Seeing Deviljho pick up actual monsters and throw them at you is hilarious. Current gen MonHun sure is interesting
I've heard stories of him killing people's target monsters that way.
God why why WHYYYY isnt he in Rise?! He would have an awesome turf war against Magnamalo!
@@HeavyWings Good guy, Jho. Always willing to help the hunters out.
@@fojisan2398 he’s in the sunbreak dlc, i haven’t got that far yet cuz I just got the game recently on the switch but he was such a pain in MHW
@@SmaugTheDestyrhe's not in sunbreak tho?
That one quest in the arena with two deviljhoes & restricting equipment to only bring a weapon sure is something.
I remember dying because I went with charge blade, and when he performed his rapid bite attack I kept blocking and eventually couldn't anymore.
@@HeavyWings yeah they weren't pullin any punches, the quest was merciful enough to not restrict items & in fact it taught me the true value of items.
Smoke bombs, dung bombs, ailment meat, traps, combo books, etc, they were all there & using them was crucial if you don't want to get carted.
Now imagine if they where golden 0w0
The Mandela effect with Deviljho eating his own tail was a very entertaining thing to witness
It was really funny how everyone insisted it happened but nobody had footage of it
1:46 "and stomp his left leg" _Proceeds to show footage of him stomping his right leg_
hmm but can he eat his own tail i wonder
So far no,so far atleast,we still not sure
He can’t
lets ask capcom....
According to Monster Hunter fans for the past 11 or so years, yep!
Unfortunately for them, no lol.
Oh gee oh golly I wonder
The absolute malice in the "unlike someone" was great
The first time I ever encountered this fearsome Brute Wyvern was in Generations Ultimate where he showed up at random while me and some friends were hunting a Najarala. Then later on when we were actually hunting a Deviljho, a Savage Deviljho appeared, but luckily we managed to avoid it.
I remember my first time encountering this guy in MHW. When I was hunting a different monster, this pickle showed up and started targeting me with the theme playing.
I noped the fuck out of there and it chased me. While in panic, I went into high ground, laughed at it as I climb into a high spot, thinking it can’t climb.
As soon as I saw the green beast, I thought it was gonna give up. Turns out, this fucker can climb. Making me cart at least twice.
You: HAHA I got the high ground, I WIN!
Pickle boi: Are you mcfucking sure about that?
All hail the great mighty pickle.
THE GREAT BIG PICKLE!!!!!!
I turned myself into a pickle Hunter I'm picklejho
I remember encountering him first in World, god he hits so damn hard
The original Tyrannosaurus monster is no joke
I've been waiting so long for this and it coincides with me finally fighting one for the first time today after being a long distance fan of the guy for years (wasn't in the games I completed and I never got far enough in the games he was in to fight 😅)
6:58 UNWORTHY!!
*Yeets you across the zone*
as someone who never dung bomb/pods i get a thrill getting ambushed by the pickle during hunts. It makes me feel alive
Thanks for this one, been waiting for some time to know how the pickle evolved in the years.
Just one thing, Savage Jho in Iceborne can show up earlier than the death of Velkhana, I encountered my first one during The Purr-fect Room: Light Iron quest (the one where you have to trap acidic glavenus) and a friend of mine found it during Duet of Rime (normal + shrieking legiana quest) which are both 4 star optional master rank quests. No idea if this applies only to solo gameplay or it can happen online too.
It’s really weird that he doesn’t eat his tail, it seems obvious that he would do that and it would be a great “oh shit” moment
The Intro was amazing dude, really grabbed my attention and drew me into the rest of the video. The editing was super clean throughout the video, and we always appreciate a deviljho tail joke! Praying next game, they actually code it in where it will consume itself.
I can't wait until 2060 and Heavy Wings uploads a video to CZcams2 about all the appearances of Malzeno through the series including it's 6 subspecies and variants and whatnot
I remember watching the fatalis evolution video when it first released. Thank you for continuing this series
Something I genuinely don't like is the change in the model from 4th to 5th Gen.
The upper jaw of Deviljho in 4th Gen was similar to that of an alligator and still somewhat normal. However in 5th Gen it just became weird. I also don't like he became so shiny compared to the matte look in previous generations. Something I also think about the changes made to Rathalos and Nargacuga, in regards to their model.
But gameplay wise he is equally fun in all the generations he appeared in yet, I think it's a very fair and fun fight with great music and a real sense of occasion.
There's a theory there that states that the deviljhos that we fight in world are a dying breed and have become insanely inbred over the years which could explain the weird looking jaw. There's also CZcamsr I think talked about I forgot their name though
The CZcamsr is unnatural history
@@isaacm7934 I'm subscribed to UHC, still that doesn't mean they had to make Deviljho so weird, especially since it's not canon. World had such a weird aesthetic.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma but again it is just a theory so we can't really dismiss it or say it's the truth but if they are insanely inbred then it would make sense that they look weird. In regards to rathalos narga I would chalk that up to just being regional differences which is why I was kind of disappointed they didn't use a updated 3u model they had for rise rathalos since rise takes place in the old world same for narga
@@DefinitelyNotEmma I think all the monsters you mentioned look WAY better in fifth gen. Narga looked kinda skinny imo before world. Rathalos just looked weird and kinda ugly imo. And deviljho just looked, strange. In a bad way. The designs were ok before world but they look so much better now imo.
What's wrong with Rathalos and Nargacuga? Rathalos looks like an abomination compared to the new one we have now.
Nargacuga is also fine considering it cleans itself a lot and is an ambush predatorso it makes sense.
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE LETSGO
Happy to finally release it!
Yessssss! So happy to see more of these from you!
I guess Deviljho just didn’t wanna dig to Kamura
It sucks we never got intros for him in gen 4
Just 3 and 5
But it's cool seeing him fighting elder dragons
Wish he fought Teo, Kush and Luna
Tragedy of him being absent from Rise is that we definitely would have got an intro for him
@@HeavyWings does it involve him fighting an elder dragon and killing it at the end of the intro?
That would be crazy because I know Rajang, Flaming Espinas and Gold Rathian all 3 killed elder dragons
The Tail thing is funny.
The Teammates who warned you didnt warn you from the Deviljho, they didnt wanted to do a Egg delivery, I assume.
Deviljhos Counter does trigger if you break his Head twice btw. It can happen after the break as well, but its mostly times as a response to the Break.
You kinda forgott to mention, but Savage in Iceborn stays enraged after a short while.
It will follow you forever.
And there is also a overhaul of its Counter. Hits to the Head trigger the straight Dragon Breath, hits to the Cest trigger a forward Bite Attack, and if you hit it while its doing the Animation, you archive a free Flinch, or knockdown.
Doing all egg deliveries is worth it. Crimson fatalis. At least it isn't do every quest like it is in the first game. Just EGG.
@@_Tzer Na theres a Event for that.
And I learned, its not that bad if you make a Set whit Pro Transporter and eat for Lander.
Unlooking Masters Test in the other Hand is of great use.
Deviljho in world was my first encounter with him and also I think my first failed hunt. I carted twice and ran out of time.
I spent most of the 50 minutes running for my life. It was hilarious.
I love him.
One of my favourite hunts was on a Glavenus but both Jho and Bazel were in the zone. It was nonstop chaos. 10/10, loved it.
my first time meeting savage jho in iceborne, i think it was a fulgur anja hunt in the elder's recess. I was going to slide down the first slope from main camp to the center area (area where dodogama usually resides) and he was there, walking up the slope. I was like "nah im good' and took a detour ☠
Ah yes, everyone's favorate demon pickle.
If prehistoric planet was animated for kids and the dreadnoughtus herd didn’t sing this I would be furious, this is just beautiful
He needs to return. It’s an upset that he’s absent from rise
He doesn't need to be in every game. I'm happy, that he took a break. He'll feel more fresh then if he returns in the future.
It's for the best
Invaders (barring CGValstrax to some extent) are joke there and kinda exist for you to wyvern ride anyway
My all time favorite monster.
Jho is awesome
I wonder if you ever do either a history or evolution of Plesioth
2:27 I know editing a big video like this can make us let slip on a few errors, so I'll just correct this bit of the video: in MH Tri, our Jho already can counter attack after getting flinched in the head while in rage mode, that wasn't introduced in Portable 3rd. Likewise, MH3 Barioth will also always bite forward quickly if you flinch his head while in rage mode. I've been playing Tri a lot these past few months so I guarantee these pieces of info. Anyway, nice video.
My favorite monster of all time!
When your just a really hunger boi
Even though he skipped rise, I REALLY want him in Wilds
I've always wondered: is your Palico named Darquesse after the character from the Skulduggery Pleasant series?
Epic video
Thanks!
I love Deviljho, my favorite part of him was when he said "its Deviljhin time" and proceeded to Deviljeat his own tail
My favorite monster! 🎉🎉🎉
It's kind of funny because in Sunbreak Anjanath gained a few attacks from the pickle
Im pretty sure it allways had some Inspired Moves from him.
In fact I found Anjanath a bit boring cause it was so similar to Pickle, and Glavenus.
Worse than them both.
@@Sunaki1000 I can see why people think Anja is boring. But to me Anjanath is exciting and a challenge for a beginner (only in world, risejanath doesn’t do him justice imo) Anjanath is really what triggered me to play world as I love T. Rexes and seeing one kill a Great Jagras made me want to play the game just to fight him!
After a while though, I started to love Jho more, since he is a bigger, any brute wyvern that is big is a favorite of mine!
I love all brute wyverns.
@@GhostedBLEACH I still wait for Brute wyvern that is either acrocanthosaurus or spino inspired
I'm surprised noone mentioned Worldeater Deviljho from that event quest in Tri.
I always love savage super in iceborne
Almost timed out on a quest because I was just following it around watching it carry odogaron in its mouth the whole time
My favourite thing to do is watch his little arms. Such a ferocious monster with such huge attacks, and his arms are just flailing around.
@@HeavyWings it's almost adorable
Bro i really wanna see a deviljho turn into a savage deviljho
Hyper-boosted dragon breath range is huge and Hyper monsters don't get tired so no defense down
This is a certified Jho Mama moment were having
When will we get evolution of Alatreon cant wait for it 🤤
Sometime in the future
Every time I get an intrusion in one of my quests in MHP3rd I always try to fight Deviljho, he seems fair but very tough. I end up going back to the village anyway. Also bring back intrusions for MH6!
My first encounter with deviljho was in world, He was just as many vets described him and it was pretty challenging, but not too challenging (As a gunlance and SA user at that time.) When I decided to give 4u a try during World's slow down of updates before iceborne, I encountered him first during the first high rank quest where you had to defeat a blue kut ku.
I was still using the low rank barroth set and a tigrex lance, when I entered the area where kut ku was, he entered out of nowhere. Almost carted me immeadtialty with just 2 hits. That was an experience. As of now, in the endgame of 4u deviljho still gives me trouble, hes alot more difficult compared to world jho, The tremors and huge swinging attacks are crazy, I switched to GS by now but man he really keeps me on my toes
Based on how it's described, I think Deviljho's description as a wanderer is incorrect. If it needs to eat constantly, then it would starve to death in the time it would need to reach a new hunting ground. I think it's more likely that it has feast and famine phases. Essentially, Deviljho will gorge itself to capacity before entering a period of hibernation which can last months or even years, hopefully giving its prey time to repopulate. And by the time it wakes up, it is literally starving to death and needs to consume a massive number of calories, thus starting the cycle over again.
The Lu Bu of old-school Monster Hunter
so you showed jo but what about its evolution? were did it come from? what was it in eras before?
First time I fought Deviljho I beat it with zero deaths, but I had played several Monster Hunter games before that point. Apparently never to high enough rank before to meet it.
the 4th gen sweeping beam dance being removed is sad but i love the things MHW added. IB's savage jho is great but it's still sad that in the Iceborne the variants for jho and bazelgeuse replace their base monsters entirely so you can't fight both of them or have more gear options
To think such a terrifying monster is nicknamed pickle
I GUESSED IT!
I'd rather fight Deviljho in angry mode than its hungry mode. His free armor pen from his mouth when his tired is much more annoying than dragon breath attack. That's why I always feed it when it's hungry.
Hardest Deviljho fight is I would argue the Hyper Deviljho fight. Since Hyper prevents fatigue, it never enters a state you can bait with meat.
ah man, no mention of hyper Deviljho?one of the most terrifying (and fun) versions of him.
Hyper doesn't really have any specific moveset changes, unlike Apex Jho. Otherwise he would have got a mention.
@@HeavyWings the way his movesets are changed are pretty notable, like how his side to side swipes increases in speed over time.
I miss the armor showcase
LES GOOOOO
Funnily enough I'm currently farming for hyper deviljho armor.
I went through that once. It's... really long.
jho ceana?
Yeah.
Unfortunately...
JHO! QUIT CHUCKING AROUND THAT KULU-YA-KU NEXT DOOR! I'M TRYING TO TAKE AN ESPI-NAP!
Golden deviljho is my favourite
Mhfu deviljo is my favorite
the only monster not allowed to have a break is rathian and rathalos they are in every game.
Babe wake up heavy wings just update a new video
the evolution of the pickle :>
Jho mama.
my fav is always the og from tri
He's so cool!
I've got huge respects for the raging cucumber/ PickleJho. I love him but at the same time hate him. he was my biggest rival in Generations and World. Even with that I was happy when he was accounced to world. Tho i was surprised he also invaded in MHStories. Biggest Nightmare. But at the same time my beloved friend PickleJho
Is he not in Rise?
The pickle man (rick and morty joke)
It's pickle time
Yoo first!
Hyper deviljho is my fav
(Note) and u forgot about it in ur vid ):
You didn't mention Starving Deviljho
That's frontier not mainline
@@Doomguyhunter1
They don't include Frontier in these?
@@bingbong8239 no
I thought it was called deviljoe
4th gen's is the worst purely because of that god awful tracking move he will spam 5-7 times in a row and the pin spam. 5th is without question the best due to them basically adding damn near everything as well as making every encounter with him feel like a mistake and the same goes for other monsters which also don't want to deal with him.
Deviljho in Rise would be boring. Its main challenge is its size, huge hit boxes, surprising range, speed, and it messing with with whatever quest you're doing. The wirebug mechanic makes the first 4 things trivial and the new mounting mechanics make the last thing more of a help than a harm.
I think depending on what attacks they give him he could be pretty challenging. Especially because most of them utilise his whole body. Try to take to the air and you'll get knocked down hard.
I think it would be cool if they made him immune to wyvern riding. Say he's too big or something.
Heck, his ability to pick up a monster to hit you with will break the game further.
I thought jho was going to be in rise because the immunizer dango said it halves defense down so I immediately thought "uh oh, epic pickle foreshadowing!" But when I completed rise and sunbreak, I was quite surprised and disappointed that jho wasn't in the game. It made me question why that dango would mention def. down if jho wasn't in the game and I currently can't recall any monster that inflicts it. Although, after completing r/s, I've come to realize devil jho simply would not be a viable monster due to the extensive mobility in the game.
Didn't mean to type so much but overall, I was disappointed. I don't hate r/s but I don't love it either. It doesn't have alot of..."oomph" to it.
I think he still would make a good addition as Garangolm is much slower than Deviljho for example. And lets be real Garangolm is easy as heck where you do not have to use wirebugs when you dogde proberly
@@julianswinton5355 Oh yeah, Garan IS pretty slow. His design is cool but the fight is meh. This kinda sucks now. I'm also a bit surprised Brachydios isn't in rise. That dude is always dancin around. Glavenus too since his armor is flaming knight like. Rise's roster kinda confuses me.
@@Catsweeri The only Brute wyverns are Barroth and Anjanath in rise/sunbreak...
Would have loved to see Duramboros again maybe in next game then.
@@julianswinton5355 Diablos is also a brute too. So 3 brutes in the entire game. Did not notice that at all. I honestly don't want to wait for the next game to enjoy mh but r/s just doesn't cut it for me. I actually didn't even finish gu (didn't even get to gogmazios or the golden bug) so tryin to catch up on that.
@@Catsweeri Diablos is a flying wyvern. I know he does not look like one but he is a flying wyvern
Deviljho is not a threat in Portable 3rd because they removed Dragonblight... for some reason...
Also, 4th gen Deviljho can attack while in pitfall trap but its a rare instance, just like its eating its own tail
It doesn't eat the tail lmao
Ok so this was a turn based Rpg, that was co develped by Squaresoft.
They where even on a sequel, but then Square had a falling out with Nintendo during the Ps1/N64 era, Square wasnt happy that nintendo still relyed on cartridges to store their games instead of discs like playstation did and thus decided to partner with Sony instead (if the N64 had didcs then games like FF7-9 and Chrono Cross might have been Nintendo exclusives).
But at that point Nintendo was allready working on the sequel as this happened and wasnt willing to abandon their work, but they could not use the "Mario Rpg" name due to co-ownership with Square, so they changed the aesthetic a bit to resemble a childrens strybook and dubbed the game "Paper Mario" thus they created the "Paper Mario" Series wich where raditional turn based Rpgs with a storybook aesthetic, or at least for the first few games, before they got too much into the paper mashe look and forgot how to tell storys.
Nintendo also created the "Mario & Luigi" series later on wich is anther spiritual succesor to "Super Mario Rpg" these games are also turn based Rpgs but a lot more expirimental as you have the abilty to dodge or counter every enemy attack in the game, thus these games allow you to avoid any and all damage if youre good enough, each attack also has timing based inputs that allow you to do way more damage with the right timing. This series is also a lot crazier than paper mario and super mario rpgs, everything goes comoletely of the rails from what you think a mario rpg would be like and it just dves head first into its own world of madness, rediculous plott threads and epic battles, the developers went completely bonkers in the best way possible.
Yoko Shimamura also did a lot of musc for the Mario & Luigi games and its all glorious.
Let's hope for some actual innovations in next Monster Hutner game. Open World multiplayer elements not just another co op game. clans fighting for world fastest clears, ability to tame monsters as your mount etc... cities full of people not npcs
That would make MH just another generic Elden Ring ripoff.
That sounds terrible
Pickle.
Deviljho is ok but I hate Savage since MH4U. Pin attacks are annoying bs and all he does.
Yeah it was a bit too much
