i feel like i've seen that thumbnail somewhere 🤔
OH GOD YOU’RE RIGHT. In my defence it’s a common meme format.
But I guess everyone go sub to Cara, her thumbnail is better than mine anyway.
don't worry laith there's only so many memes to go around 😭
but seriously it's honestly pretty wholesome and i like your spin on it too so actually no worries at all 😇✌ (and it's not like i own the meme anyways too lmao)
Copying thumbnails?
God Laith I thought you were better than this, absolute disappointment 😞
@@Leo-ok3ujas the discipointment I can say it's true
What I love the most about ck2 is the little details, the little sounds like when you click something or baby being born or the little event music, the council member 3D characters in the map, the little artworks for the events, it was all so unique, I wish they had a mod that added those things to ck3
Ck3 needs a lot of more things from Ck2
Specifically all of them.
dw only 18 more dlcs
Yeah like having to buy a dlc to play Muslims
@@karaltar7914either way we have to pay for merchant republics again 🤤🤤😁😁
@@karaltar7914at least Muslims actually had mechanical differences that meant something, we had to wait for how long and even then clans just kinda feel like shitty feudalism.
Ck2 was the game that got me into grand strategy back in like 2014, man, the good ole days.
Lol, same, started with the aGoT mod for CK2.
still has better mechanics than 3
3:44 the sway button is the green plus at the top of the character interaction buttons window. You can also eventually rival people with the red one.
People might disagree and me myself 5 years ago would have disagreed but I actually love the way armies work and fight in ck2 especially compared to ck3. Its much deeper and small kingdomes can actually beat back larger ones without cheesing men at arms but by having a good tech level and army composition. Thats probably one of the major things im missing in ck3, deep and engaging warfare.
Bro I won so many battles stacked against me by choosing the right commanders and troops on favourable terrain!!
I've had legendary wars in CK2, outnumbered sometimes about five to one, using attrition against the enemy, kiting them, before finding the perfect battle to finally whittle them down. If you want a fun challenge, try to play Harold Godwinson in 1066 without using mercenaries. Legendary game
The levy system too. It makes no sense how a huge empire can assemble all of its troops in such a short period in ck3. It was always a nice aspect of ck2, to avoid the enemy troops and correctly micromanage each troop's movements with organizer generals or ships to raise an army as quickly as possible to stand a chance against your invaders. It was especially good for tall gameplay because your developed demesne could raise a solid army much faster than your neighbouring empires, allowing you to pick off their levies before they could form their fearsome army.
@@ari3903 Also the difficulty that happened if your army was whittled down, and you had to make the call of either preserving the current army or dismissing the levvies and calling new ones. A lot of layers of risk reward
@@monarchofthesea9395 Yeah, in ck3 you can just instantly raise troops again, but in ck2, it presented a dilemma. You either had to make do with the damaged and demoralized army you worked so hard to raise or dismiss it all and take the risk of raising it all again when enemy troops are in your territory. ( Organizer is still the best commander trait in ck2 )
BRO YES the best part of CK2 is all the insane mods it gained over the years. You should play some, like as King Arthur in the dark age britain mod The Winter King. There's tons, it's insane.
I love this game, was the first PC game I ever got into it on the channel. Would love to see it again.
CK2 is so much fun CK3 just doesn't have anywhere near the same vibe
The only thing better about CK3 is the 3D characters.
What I like about CK2 is that you can make your allied troops either follow you, siege the enemy territory, or have them attack and chase down enemy armies.
It made conquering and defending, a breeze; even the crusades/jihads were easier to win and take part in because of it.
CK3 could introduce the supernatural stuff, but I would like Republics back. They were kinda fun to play and you will be extremely rich later on. Maybe an idea you could do.
I also laughed so hard at the part "Motherf** wha wha" where you couldn't build ships 🤣
Yeah, i just made both in the same time: trade empire with infinite trade posts over mediterranean and the witch cult leader that had a half-devil daughter
i recently tried playing tall for the first time and now i really want to try that as a republic
Wait ck3 still doesn't have Republics?
That's funny af. Waiting for 30 usd Republic dlc 😂
@@Tradpa they better bring back glitterhoof though or their will be chaos
I really hope they don't get the supernatural stuff, I think it just made CK2 far less interesting. But Republics yeah, I loved those.
My first paradox game that I really got invested into, glad to see you play it. Nice to see some CK2 instead of 3, maybe try eu3 next?
Cannibalism actually lets you steal congenital traits. The ambitious trait can start an event to become immortal. Lunatics also get various supernatural events. You also should have gone learning focus and gone down the "Is there something strange out there" event line. You also should have played as a woman so you could birth the Anti Christ and play as them
CK2 is a gem - CK3 is just a pale imitation with nicer graphics fast approaching 3 years since CK3s launch and we still dont even have decent government types or expanded councils and governing mechanics
I can do without republics, but man, I need societies.
Diseases also gave the game a slight extra challange. After you got establised in CK3 very little can happen to bother your reign if you know what you are doing. In CKII there is always a chance of half your dynasty getting wiped bc of a plague or spontanious combustion (my favourite death screen).
@@azpont7275 i doubt they are going to redo societies tbh they were a gimmick to farm for traits and stats for the most part
But I just want differing government types atm Tribes, Clans and Feudal states all play exactly the same there is no differentiation between Ireland, Visby, Sub Saharan Africa, Anatolia and India
CK2 is the paradox game which I have had the most fun playing. Both alone and with friends.
I honestly don't get how people can say that CK3 is better. CK2 outshines CK3 in every metric except graphics.
It's not like I didn't give it a honest chance. I played it for 200h or so and I didn't think it was even close.
Although, I still have high hopes that CK3 will get more content and maybe one day I'll see it as a worthy successor. For now though its kinda what VIC3 is to VIC2. A lackluster game with not enough content and boring mechanics hiding behind the mask of "better graphics".
I would say multiplayer but for as bad as CK2 is (those who have tried know the pain) at least it is playable unlike CK3’s current state.
While CK2 has more things to do, CK3 has just an ease of play that feels very smooth. CK2 feels like a beat up car to use
@@Donderu same, I don't understand people who say ck3 is unplayable. I find ck2s magic shit and worse historical accuracy really annoying and distracting
@@Donderufunny, I had the exact opposite experience. A CK2 campaign on my laptop runs pretty smooth even with total conversion mods while a CK3 run constantly has frame drops and random crashes. I'm assuming that Sseth calling CK2 the equivalent of an Excel Spreadsheet is why I can run it better
@@fiendish9474 In terms of graphics yes but I think they ment in terms of gameplay. CK3 is to this the day only paradox game where I did the tutorial and went straight to gameplay. In contrast I had to watch a bunch of tutorials for HOI, EU4 and good lord I still don't get most of Vic lol. CK3 just has a very easy way to it where I can call my brother and my mum to do a casual playthrough without bothering them with 100+ hours of knowledge. CK2 is somewhere in the middle where is not that hard but its still has unecessarely complex mechanics. And besides... The graphics are ugly lol it doesn't matter much for us gs players but for casual players its a huge turn off.
I would love CK3 more if it didn't force Gavelkind/partition on literally everyone under the sun, including those who didn't do it (Byzantines for example). Additionally, CK3 should be pulling ALOT from CK2 including its military (generic levies, a lack of tactics and flanks in battles, and rapid assembly of an army make CK3 wars terrible imo), supernatural elements ecclesiastical relations (tax reveues to church over liege in Catholic realms and investiture laws) and more.
CK2 is just a better game in my opinion
Byzantine doesn't have partition. That's what made them over powered at launch, because their land never split up
@@hircenedaelen Byz vassals do. That's the point.
@@akai4942 they should've said that then
@@akai4942 honestly byzantium should have its own government type. It wasn't really feudal
@@hircenedaelen yeah, in the Ck2 Byzantines are the only Imperial Type government, the fact that Ck3 didn't is strange for me
You can sway in ck2, its under the artifacts when viewing a character
I think Paradox said they wouldn’t be adding CK2 content into CK3 though DLC, which either means they will add this for free (like that’s ever going to happen) or we will never see it.
A shame too, CK2 had some really great features (and features that really should have been in CK3 at launch such as republics and nomads) like societies, disease, and trade.
I just hope that one day someone makes a CK2 parity mod for CK3, bringing over all the events and cool mechanics, it will never happen, but I would love to be wrong.
Yeah, I've not played any central Asians because there's no nomad mechanics. I don't necessarily like ck2s nomad stuff, but it was something
Some things about old games that I love is that all dlcs have been released and my computer runs them smooth with almost no loadingscreens
The thing that will forever make it impossible for me to go back into CK2 is the characters looking unique in CK3 and there being actual genetics as opposed to the default portraits that characters have in CK2. For a character driven game, CK3s genetics is a game changer for me.
My guy ck3 characters look like a californian cartoon.
Ck2 characters look like paintings.
@@notgoddhoward5972 i think you need to look up some better paintings
@@pingusbabyyy451 Or a better engine to run CK3 lol. Even in my toaster pc its 3d is way better than any ck2 portrait
ck2 does have genetics change some of the potraits actually.
You know the Genetic Mods for CK2? They are very good, and precise.
Still haven't bought CK3. CK2 is too much fun
Laith should've played in Scandenavia so that he can fight Cth'ulhu
Well, CK 3 is only realistic because of the lack of unrealistic DLC. If you disable most of the 'unrealistic' parts of the DLC, you get a game that is just as realistic as CK 3. Just with way more content.
Do more CK2
I definitely like Crusader Kings 2 more compared to Crusader Kings 3.
Part of it is the longer time developing for the game making it feel like a much more complete package. Part of it is how they approached life in the Middle Ages, people are depicted by portraits which feels more realistic even if it’s also just a limitation of the time, people are very spiritualistic and it can heavily influence the behavior in the world especially if you turn paranormal events on.
Idk, there’s just a charm that CK2 has that I feel CK3 just lacks though that is likely just because, again, way less content and there attempt at making the setting more realistic.
imo CK2 is still the better game compared to CK3. So much more flavour. More roleplay opportunities. Warfare feels more rewarding and more in depth.
I prefer the look of CK2. The map and the character portraits makes me feel more immersed as a medieval ruler. The cartoonish animations in CK3 took a lot of time to get used to.
The UI in ck2 should be classified as torture
how do you get CK2 to work because mine won't even download no matter what computer i use weather its my laptop or desktop?
Wait for better wether...
If you have problems with your legal copy of the game you might try copy from the... You know, alternative sources. Had problems like that few times and actually getting a bottle of rum and an eyepatch absolutely solved issues like that.
ck3 is so inferior it’s insane
Where? Nothing in this video showed that.
Just wait for five years more and CK3 will be a banger
@@frankiecedeno3724if you play both for more than a few minutes you see how, ck3 is prettier and it runs better but it’s shallow and boring
@@notliterallyme its impossible to play ck2 its too fucking ugly and the ui is disgusting
@@notliterallyme sure and that’s why no one plays CK3 and everyone is only playing CK2. Cope harder.
The title was an automatic watch for me Laith.
I wish they had the Charlemagne start in vanilla ck3
Do they really? Like I think it was not the best start even in ck2. Ck3 is sooo different gameplay wise that Charlemagne start would be oblivious 😂
@@aleksanderstawiarski6790 maybe the iron century would be better, I just liked playing the Saxons
I feel like CK3 takes pretty much all of the mechanics from CK2, but the CK2 versions are so much more expanded. Just look at buildings, or retinues, or even governments. So long as CK3s development continues to focus on adding more mechanics, rather than fleshing out the ones they have, it cannot be another CK2
We all know Constanyinople was full of spymasters in medieval times
I would like supernatural stuff for sure, devs said they won’t do it but never say never, I think CK3 has many years of dlc ahead of itself.
And of course there are mods. Another triumph of CK3 and newer Paradox games in general is ease of modding. People make wild stuff, have you played Sinews of War? And again, this will only get better.
Best thing about the supernatural stuff in CK2 is how rare most of it is (not counting the society for satan) so when it happens it’s fun but if that’s not you cup of tea you can turn it off
Considering you have a demon's 👻 eye view in the game 🎮, it would be fun if they gave you more demon themed powers.
Like making people insane, "unfortunate" accidents, and unhuman level headedness.
Plus, you would get to manage suspicion, which would be a fun thing to strategize for.
Finally, another ck2 player in 2024
I still play CK2. Even started up another new campaign after a few months off. I've about 3000 hours in CK2 ever since it's launch.
I still haven't hit 300 hours in CK3. It still feels like an empty shell that was prettied up and pandered to content creators in order to hype it.
Maybe in another five years I'll give it a try. But until then, I'm still playing CK2.
I actually haven’t played ck3 yet. Still grinding ck2 achievements
Ck3 is fun and all, but it cannot hold a candle to the glorious chaos that is ck2.
After playing a fair amount of both, CK2 is still the better game. The content is more developed, religions are more unique, and the modding community is a lot more matured and the overhauls/total conversions are far more developed. I don't disparage people for preferring CK3 but for me it's not much of a contest
That title is facts
I've played close to a thousand hours of ck2 since the release of ck3, but that's because I'm poor lol
"Don't like the whispering"
So annoying. I never actually bought 3, but played 2 to death, and that whispering is one of my main triggers.
Also, you can still sway, it's just not on right click
actually wild how vic3 had at most 2x player of ck2
I just want asynchronous gameplay. Having everything standardised to the same core components has been very rough for me wanting to play a variety of characters.
When CK3 first came out, CK2 was better. Now, it's more up to personal taste, though CK2 is still more fleshed out.
fucking hell yes. I’ve been saying it for years, CK2 is so much better than CK3.
CK2s UI (which is one of the main parts of the game) is objectively garbage.
@@karaltar7914better than ck3's shitty mobile look
@@pira707 how the hell does ck3 look like a mobile game.
The perfect ck would be a mix of ck2 and ck3.
Play with HIP it makes the game so much better, or CK2+
Laith: there is a sight we havent seen in years, me who only plays ck2 because its free
Ah, sometimes I wish CK3 had CK2s creative ways for executing people. Nice sound when that happens too.
_gains Sadistic trait_
CK3 is better than CK2 on launch, and for equilvant number of DLC's into being major better, I will still argue it's the better game. And I loved CK2, and miss some mechanics.
CK2 just has way more to do than CK3, plus, way better mods
The combat system is far worse and the gameplay loop is worse
Straight delustion if you actually think this is true
The only thing better about ck3 is the modding potential
@@andreascovano7742 Gameplay loop is in major part due to lack of DLC and mods adding hundreds of flavour events. This will come in time. As for combat being worse. CK2 never had the best combat, certainly better but certainly just as prone to exploits as CK3.
While war is a major aspect of both games it's never primary the focus in the same manner as eu4 or hoi4. Hence it's more simple and encourages people to build alliances in a feudal manner. Why I focus less on that and more the individual aspect, which CK3 does better with the whole Knight system.
I'm still playing CK2
3:43 It's also on CK2. Just in the character menu.
I still enjoy Ck2 far more than Ck3
I actually went on a few achievement runs recently, the Aladdin achievement goes crazy
i still play ck2, prefer it over pathetic ck3
Already was! CK3 Is alright and all but it's just not for me right now.
Meanwhile I've logged like 3k hours into CK2 over the past 10 years of playing it.

The hive mind has decided that CK2 is better than CK3
If you do end up doing more ck2, can you do a video about returning all the remaining Germanic migration cultures (franks, suebi, visigoths, Lombards, etc) to their original homeland, maybe a suebi campaign where you return to Germany and go pagan again?
Ck2 was what brought me to Paradox, and I prefer Ck2 because of the personal retinues.
Will always prefer CK2 due to the much cleaner and easier to read UI and province screen. CK3 has too much going on
I really wish they'd stuck to the portraits, the whole body 3D is a bit too distracting for my own liking.
Are you joking?
I miss CK2 animal cultures lol
Ck2 is a flawed masterpiece and ck3 is just ok. Ck3 doesn't have a enough depth to be a strategy game and it's not personal enough to be a good roleplaying game. I would say rome imperator does it better than ck3
Please play EU2 I beg you 🙏
There is huge lack of EU2 content on YT. Would be nice for veteran player to pick it up.
It was never over. We were always back.
CK2 Kings stay winning always 👑🎉🎉
One thing I can say is that as a viewer, CK2 is waaaaay worse. The UI is terrible and so tiny that it barely conveys any information compared to CK3
I wish I played this game before I played Ck3. The games ui always seemed like hoi4 so i felt overwhelmed with it and never played it.
I still played this shit to this day
someone should make a mod that adds these things to ck3
honestly ive always loved ck2 more but ck3 does have some systems I love about it like the culture divergence and religion heresies you can make basically I wish some of those systems could make their way to ck2 honestly I dont know why they didnt just stick with a ck2 format with ck3 .
A lot changes in game design, especially strategy, in a 8-10 yesr period like ck2 1.0 to ck3 1.0.
I mean hell in an 8 year time span we went from the original Rome total war and its contemporaries, to CK2

Even if Ck3 was better then Ck2 I'm going to stick with Ck2 for now since I already spend a lot of money on dlc.
I generally like CK3 more but it does lack a lot of the charm and feel of CK2. Both also just have mechanics I adore and find very interesting, ck3 with its religion making and cultures but CK2 had secret societies, (actually functional crusades) supernatural elements such as giving a eunuch back his balls via the use of magic and so on.
