Canada ended WWII as a world power, by the seventies the USSR jokingly called us the vicious rabbit. For decades we have ignored our NATO commitments and now our allies are moving ahead without us. We are shut out of the 5 eyes because our government is compromised by foreign powers, we weren’t invited to join AUKUS, we sit at the kids table at NATO… in short we have fallen from a world power to the jester in the court and jesters are easily replaced.
As for the Ukraine? Time for peace talks and stop trying to find a way for them to join NATO, Russia will never accept this and the planet cannot afford an all out war between Russia and NATO. US foreign policy led to this mess and it’s time for the world to pressure the USA to stop taunting the bear.

NATO and lack of spending is not new. I’ve heard all the Presidents that Brian mentioned. Now more than any other time in our recent history, we need to spend the expected rate or we may be hard pressed to have the US and allies on our side.

If at all levels of government , federal , provincial , and municipal they were able to cut the amount of politicians in half at minimum , would we notice the lack of 50% of the politicians ? How much money would we save annually . What could we do with money . Answer one question at a time in order and you will get your answer. The private sector has been doing more with less for years . It would require cuts to entitlements or tax increases. If the Conservatives go down this path they will lose the next election. Quebec, Ontario, the Maritimes, Winnipeg and parts of BC will not allow it.

NATO should not exist anymore as its purpose re the USSR was gone a long time ago, and now it simply promotes aggression. Imagine what Canada would be able to do with all the funds we put towards NATO and the wars if we used that money here.
