just fyi, you can ground your black wire to any nearby metal spot on your car. ie; body bolt, headlight harness, etc.. and eliminate the 5 ft. of tied ground wire. Great vid!

You should do a retrofit on the headlights and upgrade the projector that came with it.

Great video man! I wonder if you could put a bulb in the middle similar to a halogen bulb(ring) because that would be my ideal setup. Can’t seem to find what I’m looking for anywhere

Attempting this on a 2009 Shelby Mustang GT500 and we’ve been successful with the daytime running lights but the projectors and brights don’t seem to be working. Also, when the home made wiring is connected to the fuse box, the car doesn’t actually start. It turns over, but appears the engine isn’t getting fuel to actually start up. Any suggestions?

I do know there are a few differences from the gt500 from the normal mustangs (other than the engine of course). You could look up that fuse box schematic to see what that fuse does. If it works when you undo your change, then maybe it's for the fuel pump?
The wire harness I made is just for the LEDs. Even with it disconnected, the headlights should still work. Did you do anything different than I did? Did you purchase LED bulbs or are you using the bulbs that the headlights come with? Did you purchase the same headlights? Does the bulb not even come on? If you hook up your old bulb, does it come on?

Same exact headlights, they are straight out of the box. It is the fuel pump fuse, it has a bit of a tilt when the fuse tap is installed but it’s still seated pretty well, don’t know why the car won’t start. Thought it may be grounding somewhere but that wasn’t it. If I just take the fuse tap out, replace the original fuse, it starts right up. It also has “Engine” fuses 1-4, only 2 has been successful in lighting the headlamps. The “marble” projector part of the headlight won’t light up though, only the 3 LED strips. It’s been a pain in the ass trying to figure it out for 2 days now.

Tracking the harness is for daytime running light usage, but the projector part of the headlight has never came on, neither side. Since it comes with zero directions your video has been a great help, thank you.

My guess is there is an issue with the fuse tap then or the fuse that you put in the bottom part of the fuse tap. The easy assumption is your fuel pump isn't getting power when you put in the fuse tap. Must not be on all the way or far enough. You said it's at a slight angle, it could not be making a connection.
Personally, if you are able, I would use a different fuse if you can. I'd stay away from important circuits like the fuel pump.
Even your stock headlights/bulbs won't come on?

As an update, we have this figured out! Used Engine #1 in the fuse box which allowed the car to start when the wiring was connected. Then we had to tap back into the harness from the car to the light and now everything works as it should! Great video and advice! Thanks again!

@@BudgetNerdso how did you go about putting in the LED bulb? Did it fit in there? The ones in your link say "fog lights".

    • @BudgetNerd

They might be branded as fog lights, but they fit without issue.
