â@daskrunkly3213 Exactly You can get an Olympus OM-10 for around $70 - 120, and for all intents and purposes, let's say your 36exp film was $10/roll Along with the price of the camera, and development (let's say $20/roll), you would have to shoot approx 33 - 46 rolls of film (approx. 1,188 - 1,656 exposures) before it you begin to save any money using the digital camera. If you cut the development costs out (say you develop film at home using a Patterson tank with caffenol or something cheap), you can increase your film count to 100 - 140 before you begin to save money using that digital camera (approx. 3,600 - 5,040 exposures)
You could get a real, high quality film camera with a bunch of lenses and tons of film and developing for that price. Wanna bet? A Nikon F3 is around $400, a Pentax LX is around $400, lenses for both are around $50-$80 a lens. Avg. price of a roll of film is around $10, developing $12. $22 x $20 = $440. Camera ($400) + lenses ($150) + Film ($440) is still only $990 compared to this $1200 which leaves room for tax, shipping and maybe some accessories.
Lol, the F, the last generation that has the same optics as the original, goes for almost the same as the V, which finally got an optics update among other changes that's worth paying extra for. Either way, both are EXTREMELY inflated in price due to scarcity. Before anyone says, "but the chip shortage and pandemic did it," the X100V's have been sold out/on back order with basically every retailer since release way before the pandemic was an issue. I've also seen official Fuji stores having the X100V marked up from the 1200 MSRP to 2400. I love the cameras, I managed to get a broken V, repair it, and be set, but Fuji knows they're basically a Cult and the only option outside of a Leica or Sony RX1 for a great Fixed lens camera (the LX100 and LX100 II are great, but I'm not a fan of telescopic lenses), so they charge a premium. They're built well with a solid design/lens, I would pay 1200 for a brand-new warranty X100V probably, but not the 1400-2000 used ones are going for.
Fuji is cancelling a lot of products right now, including the X100 series. This camera was probably under 1K before the 100v blew up thanks to tik tok. Donât pay these prices. Go get the very last few XT30ii âs or an XT5 if youâre serious about photography
This made me think one thing Phone brands are working with Leica, zeiss, hasselblad for lenses and softwares but why nobody tried such thing before I'm 100% sure that would be a banger
I wouldn't describe the x100f as a "beginner" camera - while it can do that it's also a serious photographer's tool. Price is relative - the new iPhone is projected around $1400 US...and people will upgrade that every year. It's always about "where do you spend your money" for the desired intent.
The easiest and least expensive way to closely replicate that "film look" from any digital camera will be from an old DSLR. You can pick any brand DSLR but make sure it was released before the year 2010. These cameras use older low megapixel sensors (that perfectly mimics film) and were limited by the technology during the time. You'll get filmic colors, higher ISO grain, and best of all, the ability to use hundreds of pre-owned lenses made in the last two decades! A Canon 20D, Nikon D200 or even better an early Full Frame camera like the Canon 5D classic or Nikon D700 all paired with a cheap 50mm prime are so inexpensive but so damn good right now, it absolutely makes complete sense. These were Pro cameras with ergonomic, ease of use and user tactile functionality in mind. Of course it's not going to look sexy like the Fuji X100f but if people just get over the black melted blob appearance, they can still experience the same nostalgic aesthetic without spending over $1000.
I bought a year ago a X100s for 500âŹ, it might sound cheap to lots of people, but it all depends from the budget you want to spend, paid for an X-E2 body only 200âŹ, that's cheap, but then you need to buy lenses, my advice, do not buy gear only because someone on YT said that it's cheap or is a nice beginning camera, there's a lot of good alternatives out there for relatively little money, even Fuji cameras, you just need to keep looking for the right offer, do not overpay for something that will loose value a few years after. Maybe this is not the case with Laicas camera and in this case X100 series, but buying used above the retail market is absurd.
You donât need a good camera for that just go into Lightroom and drag up the luma curve on the dark side slightly and tweak some things here and there and youâre done
You can still get the x100s which is older than x100f And the original x100 although that one was a test camera and is somewhat awkward. But calling them beginner cameras...isnt accurate at all. You would learn a lot though
Can people stop shilling the fuji X100V and X100F. If you truly want to learn photography and have fuji's film simulations, get a used X-T1 or X-T2, which you can get for between 300-500. Or the original X100. They used to be cheaper but fuji prices have blown up. You don't need a super high quality sensor to get good images. Learn the fundamentals of photography first and upgrade when you are confident.
Thanks TikTok đ People who need a digital camera to simulate film, yes, it's harder to get your result with 35mm film but I feel it's so much more rewarding and not the easier, less fulfilling way.
My brotha that ain't cheap(for a beginner)...the x100v has been out for a minute but the x100f still has crazy resale value....just get an xt200 instead, has most of the film simulations that the x100 line has

get a original 100, 100t, 100s for 200-600 dollars, losing sum megapixels but still get a nice film simulation, autofocus on the older models is boo boo
justâŠbuy a film camera? they still make analog film, kodak, fuji, ilford, they are still producing film and film cameras are really cheap. I mean, Leica recently re-released one of their most popular film cameras.
It hasn't got all of the film sims. My favourite is Classic Negative and I'm pretty sure the X100F doesn't have that one as it was released in early 2020.
Don't buy it. Build quality is bad; the optical/digital viewfinder selector stopped working after a few months, so I had to cover che viewfinder on the outside to use it in digital mode only. After some time (4-5 months) the focus mode selector stopped working, I am forced to use it in AF-C mode only. The lens, when used at F 2, lacks a lot of details, but it adds some character to images. It's whe worst camera I've ever had, maybe I've been unlucky, but it surely not worth the price.

â@daskrunkly3213 Exactly
You can get an Olympus OM-10 for around $70 - 120, and for all intents and purposes, let's say your 36exp film was $10/roll

(This does not include any additional charges, like scanning, accessories, etc., but it's just a point of reference)
I had the x100f for years till I upgraded to the x-pro2 which I would simply recommend over the x100 series
For that price you could get a decent rangefinder and 50 rolls of film and have them professionally developed and digitised

If you want film look shoot film đđŒââïž
I like x30 mark 2
Just get a cheap camera with a sensitive light sensor. Maybe some older lenses that are a little warped.
got a sony rx100 mark 1 for 150. same form factor, better sensor and a zoom lens at a fraction of the price
Thanks TikTok đ People who need a digital camera to simulate film, yes, it's harder to get your result with 35mm film but I feel it's so much more rewarding and not the easier, less fulfilling way.
:(

My brotha that ain't cheap(for a beginner)...the x100v has been out for a minute but the x100f still has crazy resale value....just get an xt200 instead, has most of the film simulations that the x100 line has
Bro cheap isnt a price how much is it
I looked it up and it seems to go for around 1,200-1,500$. Not sure if this is cheap compared to other cameras, but doesn't seem cheap to me at all lmao
@@gingeralesequel 1500 for a camera id rarely use bro i can get a iphone with a camera just as good and fr that shit aint cheap at all
get a original 100, 100t, 100s for 200-600 dollars, losing sum megapixels but still get a nice film simulation, autofocus on the older models is boo boo
justâŠbuy a film camera? they still make analog film, kodak, fuji, ilford, they are still producing film and film cameras are really cheap. I mean, Leica recently re-released one of their most popular film cameras.
Cheap? Lol ok
Nooooo, get the âFuji x-e2â
It hasn't got all of the film sims. My favourite is Classic Negative and I'm pretty sure the X100F doesn't have that one as it was released in early 2020.
just buy camera with a CCD sensor,,, 6.4MP are the ones to go for..
Been down this route. Firstly, it's not cheap. Second, the AF sucks. Sold mine after a year and bought a film camera đ
Not cheap at all. Which makes this clip so funny. I was about to subscribe.đą
it used to be until the x100v came out. now the prices have gone up
If you want a camera similar to this and actually IS cheap. Have a look at the fujifilm X100, X100S and X100T.
He said cheap. From there I knew he was stupid rich
they used to be cheap guys the prices went up recently
You got me all excited ⊠this is not affordable sir đ
âPretty Cheapâ
Don't buy it.
Build quality is bad; the optical/digital viewfinder selector stopped working after a few months, so I had to cover che viewfinder on the outside to use it in digital mode only.
After some time (4-5 months) the focus mode selector stopped working, I am forced to use it in AF-C mode only.
The lens, when used at F 2, lacks a lot of details, but it adds some character to images.
It's whe worst camera I've ever had, maybe I've been unlucky, but it surely not worth the price.
