There should be an enchantment called Tax Evasion that just lets you ignore paying prices on on your opponent's cards
Super fun game to watch. Glad that all three decks showcased their main strategies. Though have to say it, it saddens me how games these days are becoming more and more centered around-and impacted by-cards like Smothering Tithe, Rhystic Study, Dockside Extortionist, Esper Sentinel etc...Gets to a point where the games aren't that different from each other.
Truth. Too many "staples" define the game more than the deck's purpose.
I agree with you, quite a lot. It can really tilt the game to one players flavour. And it doesn't help that some so not care about others boadstate. As in having rhystic, drawing extra cards etc. Like no wonder they run off with the game when you feed them.
And yeah thats one of the reasons I barerly play any of them, nor do I really play tutors. I'd rather draw cards instead. I think I run one demonic tutor in one deck, rhystic study in another and esper sentinel in a third. But thats me, I def do play a few of them. I just don't wsnt things to get too homogenized and like in this case, quite taxing.
I get your point, but if you want to win you need to get more resources than your opponents, so it's only natural that cards that provide a lot of value end up being more important than the cards that make you win. You can only put so many win conditons or synergies in your deck, you won't be able to play them unless you have enough mana / draw enough cards.
1:06 Belakor. What can I say? I’m a warhead.
I've gotta say my favorite horror/halloween themed commander has to be Tovolar. He was the Werewolf/wolf commander we needed and is so fun to play. As well, Werewolves have always been my favorite horror movie monster. So finally getting to build a proper deck of the creature type was a dream come true
Nethroi, Apex of death is my favorite spooky commander. it's the first card I got from the ikoria set and I came in second in draft at my local lGS with it.
Loving when the brains get smooth
I believe the demon player seems to have completely forgotten he attacked with rakdos lord of riots during his turn, and over payed for ever single creature he cast. He might have honestly won the game that turn with the double dockside triggers.
Even with that, he generated 28 treasures and Demonic Tutored like 4 times in one turn and still ended the turn at the lowest life total and with the weakest board state. The deck seems to function well as a shell (and is very cool), but he really needs to work on better payloads. It's fine if your meta doesn't want combos that win on the spot with Sneak Attack + Razaketh + a ton of mana such as Oracle/Consult or Mikaeus/Triskelion, but you shouldn't be running that kind of engine at all if you can't do more with it than this.
He sacced Rakdos to Razaketh for a search, so no he didn't overpay. As soon as Rakdos isn't on the battlefield he doesn't reduce the casting cost.
Love me some Be'Lakor.
The game should've ended by 9:06 lol
Matt literally had the ability to tutor up WHATEVER he wanted, pay 1 mana to get TWO of any demon, dealt TWICE each copy's power to any target, on top of all of them having haste from the sneak attack and molten echo. Forgetting to put the tokens on the board is one thing but he could've won even without that. There were just TOO MANY cascading advantages between dockside, the tutors, sneak attack, and echos.
Damn, really awesome game!
Dope Ever Changing Dane deck
Sad that most commander games end up being the same 5 staples in each color
That was a spooooky number of triggers!
Guys, great stuff
grate game guys Sooo meany Bloody TAXES but i just have one question for you Logan where did u get that playmat 🤣🤣🤣🤣
cool game, early smothering tithe snowballs goes hard
Really fun game!
Love the Dane
very cool game
if that belakor deck had a rite of replication, at exactly 7:15 instead of casting molten echoes you couldve sacrificed dockside extortionist to grab a rite of replication and then sneak attacked in runescarred demon to tutor any counterspells, couldve won right there with a 150 dmg belakor etb nuke
fun game. do you consider the 4 decks showcased to be high powered edh decks ? maybe not to the point of really high end tuned cedh decks but around 7 8 or 9 ?
I do
Be’lakor (sp?…) seems sick. Are there any mono blue demons? Dimir? The only grixis ones I know of are him and Xandy. There must be some outside of mono black and rakdos right?
There are a few that were released in the new 40k precons. The two mono blue ones I know of (because I use them) are Lord of Change and Heralds of Tzeentch. Then there are a few izzet demons but I'm not sure of their names.
@@Ray-ws6rk Oh yeah, i've definitely seen folks cast Heralds of Tzeentch. Lord of Change seems awesome
Why do you give the spirit tokens to the spirit deck
Great game
Didn't think CHandler would be able to do much once Dane was darksteeled but he managed to nt only stay in it but win it!
Rhystic Study and Smothering Tithe win games on top of being super annoying. Given how pervasive they are in the format and how “unfun” they are, I think they potentially meet the criteria to be worth a ban.
I mean, just agree with your play group not to use them?
This is one of the grossest games I’ve seen y’all play. The taxes, the triggers, searching others decks… horrific at best (perfect for Halloween)
Good game.
Shows why white is the worst color with 2 smothering in play.
tithe just ruins games
Don't narrate tithe and study triggers that aren't paid for.
I disagree. While this game did have a metric ton of triggers, it’s important to know they aren’t paid for. Just my opinion though
honestly I'm fine with the narration there, it's quite funny how many taxes there are.
Wtf kinda toxic bs is smothering tithe?
This game is so grossly unbalanced.
Why is this just basically CEDH decks...this looks miserable to play.....
I'm not sure how familiar you are with cEDH but none of these decks are even close to cEDH
