This thing is so fucking badass. Tissot rules lately. I get why some folks experience the various prx variants as wearing too large with the way the lugs and the bracelet interact. Different strokes for different wrists. This is a legit alternative to the Hammy chronos which I also love. Thank you Teddy as always for such detailed coverage.

It's kinda crazy how Tissot manage to pull off this great series of watches for this price. I think this will bring Tissot to become a much more popular brand in the future (considering they seem to have been looked at as a bit "meh" the past few years from what I've heard) . On another point, I'm currently opting to buy an automatic PRX, haven't yet set on what dial color, and maybe hoping they soon will release a new series of 40mm's with some interesting dial options. Even a day/date/moonphase with a cool dial layout, that would be my choice if I could pick! The crono is pretty sweet tho, I like the blue one a lot!

How big is your wrist, if you don't mind me asking??
I have a 7.25" wrist, maybe just slightly larger, and definitely plan on stopping somewhere to try it on before purchasing online as I'm not sure if it'll look TOO small or not.
I bought a quartz 40mm not long after they came out, and loved it... But found myself wishing it was just a BIT smaller. I was able to find a great fit with the bracelet, and I was lucky enough to get one that didn't have any issues with the seconds hand not hitting the markers like so many have brought to light... But even on my wrist, the very large "real" lug-to-lug had me wanting a 36-38mm BADLY. It didn't exactly have any actual "overhang" but there was a bit of space between that first link and my skin, if that makes sense, which just bothered me a bit which ultimately pushed me to put it up on eBay back when it was nearly impossible to find the Blue or Black Dial Quartz in stock.
Tissot makes Rubber straps for the PRX line, and makes an automatic 35mm and it's game over... I'll go buy another 40mm Quartz, put it on Black Rubber, and then grab a 35mm Automatic real quick!

    • @ehuntley83
      @ehuntley83 Před 2 lety

@@idonotexist_ my wrist is about 6.5”. The 35mm is a perfect fit, especially with the integrated bracelet, since that gives it a slightly wider lug appearance, and lug-to-lug.

I bought the 1853 heritage Chrono and was extremely pleased with the finishing and wear, but after using the Chrono realized it had a faulty movement (Chrono seconds hands wouldn’t reset to zero correctly and kept gaining around the dial) so back it went. I have the 3 hand PRX PM80 blue dial and for the price it really is incredible value for the money given the quality of finish. The chronograph version looks great, the slim mid case hides the thickness well with a deeper case back and taller bezel. PERFECTLY done video on these pieces Teddy! Great work, as always 👍
If Tissot was able to make this 40mm/wear like the 40mm PRXs, I would be ALL OVER one of the two...
I'm not the biggest "Blue-Dial guy", but the gold-tone accents have me leaning more toward the Blue-Dial here. If they kept everything SS, the other would be an easy choice for me personally. That vertical brushing on the Dials, whew, gorgeous. Even the vert brushing on the Black-Dial Quartz PRX I used to own looked amazing... When you could actually see it, at least. Indoors, it almost always just looked BLACK, but outside on a nice sunny day? Damn nice for such an affordable piece. The Dials on the Quartz models/these are SO much better looking than the "waffle"-style they chose to go with for the P80 IMO.
I don't really REGRET selling my Black-Dial Quartz PRX, simply because I got it from an online AD that had a few codes I was able to stack to get it for a great price... Wore the crap out of it... And was still able to sell it on eBay for just under what I paid (at the time I sold it, most places were sold out of the Blue or Black Dial PRXs) but MAN I miss it. BADLY. The only reason I sold it was because Tissot hinted a smaller version coming soon on IG, and although I have a 7.25" wrist I always wished the 40 was a tad smaller. But now I'm struggling with the fact the new 35 might be TOO small after seeing wrist shots of it on VERY small wrists... I'm going to need to stop at a Macy's or something next time I'm at or near the Mall to try both the 35mm and Chrono on/see them in person when they have both in, since that's much closer than any decent AD around me.
I'm totally fine with the chrono being a thick piece... I expected it the second I saw an article in my Google Discover News feed, maybe a week or so before Teddy's video with Tissot at W&W popped up here, simply because I knew how thick the movement inside is. I'm not a fan at all of the "push to change date", which would probably be my biggest gripe outside of the size... I really do wish they saw all of the feedback about the ACTUAL lug-to-lug with that first link included and did something to change that so it would be much more wearable on a variety of wrists, but if Tissot (or another company...) would just make a decent rubber strap for the whole line, that would make each of them quite a bit more wearable. And rubber on a PRX case would look great IMO. Similar to a lot of the Defy models from Zenith on rubber. It just works. I was actually shocked the chrono didn't look INSANELY huge on Teddy's wrist (no offense if you read this essay, brotha 😅), but you can see the overhang in a lot of the shots/the bracelet just shooting straight down an not hugging the wrist... But I didn't think somebody with a wrist under 7" would be able to pull it off whatsoever, so now I'll definitely have to be sure to check one out in person as soon as I'm able along with the 35mm Models. No idea why they chose NOT to make a BLACK-DIAL 35mm, but it is what it is. And from the shots I've seen, the Blue-Dial doesn't appear to have that gorgeous sunburst that the 40 has, which may just be lighting but I'm not sure. If I like how the 35 wears on my wrist, I'll likely wait to see if they plan on an automatic before deciding. I would mind the "waffle" dial much less on a 35mm piece than the 40mm personally.
Ok, shit, no more coffee for me today /📑

More of a tool vibe, but take a look at the Archimede Outdoor Chronograph. Very similar case design, but more of a field watch dial, and only 13.8mm thick. It also doesn’t have an integrated bracelet

It's also crazy how a very cumbersome feature like having to use a stick to change the date is immediately a deal breaker of an otherwise attractive looking watch. That would be such a hassle to have to use a separate tool to change the date every time your power reserve is out!! No thanks!

I already ordered mine with blue dial. I saw it at an Authorize dealer and it looks much better in person than in pictures or videos. An automatic switch chronograph of mostly any other brand, could cost double the price or more. Even still above $1.5 K could be considered high, I consider that the price is fair for what you can obtain.

While definitely too large for my wrist and taste, it's a beautiful watch, and that Valjoux movement and accuracy are very desirable. While $1700 USD seems a lot, considering the price of other desirable near-luxury and luxury watches, it is actually quite reasonable. Maybe they could step up the case finishing a bit would be my only suggestion.

If this movt is like Hamilton's H-31, you can also change the date via the old fashioned method of going quickly between pre and post midnight times. I think it's 10pm-1am but it could be 8pm-12am I forget. The date pusher thing sticks on my Hamilton H-31 chrono and I tried that old trick and it worked ti advance the date.

But noticed in the corner of my eye the Tissot prx 42 chronograph blue panda WOW watch a watch everything screams quality and craftsmanship the blue dial POPS felt like a Zenith El Primero or Rolex Daytona Panda.

  • @masoodrazaq

I tried this on last week at Zurich airport. The blue with white dials chrono felt a little too brash and chunky for my taste, especially since I already have a number of 43-45mm watches in my collection (Rolex Deepsea, Panerai Luminor, Breitling Chrono Avenger etc.). In the end I went for a blue dial PRX Powermatic, which seemed more simple, elegant and comfortable. Also saved myself about $1000. I would consider this chrono if it were all monochrome dial, like black with white numerals. Let’s see how the product line develops…

Having said this I did experience friends having small wrists being able to wear that watch appropriately. tissot is becoming a game changer. their selection with their prices, and especially the PRX in all versions from quartz ( swiss watch for 350 dollars, WHAT!!!!) to this chrono, is unreal. omega had to do it with swatch, but the watch ended up being cheap plastic, this is a proper watch. a tissot PRX, a junghans max bill and a casio of your choice, you casn have a world class three watch collection for under 1000 and walk around looking like an absolute badass.
