  • Burkina Faso, under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has been experiencing a period of renewed optimism and progress, drawing attention from around the world. The positive changes and development initiatives spearheaded by Traoré have sparked interest among many who are eager to visit the country and explore its potential for investment. Whether you're a tourist, an entrepreneur, or an expatriate, understanding what it takes to visit and what it costs to live in Burkina Faso is essential. From visa requirements and travel preparations to housing, food, and daily expenses, this guide provides a comprehensive overview of what you need to know before making the journey to this vibrant West African nation. As Burkina Faso continues to evolve, it offers unique opportunities for those looking to experience its rich culture, contribute to its growth, and potentially establish a foothold in its promising future. However, before traveling to Burkina Faso, most visitors will need to obtain a visa. The process is generally straightforward but can vary depending on your country of origin. With all that noted, let’s now start with the cost of housing.
Housing costs in Burkina Faso vary significantly depending on the location and type of accommodation. In urban centers like Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, rent for a one-bedroom apartment ranges from $150 to $350 per month, while a three-bedroom apartment can cost between $300 and $800. Outside city centers, housing is more affordable, with one-bedroom apartments available for $80 to $200 per month and three-bedroom apartments for $200 to $500. Utilities, including electricity, water, gas, and garbage collection, typically add an additional $50 to $150 to monthly expenses. Overall, housing represents a significant portion of the cost of living, particularly for those residing in urban areas.

Unless you invest or work in Burkina Faso your money will vanish quickly if you want to keep a western standard of living. Housing and energy are expensive here. I live with $1200 a month and my lifestyle is simple. For someone who used to save $4000 a month in the USA I feel broke.

Also my reply took into consideration people who live in a western country who are planning on coming to Burkina Faso. This year the state of Burkina hired 5000 new government employees. Over 2 million and 5000 people applied. This means that 2 million people seeking jobs will not find any. It is the same story year after year this is why the president is striving to industrialize Burkina Faso.

10- Due to lack of banking protection a lot of people resort to third parties to order goods. Meaning you can do business in Burkina from a country with banking protection.

If you can recycle metals and plastic you might be able to get a government grant to set up your factory. We still export scrap metals.
Most of the stuff we buy from stores are imported so if you have any skills to turn raw materials into finished product you will be king
