  • My son, a friend and his sons, and I use a Kubota BX25D tractor with a backhoe and loader to create a gravel path to the back acres of my property. After cutting our way through some old stone fence lines, we use the tractor to dig up some stumps. It is a rental unit, so we spent much of the time learning how to use it.

I own the exact same tractor good job driving. One tip though always drive the machine with the bucket low ESPECIALLY when the bucket has something in it. That’s how the tractor can tip. Good video though. 👍🏻

"I think many young boys would enjoy doing something like this...". I cannot imagine anybody not enjoying doing something like this! I rented a skidsteer last year, and it was a lot of fun!
PRO TIP: If you rent over a weekend, you normally get half price (assuming your hours are not excessive) for those weekend days!

For having little experience, you done a heck of a good job. For the price of the rental that was a great deal. Imagine what it'd cost to hire someone. In my opinion you done very well.

Your local farm supply may have a roll of Geotech Fabric that is used to keep the soil separate from the stone and it will also keep potholes from forming in the driveway. It is not expensive and comes in 150' and 300' rolls.

Thanks Ed. I'm planning to extend the road next year so I will talk to some local suppliers. Peter at the Reboot.
