I must've watched this on VHS 150 times when I was a kid.

I wish I didn't know what Cop Rock was. I lost an hour of my life to that quagmire of television.

2:52 I know it’s the camera angle and lighting causing her appearance, but I expected to hear “HEY YOU GUYS!!” just then

Now that you've pointed it out, I'll never be able to unsee it! That poor actress. Worst possible angle for her.

An 80's icon!! Recently watched this movie for the first time in...when it came out, but a favorite. Like to see you review "Space Hunter" and "Ice Pirates".

I got an Atari game system around 1980 or so. It cut my arcade time drastically. In hindsight I enjoyed the arcade more but the money I blew between 9 and 12 was insane.

Wow, thanks for sharing your personal connections to the theme in this one. I do think, though, that even if this is, as you point out, an off-brand version of the Luke Skywalker myth, whether the setting here might have made it more tangible to viewers. When I worked for a newspaper in Kansas, I remember covering a July 4th event in a small town and even if it was the Thing to Do for everyone that day, the underlying desire to get out was nearly palpable in the younger members of the crowd.

Being replaced by duplicate so you can fly off into space reminds me of Rick and Morty.

The cgi was always distracting for me for this, since cinema from this time frame was generally all models and practical effects. But its not bad.

In the early 80's I spent an entire Saturday, and ten dollars, at the local arcade. When the grandparents found out, they looked at me like I was an ax murderer.

"Safety is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing!"

The Last Star Fighter is awesome and Theodore Rex sued Whoopie to ensure they ballooned their Budget for a Direct To Video Glorious Movie that proves we do need Dinosaurs just to understand ourselves Better, i searched arcades all Over for those left behind Star Fighter Game Simulations

I’m enjoying your videos but my takeaway from this is go get your pilot’s license! Follow that dream. :) Keep writing, sure, and creating awesome content, but get that license!
