    How to make a long-focus digital microscope? For soldering under the microscope...
    Please make a video about it...

    I use a jewellers loupe on the back camera and pinch zoom. Works good enough for electronics repair. Adjusting lighting is key to a good outcome

    Nice idea but the camera on the phone is probably better. I use my Samsung Note 4 for this sort of work all the time as the zoom is great for reading all the component values and inspecting solder joints which I often need to look at different angles so a fixed platform doesn't work so well.

  • @supersilve
    @supersilve Před 5 lety +22

    Looks very interesting but the working distance seems a bit short for electronic use, is there a better camera that can work at a further distance say 10 or 12 cm away? The magnification can be no more than 50 times

      I am curious about the same thing you asked. It's been a year since you asked, so have you found the answer yourself seeing as you never received a response?

      @Moonbase59 Před 4 lety

      It’s actually only a matter of the stand (build it higher). ELP have such a wide range of camera modules (non-distorting, up to 1080p50, long focal distances) that you only need to select the one that perfectly fits your work situation. (I’m not affiliated with them anyhow but used their modules in the past.)

  • @karlscheel3500
    @karlscheel3500 Před 5 lety +4

    Using that particular camera apparently gives you very little clearance for a soldering iron, due to its short, but fixed focal-length. You might have gotten better results, had you used the third camera instead (i.e., the one that focuses like a DSLR).
    Anyway, thanks for this video. This setup would likely save a lot of money over the purchase of an electronic hobbyist microscope. :)

  • @Moonbase59
    @Moonbase59 Před 4 lety

    Now this is something that makes me sway, and I understand the number of dislikes. On one side you show a creative DIY idea for making a cheap camera stand for people that just can’t afford getting a professional one but need to get into SMD work, on the other side you show using ELP’s camera modules which have quite a hefty price tag (but are real great quality).
    But probably this is exactly the right way to start: Build an el cheapo stand at first but don’t make any compromise on the image quality.
    An interesting approach indeed! My vote is a hefty LIKE.
    N.B.: Where did you pick up the nifty mini-tripod for the smartphone?

  • @salemhardan6412

    You need to add a screw, long enough, in one of the outer holes to act like a lens protector. So it will hit the base your looking at before that the lens does🙂🙂

    Another thing you can use as an HD digital microscope is an HD digital microscope. It's similar to this, only half the price, doesn't involve hot gluing and doesn't get in the way of your soldering iron when you're trying to use it while soldering.

    • @imnotbeluga007
      @imnotbeluga007 Před 2 lety

      You can do it, but you would have to buy or custom make an camera extension cable. They don't have a standardized pinout, so what works for you may not work for everyone. It's not worth designing an circuit that turns your phone camera's signals into HDMI. And if the phone is a smartphone, you can integrate it into it and get a microscope that beats all others for a similar price!

    Nice, but what is it with the hot glue. CZcams has gone crazy over hot glue. Don't be lazy and drill and screw together. The projects will be sturdier and may last for years. I give the hot glue a couple of months.

    • @susie3702
      @susie3702 Před 6 lety +9

      I built mine using Technical Lego and used hot glue to attach the camera and it is still as good as the day I built it over 5 years ago, the reason for hot glue is it can be removed easy if required.

    • @IvanZivko
      @IvanZivko Před 6 lety +5

      Technical Lego is plastic, therefore is the hot glue suitable for attaching parts. But I agree with paul30003, drilling some holes and using screws is a way better than glueing, it is even easier to remove and replace components if needed and projects are waaaay sturdier. Indeed, almost every DIY project on CZcams is using hot glue, but it's not as sturdy as it looks at first. Believe me, I started my DIY projects same way, but I realized very soon, it's not a solution that can last for long. Other than that, a cool idea for a DIY.
