  • MAKING A FEATHER PENDANT
Jewellery designer Karl Karter sets out to create a piece of jewellery inspired by the work of Goro Takahashi and the Goros brand.
Goros has inspired Karl from a young age and since lockdown prevented a trip across to Japan to visit the Goros store (the only place to get your hands on this sort-after jewellery) Karl decided to create his own piece inspired by the world famous designer known as Yellow Eagle.

Why would you do this if you have any respect at all for the brand and it's heritage? You must know that Goros and his family never ever approved of this kind of thing and consider "inspired pieces" to be cheap knockoffs that exploit naive consumers?

I hope they don’t see it that way as I love Native American culture and have the upmost respect.
It inspires me very much .

Goros wasn't the first to make feathered Indian jewelry. Why are you so angry?

Not like Goros isn’t an expensive knock off of Native American motifs……..pot, meet kettle. Tribal affiliation/adoption notwithstanding, he’s still making dosh out of cultural iconography, so there’s not a lot of room to call out anyone else. Besides which, ANYone can make a feather pendant…..the feather isn’t copywritten, any more than a leaf or a flower is.

Enough with this "culture appropriation" silliness.

That kind of sounds ridiculous. He is making a feather. I am familiar with the artist and I am sure he doesn't have a copyright on a feather. This was a beautiful work and a lovely tutorial. Guessit was lost on you? What a shame.
