November 19, 2023 Bishop Carlton D’Metrius Pearson, one of the most popular and influential preachers in America and around the world, who sacrificed everything for a message of unconditional love and acceptance by God, died peacefully the night of November 19, 2023, at the age of 70, after a brief battle with cancer that had returned after first defeating it 20 years ago. He was surrounded by his family. Moving to Tulsa in 1971, to become a student at Oral Roberts University, Carlton was invited by Oral Roberts himself to join the World Action Singers on his nationally-aired TV specials, eventually becoming an associate evangelist with the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association in 1975. In 1977, Carlton launched his own ministry, Higher Dimensions, Inc., traveling the country with a small ministry team. In 1981, with the help of his college roommate, Gary McIntosh, Carlton started Higher Dimensions Evangelistic Center, with 75 people attending its first service in Jenks, Oklahoma. Quickly outgrowing the small, storefront location in Jenks, Higher Dimensions eventually settled at 8621 South Memorial Drive in Tulsa, becoming an integrated, multi-ethnic, cross-cultural congregation of more than 5,000 members. A national television program launched in the mid-1980s, “Everything’s Gonna Be All Right,” expanded Carlton’s outreach to a national and international audience, becoming at that time one of only two African American preachers with a nationwide television ministry. His annual AZUSA Conference, begun in 1988, became an international movement, giving national exposure to a number of preachers and gospel singers, bringing together believers of all denominations, cultures, races and walks of life. The annual conference attracted as many as 70,000 people to Tulsa each year, generating tens of millions of dollars to the Tulsa economy during the week-long conference, as well as smaller weekend conferences held across the country each year, such as Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Jose, Tacoma, Buffalo and even Durban, South Africa. His “Live at AZUSA” albums were nominated for multiple Dove and Stellar Awards, winning three Stellar Awards for “Carlton Pearson Live at AZUSA 2: Precious Memories.” On the opening night of AZUSA ‘96, a group of pastors and bishops recognized his leadership by declaring him “a bishop in the Lord’s church.” The opening night of the following year’s conference, Bishop Carlton Pearson was officially consecrated in an ecclesiastical ceremony as the Presiding Bishop of the AZUSA Interdenominational Fellowship of Christian Churches and Ministries, establishing oversight of thousands of churches and ministries all over the world. He gave counsel to multiple U. S. Presidents, as well as a number of international presidents, kings and other leaders, who were won over by his intelligence, charm, humor and kindness. At the height of his popularity, Bishop Pearson had a shift in his theological beliefs, and began to preach that Jesus did not just die for and save Christians, but for all mankind, and that no one goes to hell as we’ve known it. This became known as “The Gospel of Inclusion,” a form of Christian theology known as universalism. This shift in belief caused churches, upon whose stages he once frequented, to close their doors to him, shut down his annual conference and caused his church to dwindle from thousands to only dozens. His theological shift was dramatized in a major motion picture, Netflix’s “Come Sunday,” starring Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave), Danny Glover (The Color Purple, Lethal Weapon), LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah, Atlanta) and Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now, The West Wing). Carlton’s message and example of unconditional love, though it gained him the moniker of “heretic” by some in the Christian church, had a whole new world opened to him as a result. Non-Christians, as well as Christians who had left the church as a result of church hurts, abuse, hypocrisy, etc., loved the new message of love, healing and restoration. He leaves a legacy of love through the multiplied thousands of lives he touched during his time on earth and the impartation of grace and mercy he preached and exhibited to everyone he encountered. Carlton, we were classmates in junior and senior high and pretend siblings. I remember you being on fire for the Lord and not ashamed to share the gospel on campus. I still remember you singing, "I Want to Live So God Can Use Me" in the talent show when no one else dared sing a gospel song in front of their peers! Also check Veron Ashe's prophesy from 2000 (two years before his change), as he already prophesied that these things would happen.

God will not violate anyone’s free will to choose Life, Him, or death, our own ways, thoughts and imaginations. In many cases I wish that He would, but, He, will not. Angels have free will as do we. These thoughts crossed my mind also that the doctrine of inclusion took you through a very dark and painful season of your life through much loss and disconnections of many in the body of Christ that you were in covenant relationship, who turned against you. I pray that you found it in your heart to forgive, release and bless those who turned away from you. My desire is to see you make Heaven. God has not forgotten your labor of love in his vineyard…my hearts desire again, is that you would look to the God that your fathers in the faith, parents and grandmother spoke to you about. I pray that Gods mercy will meet you in your final moments through a revelation of HIS love for Carlton Pearson, that there will be a reconciliation and a reunion through revelation of this knowledge and truth. Hell was not made or prepared for mankind or humanity. God send no one there, our personal choices in our Faith decides our outcome and destination and he has not left us ignorant on how to choose our eternal home. Me too. I use to watch him with my grandmother . She loved him . I’m 47, now and just thinking about those days, just gives my chills, snd make me want to cry. I lost my grandmother last year, and I find myself longing for those old days. Those days were so much better than ever! Now it’s like we living day to day fighting the evil, so we make it. I hate he is sick snd going through. I pray for him as well. A very good man.

When I heard that you’d been ostracized by the church(heard in 2021), I was stunned! I’d already left church and ministry in 2000, 21 years earlier, bc I’d simply seen far too much, for too long that I knew wasn’t God. I left my marketing post at the current church I was in and out I went. I have never ONCE regretted leaving: NOT ONCE. When I began to investigate why you’d been shunned, I was shocked but not surprised, because everything you were saying, I’d come to question back in ‘97-98. The lies, deception and untruths, along with so much more, my conscious and my heart for God and Jesus’ teaching wouldn’t allow me to stay. I started praying for you then, because I knew the religious vipers would never stop gnawing at you and that you needed to get through this and toughen up under the Hell they dispense: they’re excellent at kicking their own to death. Sir, I love you. Been following you for some time now. You’re the first person who prophesied to me, right after graduating from college. I still remember the prophesy, way back from 1990! It’s been a long journey for me, but I wouldn’t trade a thing! I love you. I’m standing w/you and I am grateful for your ministry. I bought all your writings since you left the religious tangled web. They’ve blessed me bc they affirmed every thing I’ve learning in my deconstruction. I had no one to assist me or who would /could, but the Spirit never leaves us and I simply trusted and remained open. Carlton Pearson I thank God for your contribution to the body of Christ and the Azuza Years. However, the theology that hell is not rea, I am here to tell you it is. I died and went to Heaven and was sent back by an Angel who told me it was not my time. I also had an encounter with satan who spoke and told me he was going to kill me and in a few weeks I was on by death bed but the Angel of the Lord visited my room and my life was preserved. I saying HEAVEN is REAL and so IS HELL.. HELL was NOT prepared for MAN but satan and his fallen angels and WE HAVE TO CHOOSE not to go there and the Bible gives us clear instructions how not to go there. Such theology that there is no hell, is not in alignment with scriptures but my prayer is that you will have your final moments in conversations with God and perhaps he will reveal himself to you in a new a fresh way that will open your heart and mind in a new way of seeing to acceptance of Jesus Christ finished work to save, redeem and receive you into Glory. How do you know there is a hell? Have you been there? Where is it? Is it up or down? Is it to my left or to my right? Where? How do you know Jesus said that? Did you hear him say it? Who heard him say that?
@herbertjreid3rd253 in this case it's more like "someone said, someone said, someone said, someone said, someone said... since there was no disciple named Matthew, Mark, Luke or John walking around with Jesus and had pins/paper to. Record everything he said. These were stories that were passed through generations and nothing was put on paper until over 400 years after they say a Jesus existed. The catholic church added those names to the Gospels just to give them more credibility. Even worse, there were copies and copies and copies and copies that had to be made by scribes who had no light bulbs and they were copying these Gospels with candlelight. Mistakes definitely happened. Moreover, there is no original Bible. Biblical archeologist have to excavate caves and underground to get fragments of already copied scripture. Then they put it together. These fragments also contradict each other. The first bible wasn't even put together until the 1500s and it isn't even the same bible as the one they read today. Let's not even talk about translations. Christians have over 30 translations of their own Bible. So, what did Jesus really say and how do they know?

Repentance is a beautiful, necessary, and deeply personal spiritual practice. It's something we all must master. Let's not assume that our dear Bishop hasn't done so bc you may not agree w/some of the things he has said/done. When we're in the middle of health challenges, the last we need is public and very vocal judgment from our brethren. It's unkind. We need prayer, encouragement, empathy, strength, and kindness, as we reflect on things like family, life, and death. Can we leave everything else to God? He knows how to speak to each of us in the way we can understand and receive.

Bishop Carlton D’Metrius Pearson, one of the most popular and influential preachers in America and around the world, who sacrificed everything for a message of unconditional love and acceptance by God, died peacefully the night of November 19, 2023, at the age of 70, after a brief battle with cancer that had returned after first defeating it 20 years ago. He was surrounded by his family.
Moving to Tulsa in 1971, to become a student at Oral Roberts University, Carlton was invited by Oral Roberts himself to join the World Action Singers on his nationally-aired TV specials, eventually becoming an associate evangelist with the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association in 1975.
In 1977, Carlton launched his own ministry, Higher Dimensions, Inc., traveling the country with a small ministry team. In 1981, with the help of his college roommate, Gary McIntosh, Carlton started Higher Dimensions Evangelistic Center, with 75 people attending its first service in Jenks, Oklahoma. Quickly outgrowing the small, storefront location in Jenks,
Higher Dimensions eventually settled at 8621 South Memorial Drive in Tulsa, becoming an integrated, multi-ethnic, cross-cultural congregation of more than 5,000 members.
A national television program launched in the mid-1980s, “Everything’s Gonna Be All Right,” expanded Carlton’s outreach to a national and international audience, becoming at that time one of only two African American preachers with a nationwide television ministry.
His annual AZUSA Conference, begun in 1988, became an international movement, giving national exposure to a number of preachers and gospel singers, bringing together believers of all denominations, cultures, races and walks of life. The annual conference attracted as many as 70,000 people to Tulsa each year, generating tens of millions of dollars to the Tulsa economy during the week-long conference, as well as smaller weekend conferences held across the country each year, such as Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Jose, Tacoma, Buffalo and even Durban, South Africa.
His “Live at AZUSA” albums were nominated for multiple Dove and Stellar Awards, winning three Stellar Awards for “Carlton Pearson Live at AZUSA 2: Precious Memories.”
On the opening night of AZUSA ‘96, a group of pastors and bishops recognized his leadership by declaring him “a bishop in the Lord’s church.” The opening night of the following year’s conference, Bishop Carlton Pearson was officially consecrated in an ecclesiastical ceremony as the Presiding Bishop of the AZUSA Interdenominational Fellowship of Christian Churches and Ministries, establishing oversight of thousands of churches and ministries all over the world.
He gave counsel to multiple U. S. Presidents, as well as a number of international presidents, kings and other leaders, who were won over by his intelligence, charm, humor and kindness.
At the height of his popularity, Bishop Pearson had a shift in his theological beliefs, and began to preach that Jesus did not just die for and save Christians, but for all mankind, and that no one goes to hell as we’ve known it. This became known as “The Gospel of Inclusion,” a form of Christian theology known as universalism. This shift in belief caused churches, upon whose stages he once frequented, to close their doors to him, shut down his annual conference and caused his church to dwindle from thousands to only dozens.
His theological shift was dramatized in a major motion picture, Netflix’s “Come Sunday,” starring Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave), Danny Glover (The Color Purple, Lethal Weapon), LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah, Atlanta) and Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now, The West Wing).
Carlton’s message and example of unconditional love, though it gained him the moniker of “heretic” by some in the Christian church, had a whole new world opened to him as a result. Non-Christians, as well as Christians who had left the church as a result of church hurts, abuse, hypocrisy, etc., loved the new message of love, healing and restoration. He leaves a legacy of love through the multiplied thousands of lives he touched during his time on earth and the impartation of grace and mercy he preached and exhibited to everyone he encountered.

These thoughts crossed my mind also that the doctrine of inclusion took you through a very dark and painful season of your life through much loss and disconnections of many in the body of Christ that you were in covenant relationship, who turned against you. I pray that you found it in your heart to forgive, release and bless those who turned away from you. My desire is to see you make Heaven. God has not forgotten your labor of love in his vineyard…my hearts desire again, is that you would look to the God that your fathers in the faith, parents and grandmother spoke to you about.
I pray that Gods mercy will meet you in your final moments through a revelation of HIS love for Carlton Pearson, that there will be a reconciliation and a reunion through revelation of this knowledge and truth. Hell was not made or prepared for mankind or humanity. God send no one there, our personal choices in our Faith decides our outcome and destination and he has not left us ignorant on how to choose our eternal home.

When I heard that you’d been ostracized by the church(heard in 2021), I was stunned! I’d already left church and ministry in 2000, 21 years earlier, bc I’d simply seen far too much, for too long that I knew wasn’t God. I left my marketing post at the current church I was in and out I went. I have never ONCE regretted leaving: NOT ONCE. When I began to investigate why you’d been shunned, I was shocked but not surprised, because everything you were saying, I’d come to question back in ‘97-98. They’ve blessed me bc they affirmed every thing I’ve learning in my deconstruction. Carlton Pearson I thank God for your contribution to the body of Christ and the Azuza Years. However, the theology that hell is not rea, I am here to tell you it is. I died and went to Heaven and was sent back by an Angel who told me it was not my time. I also had an encounter with satan who spoke and told me he was going to kill me and in a few weeks I was on by death bed but the Angel of the Lord visited my room and my life was preserved. I saying HEAVEN is REAL and so IS HELL.. HELL was NOT prepared for MAN but satan and his fallen angels and WE HAVE TO CHOOSE not to go there and the Bible gives us clear instructions how not to go there.
Such theology that there is no hell, is not in alignment with scriptures but my prayer is that you will have your final moments in conversations with God and perhaps he will reveal himself to you in a new a fresh way that will open your heart and mind in a new way of seeing to acceptance of Jesus Christ finished work to save, redeem and receive you into Glory.

How do you know there is a hell? Have you been there? Where is it? Is it up or down? Is it to my left or to my right? Where? How do you know Jesus said that? Did you hear him say it? Who heard him say that?

@herbertjreid3rd253 in this case it's more like "someone said, someone said, someone said, someone said, someone said... since there was no disciple named Matthew, Mark, Luke or John walking around with Jesus and had pins/paper to. Record everything he said. These were stories that were passed through generations and nothing was put on paper until over 400 years after they say a Jesus existed. The catholic church added those names to the Gospels just to give them more credibility. Even worse, there were copies and copies and copies and copies that had to be made by scribes who had no light bulbs and they were copying these Gospels with candlelight. Mistakes definitely happened. Moreover, there is no original Bible. Biblical archeologist have to excavate caves and underground to get fragments of already copied scripture. Then they put it together. These fragments also contradict each other. The first bible wasn't even put together until the 1500s and it isn't even the same bible as the one they read today.
Let's not even talk about translations. Christians have over 30 translations of their own Bible.
So, what did Jesus really say and how do they know?

Repentance is a beautiful, necessary, and deeply personal spiritual practice. It's something we all must master. Let's not assume that our dear Bishop hasn't done so bc you may not agree w/some of the things he has said/done.
When we're in the middle of health challenges, the last we need is public and very vocal judgment from our brethren. It's unkind. We need prayer, encouragement, empathy, strength, and kindness, as we reflect on things like family, life, and death. Can we leave everything else to God? He knows how to speak to each of us in the way we can understand and receive.
