Thank you so much! I went to the hospital to get the surgery for me PD catheter, then my nephrologist went on vacation out of the country for a month and didn't even tell the kidney clinic about me. When I got out of the hospital and several days went by, I literally had to call all over town to different kidney clinics to find out which one I was supposed to go to for PD training. It was such a mess; I had my catheter for over a week before I even knew how I was supposed to clean it or anything. I had no idea what to do with it. I can't believe my doctor did that to me. Bad enough she went on vacation for a full month, leaving the country, but she didn't even tell me what to do or even tell the clinic about me, so they didn't even know to contact me or anything. Your videos have been a huge help. And for the record, I fired my doctor and got a new one, because not communicating anything to anyone when I just had a major surgical thing done... that is no bueno.
I recently found your channel, as I'm starting Peritoneal dialysis soon, my training actually begins tomorrow. Been having difficulty when I try to visualize what my new day to day will be like starting PD but I find your videos very helpful, educational and comforting. So it makes it less scary. Thank you so much for sharing!
Really hope all goes well God willing. Do keep us apprised of your journey. Best wishes and prayers 🙏🏽

Thanks a ton! Mine will start in a month or two.
My Dr. has said that I will have to go on dialysis soon. Your videos are very helpful in preparation of this event.
They are preparing me for dialysis within a yr.I will be on it.I have also chosen peritoneal dialysis. I have to go for iron infusions 1st. Had a tour with dialysis nurse, the way it works,mavh8ne etc. I am curious where you got your laynard to hold thr tubing to shower, that is a cool piece. Thanks for these great videos, they are really helping .

I too had to get iron infusion. Felt better once my hemoglobin was no longer low.
I got the lanyard from Amazon. It's a MandM Peritoneal Dialysis Transfer Set Holder for Baxter. Looking it up, it's gone up in price, but I've seen other options that are less expensive. Hope that helps!
Well it wasnt a yr.going on P.D. dialysis Oct 18 getting port in then off to the races. Your videos are very helpful Thank you
Hello am so interested with the click necklace you have, where can i buy that? What is the name if i search in the interner?Thank you so much for your awesome video🌷🥰🙏 Regards
Where you get the necklace from?...
I’m fatter and so is my doctor so my site is high enough to see so I wear a rain coat and shower everyday without touching my site. It never gets wet. I just had surgery this week. I will learn to shower like you soon.
I'm on peritoneal dialysis as well. How do I get one of those necklaces?? It would be perfect for the shower.... I wasn't aware they even had something like that...
I dont have a necklace but i rinse and wash with the bandage on then i replace and clean the port , should I change?
Just subscribed to your channel. May I kindly ask your reasons over choosing PD over haemodialysis? Thank you.
I have another video that goes over the reasons I chose PD if you want more information. czcams.com/video/JyB4Arl3_2o/video.html
Being able to do PD (using the cycler) overnight and every night, gave me more freedom and energy during the day. It also seemed easier on the body long term. Thanks for asking.
@@kidneykeeping thank you 🙏🏽 very much for the kind response - yes, just seen the video very informative
Question? Do you sanitize the connector parts that's hanging around your neck after you dry off? I have another Idea, What can you eat and drink when you are on APD? Can you have a steak, shrimp, pork, potatoes??? Right know we are on a Vegan diet and lost 30lbs in one year. We can have chicken and Cod fish. I miss smoking Brisket, bacon, and ribs. Any ideas would be GREAT! Thank you for all your video's Keep them coming . Chuck.
I do clean and dry the white plastic part after coming out of the shower. When I'm not using the neckless, I wash the whole thing with a little soap and water. Thanks for your comment and video idea!
Hi, Chuck. I'm vegan now too but will eat fish. Lost 14 lbs in 2.5 months. I feel better but am at 16 % functioning and will have to start pd next year. I think you can eat those things depending on your labs. Your dietician will tell you.
I went back to hospital 2 days ago as i got pain in my right hand side. I thought it was appendix. However, the check up show the pain came from my catheter. Not sure if that happen to you as well. My 11 days after surgery, i did well but pain not go away yet.
I am so sorry to hear that you are still in pain! I did experience some pain and have a tender spot on my abdomen. I got a MRI to make sure it wasn't from my PD catheter but nothing showed up. I hope that you are able to recover and not be uncomfortable anymore!!
Can transfer set get wet?
Is the necklace something they gave u?
I bought it off of Amazon. MandM Peritoneal Dialysis Transfer Set Holder for Baxter.
It's worked great for me. The only complaint I have, is the string would often slip out of position in the black toggle. It was easy to fix. Just move the string back into place where they toggle can pinch it down. Hope that helps.
So it can get wet I’m confused
So you're supposed to keep the dressing on while you shower? Oops, I may have messed that up.
Do you always have to wear the necklace then?
The necklaces holds my transfer set up against my body. I like it better then the belt or just taping it to my belly. When I dress up nice I'll often wear the belt instead.
@@kidneykeeping i also use the necklace and tape the tube to my side more so it never falls below my shirt line ...
