- In this video, I reveal the new best stretched resolution that a ton of pro players have been using and keeping a secret, as well as the best tutorial for how to get zero input delay stretched res using CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) and Display Scaling. The last stretched res video I did was about 6 months ago, and because an even newer and better stretched resolution has become popular, as well as since the last stretched res tutorial I posted was using GPU Scaling, I have decided to make an updated Display Scaling guide with CRU. @@NHSMINDLESS I just did what he said LOL, just click restart all and than restart64 something... than go to display settings and go advanced and click the monitor resolution! thats what I did, and when I restarted my pc it said 1720x1080

Great Video But I'd Like to add a quality of life thing. For switching back and forth to native settings. You can also leave your 1920x1080 at 240hz at the top. So when you wanna switch back. you just go back to windows settings and list all modes hop back and forth from 1720 and 1920 at 240hz. No need to reset settings and re-apply stretched.

Thank you so much Jerian :D This was the first tutorial that actually worked for me, when ever i try doing the GPU scaling, my refresh rate drops from 240 to 120 and i cant change it back to 240 hz. BUT this time i have 240!!
EDIT: and i am on AMD, so for all you AMD users, this works!

@@Rat_776 idk, i just went to the AMD software and then removed all the custom res, then just changed the scaling mode from center to full, and then it worked for some reason :))

For anyone that’s having trouble with black bars you have to put your scaling mode on aspect ratio instead of no scaling
i put it on aspect ratio but im still having black bars when im on fortnite and jus on anything else on my pc

Some fixes for ya'll:
1. No 1720 x 1080 option in display settings: DONT delete the extension blocks in CRU. Don't delete anything inside of it either, just do everything else jerian says (copy the values from the lowest option).
2. In the display settings after running restart64.exe, make sure the refresh rate is on 60hz (before you go into the settings outside of the default windows setting app).

don't know if anyone else got this problem but for me when i changed back to native res the quality of everything on my screen got really bad, all i had to do was switch back to gpu scaling and check in the ''Override the scaling mode set by games and programs'' box and it got fixed
im on the stretch res and my qaulity is horible is there a fix

for anyone that needs to revert back to the normal settings, just goto CRU application, click ok, then go back to “reset-all” and then “restart” and all should be back to normal.

You don’t actually need to delete any of the other resolutions for that to work, when you add the stretched res you will be able to use it the same way and it will count as if it is your native, i tried it, it works and i switching back to 1920x1080 is as simple as just switching my res in display settings
If your having a problem with your monitor having display scaling and doing all the steps right and getting a black screen or screen that is grey and a bunch of rainbow colors you just gotta change your hmdi/ display port cable that fixed it for me

For anyone who does this but has 60hz in game, cycle through the resolutions in the Fortnite settings and re-apply the stretched.

I am using fullscreen and having 120ish looking hz but there is no other resolutions to swap through when in fullscreen. I am using fullscreen exclusive for this to have no delay but in windowed mode I have 240 hz instead of 120hz

@@Skunklol go to nvidia control panel and set adjust image settings with preview to use the advanced 3d image setting. Then go to manage 3d settings and find ur monitor and set preffered refresh rate to highest available

If you are still getting black bars, simply change the aspect ratio on your monitor to 16:9

Great Vid jerian but one problem for me atleast i followed through and it ended up not showing on any of the list modes all i saw were the old ones and i made sure it all worked and it locked monitor display scaling and put on gpu and doesnt show the stretched res at all

I tried this got black screened for about 3 hours then followed the doctor hancho and i had to use my old keyboard but im just glad I got it

instead of doing 1750x1080 you would do 2390x1440 i believe although i haven't done it, i'm on 1440p too and you have to change some stuff up, its weird. But it should work, im too lazy do to the see if it works now but let me know if it works

It will just mess up. Just follow the tutorial
For anyone having trouble with speaker issues with the monitor, do not delete the entire extension block since the data blocks have the audio format.

How can I fix it?
Go back to the program and reset all so you will go back to your original settings. After you return u can do stretch again but don't delete audio formats inside the extention block

Instead of manually putting into safe mode you can just press F8 and it will go into recovery mode easier
They removed that with the Metro bootloader that came out with Windows 8, so you have to manually enable the legacy bootloader to do that
i keep having a problem where my cru has a res of 1680 by 1080 at the bottom not the 1920 and theres not one that has 144hrz in the extension block

Move it up by clicking on the res then using the up arrow on the right of cru. It will make it your native res
Guys if you just stopped wanting to do it in the middle of using display scalling and something happened where your monitor stopped working unplug the power cable for the monitor then wait 30 seconds then plug it back on then everything should go back to normal

Oh god, I remember using this on my old gaming laptop to boost my monitor’s Hz to what it can actually achieve (92Hz), but sacrificing so much quality. It absolutely destroyed my monitor’s quality, but in return going from 60Hz to 90Hz which was huge to me back then. Now I’m chillin on 360Hz
Update: decided to try stretch res, and once I did “restart64.exe” my monitor just kept dying LMAO. Ended up being too lazy to go for it again so I’ll just stay on native

guys if you have trouble with not finding the stretched resolution in the Advanced display settings. Don’t delete The extension blocks because it also deletes the res you did for cru

What do you do if you go into the CRU and there aren't any detailed resolutions?
i think that there is a restart file and if you double click it should restart to default

I recommend you extracting the file instead of clicking directly on to the extracted folder as it is safer to not get your PC cause problems

For anyone who has trouble read this comment. I messed up or missed a step cs it went black and my wallpaper was wired. So I restarted everything and shut my pc off. When I tried turning it back on it was just a grey screen. I was able to get into safe mode but that didn’t help me at all. So if your on the grey screen. You have to have a second monitor to do this. All you have to do is turn your second monitor off and just sign it and make your main monitor your main but going into settings, display and then click on your monitors and make your main the main one.
Can you make a newer tutorial? I did all the staps right, yes i double, triple checked and it is not working. When i try to switch it to 1720 x 1080 in the advanced display settings it doesnt show up. And also my desktop screen is stretched tho, but i checked in FN and 1720 x 1080 doesnt show up there either

If someone is getting black bars follow these steps, 1. Don’t delete the Extension blocks, if you have no worries at the top where you can select the monitor you can select the monitors the way to the right select delete and redo all the steps except deleting the extension block, Hope it helps!

noo i just figured it out i didnt explain correctly at first. you have to delete your monitor at the top and if it appears as you having the same monitor twice delete it aswell then click reset 64 or reset then go to nvidia and change the resolution once and change it back to 1920 x 1080 then once you open cru it should have the extensions block back and sorry for the late response i dont rlly use this acc

Great vid Jerian, but I came across a problem where on the CRU.exe I did not have any extension blocks to copie. And i could not find the new stretch in the advanced settings after. Any tips?

I'm pretty sure old stretch res (higher fov) still works in creative and pubs, so it would be a fun video idea to try it out.

I need help, I kept doing the steps but once we got to change the detailed resolutions it only capped to 60hertz and once we finished the rest I was not able to put on 144hz only 60. I did exactly what the video said and I got the resolution and everything but my hertz stayed at 60
