What does pKa mean?

  • Have you heard of the term pKa? It's widely used when talking about acids and bases (and, for that matter, salts) but what does it actually mean? Why are some acids stronger than others and how do you tell from their pKa value? Why do bases have a pKa? All these issues and more are explained in this video. It might be worth reminding yourself of what acids and bases are before you watch though;
