@@MasterOfTheUniverse2 It's a reference towards his alt fetish twitter account called "zillylb" the "Zilly" word was used as a placeholder for the chef's name during it's first release until it was removed from the game.
Meepcity was honestly really fun. But the developer doing nothing, lack of moderation, cheap excuses, and the playerbase growing worse, The downfall was already visible. This game should probably be a lesson to upcoming game devs that want to make hangout games similar to meep city. Because it's only too late before your game comes to ruin because of the lack of managing your game to be safe for roblox.

Its like those minigames where you have to click so the line stays where it has to stay. If you click enough, you go outside the part where it has to stay (aka overmoderation) but if you dont click and do nothing, the line goes down a you lose (aka no moderation).

As a Roblox veteran who joined in 2015, it is disappointing to see such a great game being neglected. I remember playing it everyday until Alexnewtron didn't make any more great updates and I left the game. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. No matter what happens, Meepcity will always have a place in the hearts of Roblox veterans like me. But every story must come to an end.
I'm a veteran from 2016. Meepcity is my earliest memories. I quit a little back. I just stopped playing I miss it though.

I joined back in 2016 the first games I played were work at a pizza place crystals bakery and MeepCity with my siblings all the time
Its kinda ironic that in the beginning the song was "its just a burning memory" because it kinda describes meepcity. its just a ashen ruin of something that used to be wonderful, and part of many childhoods. Even though the flames have settled, it may as well be gone, nothing more than a mere memory.
I left Meepcity after they removed parties. But it is really sad how instead of Roblox deleting these inappropriate avatars, Meepcity had to do something about it which ment removing parties. I’m not mad at Meepcity for removing the parties, I’m mad at Roblox for failing to ban these disgusting avatars. Because believe it or not they where some parties that weren’t infested with slenders. I might return to Meepcity one day. But we’ll have to see.

Hats off to Widgeon for making the plaza with none of these problems proving that it was 100% AlexNeutrons fault.

I actually liked the parties back then, but only in the gaming section. It was nice seeing people's recreations of the settings of certain games and media. Also that you got to talk to people who had the same interests as you. ALSO THE FANDOM MUSIC ON THE BOOMBOXES BEFORE PARTIES WENT TO SHIT AND ROBLOX REMOVED AUDIOS!! Literally there would be a bunch of ppl crowding around the boombox, dancing and typing the lyrics in full caps. It was fun at the time!!

Prime Meepcity was incredible & fun. I remember hanging out with my best friend in 2016 or 17, but the game went downhill incredibly fast for reasons stated here.
This should teach a valuable lesson to future roblox developers, to care about their community & game, to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

I really miss going to FNAF parties and genuinely having fun as a kid. Honestly I didn’t even play the toxic parties. Alex could’ve done a million things to change meepcity parties. I know children grow up. They want to feel like adults, and date, and drink, and all that-but man. If given the chance, I would go back to the days when meepcity was filled with children who wanted to have fun and socialize with others their age. Now it’s just so…it needs no explination.
In its essence, Roblox MeepCity was intended to be a place where players of all ages could connect and express themselves in a safe and welcoming environment. It was about building bonds and fostering a sense of community among users from different corners of the world. These parties were meant to be a celebration of unity, a joyful escape from the challenges of reality, and an opportunity to make lasting memories.
Regrettably, the dark shadow of inappropriate behavior has fallen upon these gatherings. We have seen instances of explicit and offensive language, discussions of explicit content, and even actions that are entirely unsuitable for the intended audience of the game. It is disheartening to witness such behavior, especially considering that MeepCity is a game primarily targeted at young players, who should be free to explore and enjoy the digital world without exposure to harmful element.

I remember being obsessed with this game in the past, I had a pretty big house with a lot of furniture and several different pets, but eventually I fell off since the updates just were not coming. I remember checking it out again some time when the party mansion was implemented, but I realized it just wasn't the same anymore and never got on. It's really sad that that all happened because I have so many good memories playing the game :(

It only went wrong when people started to turn into parties into the condo games doing nasty things. The sad thing is that alexnewtron didn't care about how the parties that where ranned by users who wear bypassed outfits because alexnewtron had a 🌽 addiction. Which is why he made excuses, also why the game had no moderators.

I used to host meepcity parties often. And the specific house I used most was..
A cafe. Specifically, Honey Cafe. It was relatively small compared to the cnp parties, but I loved running it. It was fun. I owned basically every food item in game to make food for my costumers, until parties were removed. I understand the decision, but if Alex just installed moderation instead of removing parties, I could have still been running the cafe I worked so hard on.
That's very creative of you! Other than dumb cnp party stuffs, you managed to make your own cafe to your roleplay customers, truly one of powering imagination on Roblox.

I wish I could've visited it. It sounds cosy and nice. I stopped playing after it all went downhill. Would've loved to visit Honey Cafe and get some nice tea.
Meep city must remove those layers clothing. That's common issue for Meep, also some other slanders use stack layer clothing to make their character to be thick, more like torso and legs. Add less limit for layered clothing, making this issue getting controlled or just make Meep city in to R6 only. That would solve everything besides layer like I said earlier.
Im not sure why people on CZcams r still obsessed with slenders, they’re from 2020, it’s a style, not everyone’s like that and get over it. It’s like saying it’s every Roblox player is a child?
When I was younger, while playing Meepcity, for some reason, I just NEVER went into parties, just because I didn’t want to.
Man, that ended up benefiting me greatly.
Meepcity was fun back then. I remember playing it as my days as a guest. I just walked over to the docks and fished most the time trying to save up for a meep.
Meepcity was a big part of me in my childhood. It was one of the first games I played when I first started my journey on Roblox. It's really sad to see the game fall apart when it was one of my favorite games back in the day. :( It's a shame Alex barely did anything to stop the OD. I'll miss parties too. It was one of the reasons I gained friends and stuff. Also the game parties (Like fnaf or something) were the best. I loved how original people were to re-creating the game and blasting the music on the boombox. Sometimes I wish parties were still here, but there's a reason they were removed. I really hope that next time if anyone is gonna make something similar to Meepcity they will take it seriously to moderate the game.
I'm just sick of weird Roblox players who always wanna ruin a very popular and fun game to the point where the party's get removed like it's honestly so annoying and it makes me both mad and concerned they're parents should ban them from social media until they're 18 or something

Sadly, some parents don’t supervise their own kids and sit down with the kids to tell them what’s wrong and what is right, they just hand the child a phone and expect them to know all the rules and what is crossing the line or not.
True, players like to do some things that I can't say and idk why Alex just makes it think it's ok but, kids see that making them scared and parents are not happy that the game has s*xual content in a children's game.

I liked Meepcity parties. Not THOSE parties, but there were amazing fandom parties with nice people. I was sad when i heard what happened but i knew it had to be done. It was for everyone's good.

What I'm annoyed about is that there were people getting mad that the party feature was removed yet they were part of the problem.
MeepCity is like a country that is about to collapse due to corruption and unstable economy. It's like a city that was once prosperous but now it's a toxic wasteland.
MeepCity really went from being Disney World on the platform to now being how earth looked like at the start of WALL-E

It’s not just keep city, it’s Roblox itself. I’ve never seen anyone since I actually played it regularly 2015-2019 be kind or nice like they were. After I took a break beacsue I lost my account I came back on 2020 and the entire platform was toxic wasteland like you had said. Sure, some old games are still around, but most of them aren’t the same as before and the ones that did stay the same are dry and abandoned.

I had a long break from Roblox around this time, I came back in 2020, I used to love meepcity. I had really good pets and a mansion, and if I didn’t take this break I would have probably been “corrupted” by all the stuff going on. I’m very disappointed in the community, I miss meepcity..
I did as well, after getting my account hacked I decided I was going to take a break because I was heart broken form losing it because I was so young. I came back in 2020 to the new community items in shop and all the weird new styles.
Me too! It was so weird when I came back that I Lowkey avoided roblox for another few years after that until I came back recently.
My god why have I just ran into this now? The way you make the explanations fun by summarizing them and implementing memes to clearen them and to make them not bland is phenomenal. I've watched many summaries of the meep city issue just to look for something I'd actually understand because of what has happened to the game and this was exactly something I'd clearly understand. The video itself was amazing especially the script shortly compacting the explanation to under half an hour. You have my gratitude and a sub, please continue your content.

Meepcity was one of the first games I would play everyday. I started playing Roblox in 2014 and started playing meepcity in 2015-2016 when the game was at it’s prime and I recall making alot of friends. I slowly grew out of the game over the years. Visiting the game now is unfortunate.
I started playing in about 2015 and it was the first Roblox game I’ve ever joined from what I recall. Games like neverland lagoon(I think that’s what it was called) and work at a pizza place are dead games that weren’t quite ruined like meepcity or royale high though. I still miss them. Never would I have thought then that in the future the game would be unrecognizable.
Things don't age well anymore... They age or age poorly. I apologize for edginess here but; all we have left of the better times are memories. Experiences that passed by

I really miss the old meepcity, it was really fun to just roleplay with the areas. Seeing it turn into a heap of burning garbage really sucked, I remember joining it again after a long time of never playing it, just for nostalgia, only to see how much it degraded. I hope this problem is dealt with, meepcity will probably never return to an innocent state, but I really just don’t want anybody else to be able to witness this disgusting stuff.

Honestly, I dropped Meep City once it got rid of parties. Parties were the main way I could connect to people who liked my same interests, like FNaF and Omori
Going into meepcity in 2023 is like digging yourself into some territory that you might not want to deal with.
Although i started playing roblox around late 2015 i didn’t quite get attached to a roblox game until meepcity came out, i think i had started playing meepcity in the first month or even the first few weeks. at the time i was appropriately aged to play the game, i was around 5-7 years old. Roblox was at a weird limbo at the time between being a popular platform and a place to just make games for fun. I had alot of memories with it, for most people nowadays they say their childhood games growing up where mario kart, neopets, club penguin, but now unfortunately i will have to grow up saying that my childhood favorite game was meepcity. the community banished the name, whenever u hear the name meepcity u think of how it is in present day. I tried to play the game for awhile, i had mostly stopped at around maybe late 2018 or mid 2019, i would say meepcity is a perfect example of why to be careful about what u add into the game.

This game honestly had issues from the start, it had a terrible update schedule and alex had already been ignoring basic moderation practices, i even heard recently from game rippers that alex allegedly didn't even update his admin panel since 2016. He legit did not care about the game so much he was possibly banning or muting the very few people back in 2018 with a broken admin panel.
I just got a sudden influx from the notifications, must've been the algorithm. Welcome lads, hope you enjoy the stay.

tbh this happened to every game. it went from mature adults to kids without a proper mental state. like seriously you could go up to 1 person, 1v1, win, and then get called a hacker, exploiter etc. and especially by the weird things they do (like you saw in the first clip) and know things that they definitely shouldn't

This game was my childhood and stress reliever back in quarantine. This really brought my present friends online and I together with parties for sharing thoughts with isolation, COVID and even with character development since some of us have different original characters for role-plays and such. It’s such a shame that MeepCity parties were taken down due to terrible and dirty minded players abusing the use of parties. Alex could’ve done something to prevent all of this from happening and heck, parties would still be in the game, the pizza mini game and MeepCity would still be on the top three games in all of Roblox!
This game... I used the avatar a lot to roleplay, not be a bacon and have fun. But now, regardless of game. I just ike staying as the bacon I am. I wanna see what happened to all my old favorite games... Maybe they aren't all trashed

As a OG player from 2016, I am quite sad of meepcity’s downfall. This game was a great part of my childhood, and coming back to this after years is quite amusing.
From my experience, it summarises with high accuracy what Meepcity was and remains. I've also went there to check if the bad stuff was real, and it didn't really take me a long time to see them within the first few pages of the party finder thing. Can't wait for your next upload! honestly, i miss 2016 meepcity and roblox in general, the amount of online daters was very low on the site in general compared to now, no tiktok, no parties on meepcity, just going into your house with your friend to show off your decorationg skills with 6 different youtuber posters, blasting your favorite song out loud and figuring out what the best meep color and outfit was.
Roblox back then was smaller thats why you saw less online daters. 🤷♂️ It’s still fun for kids now
I played back then and trust me, there was WAAAY more online daters. Nowadays I rarely encounter them, most of those players have probably grown up and realized it’s cringe or just moved on to more mature “experiences” or games. Meep City was hated in 2016 for this.

What’s crazy is I’ve been playing since 2010, and never really got on or heard of meepcity until 2022 when my friend mentioned it’s an absolute cesspool and we should check it out. The game is absolutely wild and has plenty of “edgy” kids to go around. It’s honestly crazy to me that games like this tend to stick around for quite a while. The amount of bypassed outfits and other mess i saw in like the ten minutes i was on was wild 😭.

I remember in 2015 Me and my friends found a game called “Meep City” We decided to go play the game s9 we could role-play as cops and sisters and brothers. We always played this game after school and we talked to eachother online. As we didn’t know what apps to talk on actually. Then it all changed, in 2021 my friends abandoned me and then blocked me sooner are later to make friends with other people. They started to changed they’re avatars, changed there hair changed they’re shirt into everything I could never imagine. I talked bad about them and then told my story to everyone. I miss the old Roblox, I miss my friends the only people I find is people who are weird and talk about weird things.

The parties back then were amazing, I had roleplayed with other people and I really liked them until i stopped playing and everything had went downhill around 2020 but Meepcity wasnt the best but the nostalgia of the parties are memorable
Honestly If you think about it, I’m 2020 Roblox itself went downhill. No kind players looking for friends, no kid friendly games that didn’t involve violence and just fun. The games that were like that that are still here today are either really dead or just totally different. It’s sad

I made so many friends in this game when I was younger(maybe 9-10 years old), and it was my comfort game. Now I can’t ever get that feeling again.

Great video that has been very well made, I've been playing meep city since 2017 and seeing how depressing it has become is sad. This game had the potential to be a great game , loved by all with a good community if alex would've cared about the moderation on his game but he didn't. Such a waste as it also had so many great features and was very well made.

I dont remember when I first joined Roblox,but I remember I had an old yt channel thanks to a friend group I had on Roblox. I met them on meepcity. It used to be one pf my fav games,its sad seing what became of it

I miss the old meepcity. That used to be one of the only games I ouldnplay in 2016-2017. We still had parties (they were actually cool and fun), multiple updates, even the mini games. It’s kind of sad now.

Meepcity is actually a really good and fun game but it's just the players and Alex. Alex did nothing to stop the players from showing innocent children things they shouldn't see.
Truly agree with that part. When parties was a thing it wasn't about taking care of a ball but taking care of inappropriate fashion and communication which lead the game down the hills.
Roblox exploded with all these inappropriate designs... Maybe they aren't even inappropriate anymore. Just average,expected and preferred clothing. Gone to shit, all of it.
If he had done his thing to get the parties relevant, then parties would never be removed, plus the parties are the reason for MeepCity’s downfall
The only reason I played Meepcity was to join FNAF parties and FNAF role plays. I respect they’re choice of removing the parties, but it’s sad without them.

I remember playing meepcity and I loved the players, I met so many nice people and I eventually stopped playing when I came back to it I met the opposite of what it was, there was rather interesting people doing some disturbing stuff

I wonder what happened though. I came back to meepcity to pretend to be a little kid and be adopted. And everyone was just tall slenders with… ahem. Legs to be tall, not korblox. I remember also the games on meepcity. The houses was fun to decorate, it brought out my creativity. I remember everything fun. I miss old Roblox. Well, today is fun with the roleplays. Campus 3, etc etc. but the old times were nostalgic. I miss it all.
i remember playing this game in 2017-mid 2018, I remember the genuinely good parties where people actually just danced and listened to music or chatted. it was very rare to see someone breaking in game rules and usually those people would be moderated before anything went widespread. I remember fishing with my friends and going to the in-game ice cream shop. this all might sound cringe, but it was my damn childhood and now it's basically ruined by online daters and a shitty developer. 👍

I used to LOVE Meepcity. Roleplaying with my friends, instead of listening to todays lecture (on lockdown 2020).... I stopped playing after the end of the lockdown but rejoined in 2023. Remember the hospital full of baby roleplayers waiting to get adopted? Nobody. They all dissapeard. Nobody even roleplays in this game anymore. Only e-date.
Meepcity to be honest it was one of the top games I ever played. Everyday I would go on my father's phone go to my account and start playing Meep City. I really miss the old days back in 2018 and 2017 Meep City was really fun.

To be honest, Meepcity was something I had so many memories of back when it first became popular in like in 2016. I made so many friends that I used to play with in the game. For hot sakes I played it 24/7 when I was a kid. However, until when I finally came back to the game after my Roblox account got hacked (2020), I check meep city again and- there were good changes to it (not as much) on CZcams, I would usually see people call out the game to be very dangerous for kids, in which it includes lewd parties and yes N4z1 shit (THIS IS REAL I SAW IT). This is why Roblox removed it. It’s understandable for the creators to remove the whole party thing but it was just for their games protect and especially people who play it often. I mean, I don’t play the game as much anymore but it is a game that I would probably stay out of. I also wanted to add that trolling dream smp parties was worth it

Back then in 2018 for me, it was nicely excellent with me just hanging around in the Halloween event that year. Parties before were extremely breathtaking, I met many new friends there, like a massive Christmas Party I joined back then. MeepRacing made me felt like I was in Mario Kart but in MeepCity, so cool. Now the downfall could already be seen miles away with boredom, the gross revealed creator and online dating with inappropriate clothing, I wish it was something like the old days.

old meep city was rlly fun bro..I remember always playing this with my brother and the old lobby music was better than the new one, I want it back but it became how it is right now,I used to be so obsessed with this game
Personally, I used to love Meepcity when it was just an innocent RP game , It just got boring with barely new updates , But after that it just changed, everyone used to be so nice, just trying to have a good time. Then it became flooded with e-daters and just generally rude people. Parties used to be fun, people just socialising, then it changed for the worse.
