hihats with altered fingers (like 2-3-2-3) that because F# and G# are different hihat opening positions. Kick, snare and toms are doubled in adjacent white keys for most drum VSTi.
awesome video!
Amazing.
TOP TOP TOP - THX alot. Super Informations.
Too many views with few likes. I hope all the people try to produce videos to appreciate people like you. Thanks

So good pro
Ghost Notes saving lifes! Thank you!
Awesome
Aloha from Honolulu. Awesome! Mahalo!
thanks
Very nice, I was almost surprised that Apple MainStage Drum Kits also use the GM mapping :) I also thought "how can you do this?" So far I've always resorted to Garageband's pre-programmed drum loops, and that's fine as a foundation for developing a song. But, playing it yourself is so much more gratifying. Thanks so much!
cool cool. like the ghost notes
Could you do more videosss about this
This is awesome, thank you so much for this great tutorial! I am also totally blind, and although I've been playing piano/keyboard for many years, I was never taught finger drumming. I've been playing with it a bit on my own, but there are things I still haven't been able to figure out yet. for example, I know which part of the drum kit is mapped to which key, but I'm having trouble figuring out the exact fingering technique. For example, on the right hand, I use my index, middle and ring finger on the high hats, but what about for the crash and the ride? I find myself not using my thumbs and pinkies at all, but I'm wondering if perhaps I should use my right pinkie for the crash? What about for the toms? If possible could you please send me a reply with a guide to which finger you use on each part of the drum kit? Also, out of curiosity, which software are you using for the demo? I've used standalone keyboards for years, but I ditched standalone keyboards back in 2014 in favour of an iPad and a midi keyboard controller. I currently use GarageBand as well as a little app called iSoundBank, which allows you to import sf2 sound fonts. I have some nice GM sound fonts in there which have some cool drum kits. Anyway, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance! Keep up the great work! :)
Yay very useful =D
I Think This Is The Best Way To Learn To Play Drum.
Hello. I am from Tajikistan and i subscriber for this channel)
Futuvva Good for you. I am from Scotland.
As a keyboard player I had to look up what "ghost notes" were. I find that the quote by Debussy on how to play "Clair de Lune" was very helpful to get the ghost note sound. He said (paraphrased), "Play with a very light touch as if your fingers were hovering above the keys but not actually contacting them". I think another analogy is to pretend you have an egg between your finger and the key. I'm finding this video very useful and will see what else you have to say on the subject after I practice your techniques diligently. Hopefully there will be additional exercises of various patterns and beats for those of us who do not have a drumming background.
Hi man. Thank you from Russia
First things first: I love your videos, and thanks to you, I'm actually starting to learn this stuff! I believe that when you were talking about crashes, at around the 3:55 mark, you said they go from C# to D. I think you meant "A" instead of "D", especially since you hit "A" on the keyboard at that time. Just wanted you to know that, Dom. Thanks.
Yohan Kim has the best keyboard drumming video ever on his CZcams channel. He is an incredible keyboardist, writer, and arranger. And he's only 16...
just saw the video. i dont understand that guy he is crazy.. wowww insane
@@gaeldilamh2572 Incredible gifted a very focus and hard working musical artist. It's almost hard to believe he is human. Playing several instruments, mastering all the technical things with each keyboard and such, arranging, composing, and performing. He is hard to match, especially at his age.
Very clever
More content please!!!!!!!!!
Nice drum
Sub earned.
Thank you so much it was great 👍 can you please also teaching bass guitar finger thanks 🙏 ❤️
How to Finger Drum on Fatar semi-weighted keyboard, nice!
Thanks.🎹🎹🎹👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What a gorgeous 1210 you got there!!! :)
Ricky Rubio teaches finger drumming... Wow!
Dear Dom, Thank you! Super helpful! You inspired me to start finger drumming on a piano keyboard with GM Mapping. I'm trying to learn rudiments like paradiddles: RLRR LRLL. However, I get all tripped up when I try to add the kick drum below the paradiddle in real time. (I've been taking lessons on a program called Melodics which lets me use my MIDI keyboard where other users are probably using real electric drum kits. So I'm trying to mimic acoustic drum techniques.) Any suggestions?
Great video here! Love how you did this. Where are you from? I’m from Puerto Rico and live in Miami, FL now.
Cuba, you live in Cuba.
EightySix it all depends how you feel about it. I’m secure enough to say I live in Miami, FL.
This is an area I have some expertise. Stay tuned. About time I posted sumfin.
Same here 😁😁😁
Please do
Greatest shirt ever.
*Band with 2 keyboard players
"Where's the drummer?" Keyboard player: 😏
excellent lesson and thanks for saving me 250 bucks. I was going to buy a maschine drum pad and now know I don't need one!
So I’m new to all this. I have a keyboard & a laptop with ezdrummer2, I’m not sure I have a cable to connect the two, all my stuff is in boxes right now, but if I do have the right cable... is it as simple as you’re making it like? 😅
6:24 Here
Great, can I practice keyboard drumming on any home keyboard with midi? I’m planning to purchase a Yamaha psr e373
😱😱😱🤩
I used my xp 50 drumkits for my fingers.I want more
Just wanted to ask, if I want to start finger drumming. What midi keyboard should I buy? And how many keys should i buy? Thanks
Here's an idea. You should create a course for Udemy or similar site to teach finger drumming - rock, jazz, reggae, blues, funk grooves... I would pay for it.
Hi , which virtual drums do you use ?
Now that is Rock and Roll. XD
Nice channel 🔥 +1sub
Nice, but that second high hat is the highhat being closed or being choked, not being hit with a stick.
But the routing part is super helpful.
Okay dude now this is something I didn't know you could do wtfff
As in "I saw you playing keyboards but I never saw you finger drumming"
