Petrol Automatic is anyday better....Plus it saves you the hassle of DEF if your running is less...makes no sense to buy a diesel as THAR primarily would be a second car for most buyers.

I have a X6 2017 model that i drive but i personally prefer thar for my daily drive this car is absolutely wonderful in terms of driving , road presence , durability everything. And about body rolls i have a fortuner as well which is for a good odd 40 lakhs and it to has body rolls so if it a suv it will have body rolls and thar is a proper SUV. But each one has their own opinion.

Thar 30000 k baad steel factory mein convert ho jati h itni cabin noise ati h. I don't like this car i recently sold out 2021 model after running 35000. Very uncomfortable car because ap every time off-roading nahi karte High way per comfort chahiye hota h jo isme nahi h. Believe me olx bhara hua new thar ki resale se.
Bhai I drove my petrol auto. from Hisar to Bangalore (2400 km) in 3 days with my wife and a DOG. I have an XUV, New Honda City and a Renault kwid (to compare with). The fuel efficiency was 11.7 and the ride was fantastic.

You can’t take away body roll from an off roader like thar. It has its own purpose. And for someone coming from a sedan which has negligible body roll you would find such off roader very uncomfortable. I have driven sedan all my life and I don’t know why Indian consumers prefer these SUV cars which are not comfortable and come with a lot of body roll. Sedans are fun on roads and SUVs are fun on offroads. And majority of us will drive on roads not offroads

Thar is a different vehicle. One need to understand this basic point. It will be bumpy, shaky, rolling and so on at different times that too on Indian roads. It won't be comfortable like a sedan or a van and other so called SUVs which aren't. We need to be aware of these differences before we buy. I have one and I enjoy driving it.
