I'm a big fan of the Yamaha XS650 engine. For the past 20 years, I've mostly been into Harleys, and one Royal Enfield Bullet 500. But back in the '80s I couldn't afford a Harley. I have owned 4 Yamaha XS650s, a 1979 Special, a 1980 Special, both bought used, and 2 1983 Heritage Specials, both bought new, one as a leftover. I have a thing for engines that shake a lot.
Ol matey gotta be all smiles with that result 👍 a win straight outta the gate 👍
Yamaha has a very good looking 2 cylinder. That is a beautiful chop. My favorite bike was a 650 Yamaha.

Lovely to meet you. And thanks for watching. The wheels are off a harley sportster as is the rear brake set up. 😊
who did the brass plating, and the gold leaf is good to do (easy after practise) specially using a tool to machine turns into the leaf then clear it
Brass plaiting was done by a company in Sydney Australia called Swift electro plating.
thanks mate its not a daily rider but how does brass valve covers hndle the heat any blueing/dulling etc i know brass polishs nice just heat curious
The brass is a pain in the ass as it needs to be constantly polished. Or it fades. Ideally it should be clear coated but I’m yet to find a good clear coat that will stick and also not turn yellow over time
thanks mate u telling what i thought But brass looks hot when u polish it and i,ve used only acrylic clears and reckon it would yellow as u say if u hid it under clear u couldnt buff it lol win/lose?? i,m running painted valve covers on this but the other is polished alloy if this is your email i can show proudly my green critter 1978 custom@@butlerscustomsandclassics
