So they obviously recorded the show. Release it! We'll pay to watch it. Damn it's the 21st century. All this stuff should be available digitally.
I want to watch it so badly
ahhh me too! I’ve been wanting to watch this since like 2018
They've gotta release it digitally somewhere
a book is a book. a movie is a movie. does a play work digitally? I feel that the intent of books and the intent of (many) movies can be conveyed digitally, but a play?
@@IsLaxLife i think they mean since they have videos of the play, they must have the full recording and they would love to see it. personally i’m in australia so i would definitely pay to see it!
I sat in the third row center for this production, and left the theatre in awe of what I'd just witnessed. "Timotheé Chalamet is a revelation," I wrote online that night. "I feel like I'll be telling my friends' grandchildren about him." I'm so grateful to have witnessed Timotheé so early in his career, and in such an exquisite play by John Patrick Shanley! Still not giving up hope the full play will be released on video at some point, but this event is certainly the next best thing!
that’s amazing
beautiful!
You are so lucky to have seen him at the beginning of his career. And we are all so lucky to get to watch his journey.
@@jenniferwhitley788 Agreed and agreed! The clips here make the show seem like it's filled with yelling, but there were so many quiet, beautiful moments too. It was such a great show, and witnessing Timmy's emotional tour de force was something I'll never forget!
@@angelenroute I noticed that these clips all contained yelling and it had me questioning whether I would actually have enjoyed it. After reading your comment I am back to being very jealous of anyone who was there. Lucky you! :)
I would love to see Timmy in a stage production, he really comes alive
He supposed to be in a play called "4000 miles" last April-June in London, in the Old Vic theatre, but then you know, global pandemic... me and other thousand of people still have the ticket and still wait for a new date to go and see him on a stage!! Hopefully soon. (the tickets are all sold out, if someone was interested, sorry)
Anna yeah i knew about that! I’m hopeful he does something back in NY post pandemic so that i can go
and now, years later Timothée invited John to see him host SNL!! awwh😭
When I came home from seeing this production (JPS is one of my favorite contemporary playwrights and I was a longtime subscriber to MTC) I couldn't stop talking about PRODIGAL SON and Chalamet's bravura, astonishing performance . I immediately got tickets to see it again, and took my grandson who was visiting from San Francisco. I wanted him to see such an extraordinary tour de force by a young man his own age. After Chalamet became film famous I periodically Tweeted to him to NOT FORGET THE STAGE! As wonderful as he is in celluloid, he is electrifying on the stage in the right role, of course. Thank you John Patrick Shanley for trusting your early life to the more than capable hands of Timotheé Chalamet. (BTW, Chalamet was to return to the stage - in London - in an intimate play that I'd seen in NYC a few years ago. Sadly, COVID hit and the play was canceled. A final aside, after seeing PRODIGAL SON, I did an Internet search and discovered he was "Finn" in the series "Homeland." He also can be quite the singer. Am hoping someone writes him a Broadway musical (check out SNL appearances, and his SWEET CHARITY clips on CZcams when he was at LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts.)
Online streaming services should start streaming plays too, especially considering those who live in places that lack things like theatres but still love to watch them
This!!! The International Theatre from Amsterdam started doing that and it has worked perfectly, they even included English subtitles. I'm from Chile, so I have no possibilities of going to any of these plays
I'm really wondering why they do not do this? It's so unfair
@@augustin9600 Younger people wouldn't show up to see it live
Sooooo true
you can see how amazing he was even at such a young age ❤ i’m so happy with how far he’s come. timmy is one of the most talented actors now and he deserves the world
I'm not a Timothée Chalamet stan but I know a great actor when I see one.
This kid is going to be amazing. He's still young in his career and I know for a fact this man will be acting for years to come.
Have you seen him in The French Dispatch and Don’t look up? He has some serious range already.
Well, he is already the king of Hollywood, he have 26 or 27 now :) 50 nominations and one to the oscar, he is the youngest born in the 90' to be nominated in 80 years in best actor category :) so yeah he has taking over the cinema, Hollywood and the all world. I'm so glad he did because, what an actor, whar an human, what a man, what a soul :)
Thank you! It just doesn’t make sense to me when people say he’s a bad actor, or doesn’t have range or is overrated like are we watching the same person?
@@sadehenry4692 just jealousy. happens to pretty boys all the time.
Even though I have been his stan for three years and know he's talented as hell, I still got shocked when seeing his performance at 20. This is PURE TALENT. Im so proud of himmmmmm!!! Need the whole play!!!! Manhattan Theatre Club plz consider it!!!! I will pay to see it!!!
the fact that he is one of the most recognized actors of this age is amazing, i’m so proud of him
you got the prodigal son right there, timmy tim himself.
Perfect. 11:56 -- "Jesus: He just handed him his sword and said, "Kill me." "
The dialogue is so well written. That we can credit to playwright John Patrick Shanley.
The delivery is both natural and believable. We can credit Timotheé Chalamet with that.
Timothée should have won the Oscar: he's the most talented actor alive. Let's end youth discrimination: he shouldn't have to wait for his due. He's right up there with young Mozart and Bernini. A prodigy.
Exactly this!!
Yes, you are right. And I don't say that lightly. My discovery and introduction to "Timmy" has been hit and miss and quite irregular. I initially just stumbled onto him surfing the internet and then went from from very recent production to another one. But had never seen his early work - like this play.
From the more recent performances I knew he was excellent but had no idea he was THIS intelligent and talented. Boy was he a power-house even at this age.
I must honestly concede that he really is the best of his generation. Dynamic and expressive to the hilt.
It makes me sad that the footage exists to watch this whole production but that it’s not possible... so many people would love to see this I’m sure.
ETA Maybe making it available digitally would be a good fundraiser for the Manhattan Theatre Club? We’d all be happy to pay I’m sure. I can imagine that it’s been hit badly by covid. Just a suggestion :)
I was dreaming about it for YEARS! Thank you!!!
John Patrick Stanley! The boy from the Bronx you did an amazing job 👏 what insightful words, thought provoking writing. Truly loved it from every inch of my heart. Kudos to the actors who brought life to his work.
I'm grateful to have witnessed this in my lifetime. ❤
Many thanks to everyone involved!
I teach English in a Romanian highschool and earlier today I let my students know that in September we are starting a whole year project during which we are going to work on this AMAZING PLAY... and I was just telling them what a pity it is for us that we can t see the whole play... And here it is...the MIRACLE!!! LUCKY ME!!! As for CHALAMET... still not able to put into words everything I think and feel for this GENIUS GEM!!!!
I'm so happy to read that! (And not only because I'm a former Romanian English eacher too). Your future students are so lucky to have you.
im romanian and i really wish my english teacher taught this sort of stuff
RELEASE IT PLEASE WE'LL PAY TO WATCH IT
OMG! Timothee is SO TALANTED!! We need the whole play! PLEASE
The greatest actor of our generation.
I must agree. That comment is NOT 'over the top' in Timmy's case.
It was a dream for me to watch the whole play
The same 😪
Do you guys know where can I watch this online?
Timothee is a King!
So excited!! This play is what made me fall in love with Timothée’s acting so I’m looking forward to watching this
Update after watching:
Holy wowwww, this is just a masterpiece of a play😍
Did you watch the full play?? Where????🤔
@@pacopullet371 no unfortunately I’ve never been able to see the full thing
:( but I’ve watched all the available clips online which he is amazing in!! Hopefully one day a full version is uploaded on here, as I would love to see all of it
Hollywood move over if timothee can dominate the Stage like this......who cares if there's no Oscar!!Supremely talented, unlike 99% of the current so called "ACTORS"!!
Exactly right. Timothee is now so recognized in his stellar abilities that in a sense he has already created his own 'oscar' in many people's eyes. He truly is a s t a r in the theatrical sky.
@@johnkaylor8670 “… a star in the theatrical sky” - that’s Timothée Chalamet! You’re absolutely right.
timmy is so good it’s wild
Timothée Chalamet es un talento increible!!
Baby Timmy 😭😭❤️
Release the whole thing! I wanna watch it!
I'm just so proud of Timothée, good boy!!🙈
Can't wait!!
This was wonderful--a bit of theatrical history! Thank you, Manhattan Theatre Club, John Patrick Shanley, and all involved. Many of us (including me) think Timothée Chalamet is the actor of his generation. I wish I could have seen the play live, because as he said, there's nothing like live theatre. But still, this was lovely--a super treat!
Timotheeeeee you are beatiful
Timmy I ADORE YOU, your acting is just spectacular.
UPLOAD THE FULL PLAY PLEASE!!!!!!
I wanna watch the whole play.uninterupted
Timmyyyyyyy😭❤❤❤
His brilliant performance gives me goosebumps! Pure talent.
What a powerful performance from Chalamet. :0
he's such a talented actor, both onstage and off
That was first class. An unexpected and very welcome treat tonight. Such power in that performance and always mindful and respectful of the other players. As we say in Scotland. It was braw! Thanks to Tom Pe for flagging this up so I got the chance to enjoy!
This is actually the first play I saw at the MTC. Can't believe how long it's been
Looking forward to it.
I like Timothée's earlier work.
I hope he remains as genuine and passionate as he was when he started out.

Well, I am pleased to see some slightly longer film clips from the play but I have been under the impression that a whole performance of the play was filmed. This was a little disappointing but thank you for it nonetheless.
