Focusrite should do something like this based on the ISA range
James left Antelope?? Crazy I’m selling my Discrete Synergy and looking at this 😂 that’s nuts haha great video.
Thank you for watching!
Great demo James. I have a question. Is it correct to assume that the line outs, 3 and 4, could be sent to a mastering chain and then printed back in on inputs 3 and 4, into Protools?? Thank you.
when you route the HP to 3/4 does the talkback appear in that output?
Thanks for the video. It's finally time to upgrade my studio and my producer friends all tell me to just get the Apollo. From what I can see, they are more than double the price of even the next best interface and I just want to know if it's worth it. This SSL 12 looks amazing, and like it will do everything I need it to and more, including full band, live performance, and drum recording, all for half the price of the Apollo.
Hey, thanks for watching! It's always exciting when it's time to upgrade! The Apollo and the SSL products are both great! They both boast ADAT and an ecosystem of free plugins so depending on what plugins you want this may be a deciding factor for you. The SSL 12 has two more inputs than the Apollo Twin but people speak very highly of the Apollo Twin's mic pres so this could also be something to consider.
They both fill slightly different needs so have a think about what you're going to be using it for and then decide on the one that ticks the most boxes for you!
@Studiospares TV Thanks for the reply! I've also heard rumors that Apollo now forces users to keep buying expensive plug-ins and add-ons in order to even use the unit, and this makes me wary. For the longest time I used an MTrack unit I got for free, it was plug-and-play and never once required updates or further purchases. It's a low quality unit I know, but I appreciated that you only needed to buy it once, and it worked until you felt like upgrading. Very disappointing that high quality studio equipment has gone the "planned obsolescence" route a la Microsoft and Apple. Do you know if this is the case with the SSL as well?
With Apollo you're paying for the DSP capabilty in the interface, which reduces the load on your PC. Not really needed if your PC is fast enough. Aside from that, the preamps in the SSL are as good, if not better.
@@aenema22 UA don't support windows users like they do Mac. Well documented issues around that
Hi. Thanks for the video.
Can I ask you to make a review on CB electronics. ? I saw one sitting there ! And I just bought one for Atmos monitoring.
Thanks James !
Hey, Thanks for the suggestion! We'll defiantly look into this!
Hey from Dublin. Thanks for your very cool video. I just ordered one of these today.
A question….if I may
If I want to connect my Ampeg SGT DI Box to my SSL12, should I connect my Direct line out cable from my DI Box into the Inst 1 or Inst 2 slot on the front of the SSL12 OR should I connect it into one of XLR slots at the rear of the SSL 12? Cheers. Niall 🎸
Hey, thanks for watching! We would suggest if youre using a DI box in conjunction with the SSL 12 that you go into the XLR input rather than the instrument inputs!
I connected 2 in aggregate mode. Happy with it
The SSL 12 interfaces are great! We're glad to hear you're enjoying them!
@@StudiosparesTV i only wish i could use 360 software while using aggregated.. maybe in the future :)
I have used an apogee element 24 interface for many years and I just recently bought an Audient id 24 and I just returned that interface today because the sound quality was inferior to what I had been used to with the element. How would you say the AD/DA conversion is on the SSl 12 and just overall sound quality? Im looking at either getting the SSl 12 or the apogee symphony desktop at the moment.
Hey, thanks for watching! If you'd like some information on the conversion differencs between the SSL 12 and the Apogee Symphony desktop please email us at sales@studiospares.com!
I don't need the DSP, I just need record voices with the best quality possible, which do you recommend SSL2 vs Apollo Twin?
Hey @vladykorleone, drop us a message at sales@studiospares.com with your requirements and one of our product experts will be happy to match you with the interface that will best suit your needs!
Can i connect the ssl12 to my android phone?
Unfortunatly it looks like the SSL 12 is not tested nor supported on Android! Sorry about that! Message us at sales@studiospares.com and we will help you find the audio interface you need!
They removed the dial that pivots from real time monitoring to mixed to USB return!
Hey Larry, we believe you can achieve this in the software provided with the SSL12!
@@StudiosparesTV Right, specialized software. SSL2 and SSL 2 Plus are class compliant, I'm free to use on Linux.
I would have rather had a spdif than the adat connection
Get a cable splitter or a extra interface with adat & spdif and connect to ssl adat
👍
Thanks for watching!
This interface can't do surround, right? So sad it doesn't have ADAT out.
sounds like BS paid for influencer/sponsor content... (looks at camera big smile) 'top pro tip leave that 4k button on'.... shame on you James.
