This movie is an underrated gem of the 2000s. Acting, direction, cinematography, music, bg score all were top class. Just look at the way this song is picturised, a young couple with newfound love and a girl experiencing the bliss of falling in love all by herself. Pukar had the bad luck of getting released along with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai which impacted its BO performance.

What can I say about this composition - At the very root, a severe undertone of a consistently bass line gives it a melancholic feel right from the beginning!
I remember first time I heard Swarnlatha ji humming at beginning while testing a music system at a Pioneer store in Delaware, USA - whole store went quiet till she stopped humming. It was as if a trance took over everyone. Everyone came to check out the melody. Absolutely epic stuff - her voice is an allegorism for an eternal soul, Noorie, in quest of finding her lover who's still mortally infatuated - exactly the state of Madhuri in the movie.
The evergoing snare in the background with different instrument rioting with each other, especially from 2:18 onwards - the Indian tunes that blow the door away with their instrumental brilliance, and while the undercurrent of melancholy still continues despite a temporary pitch shift towards the higher notes from the usual haunting, low baritonic ones.
This song is a masterpiece - but there is another one from this movie - Kismat see tum hamko mile ho. The greatest song Anuradha Paudwal ji ever sang - she hits G5 - god damnnnn! And so does Sonu. I passed out upon sudden realization when it happened! It is not worth expressing in words trust me - I will ruin it!
This movie's album is an entire syllabus for music student in terms of vocal glide, deep, dark and sombre undertones to a song and variations in instrument.
