There is a plugin called a "De-esser". That is what he would need to use to rid that problem. And for you Nick, you might consider a soft-clipper & or a limiter/compressor so that you aren't clipping/red barring so that you can avoid distortion whenever you get too close to the mic (incase you were wondering why that happens :)

Too many big name streamers perform like crazy in the comfort of their own home on their own setup, but when it comes time to competing on a stage on a generic setup that isn’t their own, they crumble. Doc, tim and nick are the only legit streamers at this point.
