I fully agree with Edge as a fan from the mid -80s on. I was genuinely excited for AEW when it came out. Here's something new, something DIFFERENT. In less than 5 years, it's become almost unbearable to watch. Storylines that stagnate and go nowhere, people that don't need to be in the main event holding prominent places on the card (ahem, Bucks), burials of main eventers (re: Swerve), matches spending far too much time outside. There are a multitude of reasons why I don't watch AEW. If a program, any program can make me go from "Ooh! What's this?" to "Why am I still giving this my time?" it's all but a lost cause for me. WWE for me, was like this for years and I only watched sporadically. The tribalism is ridiculous. Outside of the extreme diehards from both AEW & WWE most fans don't care. Though in my experience, the AEW diehards are the worst. Just see how they pushed away Ice Cube's son, another lifelong wrestling fan. Tony, his bad booking, and the Bucks (aka the Sippy Cup Crew) are detrimental to their product.

Here's the thing tho, people who have that specific criticism of aew don't understand why aew exists. All that you just mentioned can be done better by wwe, so why would someone turn to aew. Aew doesn't work as a storytelling promotion, the idea is to have the best matches, like I don't like weekly tv, I hate sitting through promos and backstage segments. Now I try to enjoy anything wrestling related without the tribalism.

Edge gree up in my generation. We grew up on pro wrestling illustrated and anytime wrestling was in it was a great night. I'd watch wwe superstars on Saturday morning and raw on Monday, wcw Saturday night at 7 pm on Saturday, ecw ppvs and their show in Spike tv, And there was a small Dallas promotion that came in at 10pm on Fridays. Now it's 2 tribes who can't stand each other. It's sad how they can't just enjoy things and that includes the mark talent in aew that can't stop pushing the issue in their own tv
We are in an INCREDIBLE time for wrestling. Watch it all. WWE has stepped its game up, and despite the, at times, unfounded criticism (there’s good faith reasonable critique but so much of it is flat garbage) AEW has some of the best pro wrestling on the planet. Watch it all.
That’s how groups work, The larger the group, the more toxic, the more of your beauty as an individual you have to surrender for the sake of group thought. And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.

I’m a life long WWE fan and I want AEW to succeed. My problem with AEW is it caters to their very specific niche audience so I often find the product uninteresting. And honestly a lot of the time wwe feels very boring because the in ring product just isn't as good
@@ballisticb Professional wrestling is meant to entertain people. WWE builds feuds and has great storylines to build up peoples characters. Whilst AEW just goes for the hard-core wrestling fans, which theres nothing wrong with it, but AEW has way too much talent and half of them is rarely used other then the ones you see each and every week. Tony is too focused on the wrestling aspect while not focusing on building up his talent and having them showcase and build up their characters.
@jacobrobinson6603 but the opposite of that is true as well, because WWE had Malaki Black, Buddy Matthews, Miro, Brodie Lee, and Andrade, and WWE didn't use them either. Both companies have WAY TOO MANY people on their roster. It isn't just a WWE or AEW thing. It's both
@@WarEagle1023 But you do have to remember all of those were under Vince McMahon
@@jacobrobinson6603and aew was literally better than wwe for 3 years so….
I watched raw and nitro. I watched Thunder and smackdown. I watched ECW on Friday night. I watched Sunday night heat. Hell, I even watched velocity. Real wrestling fans will watch everything
I watch both WWE & AEW faithfully.
Fax like I love football not just the premiere league
There's no way AEW fans didn't know who edge was that was a bad example by chris but i get it he's trying not be disrespectful to aew fans but i love to watch both the shows.😊
It's not because we don't want to watch as much wrestling as possible. It's all if the product is good or not..
Yeah but your bias/meat riding if you think WWE is the only good product in modern wrestling
Growing up for me only thing I could watch was WWE and TNA. ROH and the other companies came later. But think about how fortunate we are now.
You got WWE , TNA, AEW, etc at the palm of our fingertips enjoy it. Especially the young fans watching enjoy it. One day all this will be memories man 💯🔥
I love how much wrestling we have now as fans Monday-Saturday every week there is wrestling on. I remember a time when it was Monday, Thursday and Friday only with Sunday PPVs. WRESTLING CONNECTS US ALL YALL ❤️❤️
He doesn’t understand the alliance to the initials but he was with the WWE then know as the WWF from 1997 to 2023 😭 I do respect his choice in furthering his match capability though and he’s still doing what he loves
The majority of that time there was either no alternative or he was retired tbf
Personally, I watch what I like and respect the people that like what I don’t. I’m a huge fan of Edge, so honestly, the only reason I started watching AEW is because of him
Didn't Edge claim that AEW was where the 'best' wrestle all while having the biggest mark in the business running the show?
Same I just like the sport no company I die for
I think that's the difference between this generation and past....they didn't have alot of information about wrestling at their fingertips like we did....we was channel clicking back and forth to see RAW and Nitro
Everyone is familiar with what he did in WWE. AEW didn't even existed when Edge was a legend.
Think of it like this: some people like to watch professional sports (wwe) and others like to watch college or amateur sports (aew).
I watch all brands I’m a wrestling fan Il watch anything
The Good Ole Days for me. Watching WWF, NWA, AWA, UWF and World Class.
"you're just a wrestling casual fan if you watch all of them"
Me :
When I was a kid, I used to tell myself that I liked wwf over WCW. I used to be one of those people or at least I thought so. But in reality I did enjoy watching WCW, cause I would watch nitro and the ppv's every chance I could get. Same with tna at the beginning. Once WCW shut down, it felt kinda off empty at the time. Now I try to enjoy anything wrestling related without the tribalism.
Edge is spot on.
Bro felt this growing up watching tna wwe newecw even the stuff around michigan nothing like watching state wreslting ent in a middle school gym its all just so fun and cool
That’s how I was as a kid I was a wwf kid all the way but I loved watching as much as I could I would always watch wcw and ecw as well
I just want to watch as much wrestling as I can. I love wrestling, any style, aby promotion. If i can invest in the wrestlers then i will invest in the wrestling no matter where it is
VALID. Also SHOUTOUT TO HOCKEEEEEY!!
Its a hold over from The Monday Night Wars.
I’m a lakers fan but I also just love basketball so I watch whatever game that’s on that’s going to be a good match. I probably hate on AEW more than I should but edge has a really good point, at the end of the day rather it’s aew or wwe most of the people on both shows are busting their asses to entertain.
Great analogy at the end.
I love wrestling and I won’t lie yes I watched WWE a hardcore WWE fan but I never knew there was other wrestling yes I know I know but like fr tho i discovered so much that I just love wrestling as a whole
I don’t show any favoritism towards either I just love the competition and the sport itself it’s just wonderful
That's how it should be. Growing up I watched wwe and tna
It all boils down to either you're a wrestling fan or not...no need to hate on the person who makes a company change..growing up I watched everything NWA WWF...luchadore wrestling
I watch any kind of wrestling I can & Adam erm ..Edge bud, I see you dude! Your AEW work is totally bawse!!!! You & Christian Cage are just brilliant & I kinda hope he beats Swerve then you beat him for the AEW World Title
I’m a life long WWE fan and I want AEW to succeed. My problem with AEW is it caters to their very specific niche audience so I often find the product uninteresting. I think TK needs to get an experienced booker/writing team in place and tell some good stories for all the great talent they have there.
Wrestling is niche lol
@@leonconnelly5303 look at the WWE ratings vs AEW ratings. Niche as in TK caters to the same hardcore audience of 700,000 people every week. WWE caters to wider audience than that.
He's right. Once upon a time i watched all of WWEs stuff, the occasional WCW show and then TNA when they had a TV deal in the UK. Tribalism is bad.
I think a lot of people forget Aew is only five years old . so I believe they're still figuring it out . but on the other hand in ten year the shoot interviews are gonna be wild .
I watched all Wrestling i could. Of course, this falls into other areas too. I love Xbox, but i own a Switch and Playstation too. I enjoy variety.
i think it stems from the attitude era with wcw and wwf being at war so people picked a side. now people don’t know how to break out of that mindset
I hope Edge/Adam gets the opportunity in NJPW before he retires. It's never too late. Future IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion and NEVER Openweight Champion.
I don't understand the difference if Edge is on Raw, Smackdown, or Dynamite. I think the only thing that sucks is no WrestleMania match, and not being officially in the video game. Which is why I just play the old games ...
AC has actually evolved after WWE,his move set too ... he's a new man .... he isn't Edge no more,He's the TNT Champion Adam Copeland.
-this WWE/AEW feud means nothing because in the end, most fans watch both products therefore being a viewer and adding to both company's profits.
As an attitude era kid we watched wcw we watched wwe we watched ecw and it was no arguments we thought it was kool to watch everything 🤷🏾💯
Tony Khan is the CEO of the Tribalism! 😂
