  • SW Florida woke up to 81 degrees. Tropical Storm Debby moved up the Gulf of Mexico approximately 150-200 miles off shore. This storm brought needed rain to the area but also caused some flooding in areas surrounding Boca. Winds were hanging around 10-15 mph with gusts around 25-30. Rain totals for the area were around 5.5 inches but some could report more or less and we are still not out of the woods yet as the outer rain bands of the storm are still passing through the area. As with this storm came the potential for tornadoes which we did not have to endure. Even though this area did not get a direct impact from the storm it still brings with it heavy rain, winds, lightning and uncertainty.
I went to a few different areas on the island. I was unable to get to the tip (Gasparilla Island State Park) as the road was flooded and the park was closed. Of course the beach was un-walkable today.

Most definitely. Heavy rain, wind and lightening currently happening in the area. Should be like that all day long.
