- In 1989, RuPaul used a portable camcorder to make an intimate documentary of his family life in San Diego, California, that included this intimate moment with his mother Ernestine Charles. RuPaul's "Ghetto Homecoming" first broadcast was as a special for The American Music Show in Atlanta.

Awh rupaul mom... he loved his mom very much still does... when she passed he was so devastated.... his mom got to see the beginning of rupaul stardom and got to see his first video Supermodel and then she passed rupaul was away on a trip when she passed a got the news over phone after a big show....but rupaul mom always knew he was going to be famous ever since he was born he wishes she can see him now but he knows she looking down from heaven and is very proud of him.... ive been a huge rupaul fan for a long time and still am....
