Ashley, you're my "Angel"! I saw this video 2 hours after it dropped and I quickly made my way to the Monroe Walmart. I grabbed the Crimson Princess Hoya you had in your hand ...it was the only one (I didn't have one) and snapped up the one remaining Monstera Cobra. I got the "plain Jane" one that had no big white splotches ..the rightmost one in your video. But beggars can't be choosers. On my way out, I was stopped by a young woman, who had also watched your video, eyeing my plants, who had driven from South Charlotte hoping to get the variegated MC but I had to tell her they were all gone. Did you go today Friday, or yesterday? A lady who worked there told me the shipment came in yesterday (Thurs). If you had gone last week to this store, the shelves were practically empty! You are my "Lucky Charm" for those rare, big box surprises. My Global Green and Baltic Blue Pothos that you found at Target last February are doing great! Thank you so much for these great finds! 😍👍

I have a massive night blooming cereus and I love it. It propagates VERY easily--in water or straight into soil. You can propagate the skinny shoots it sends out, or the flat leaves. It likes more water than a typical cactus or succulent since it's an epiphyte. I let it dry completely before watering, though. In the summer I put mine out (I have three now, because they prop so easily) on my back porch in direct sun and they go BANANAS. You have to acclimate them to the sun after the winter though. Mine have never bloomed but I'm hoping this is the year! Also, they tend to grow in just bizarre shapes and directions. I prune mine a lot. Also, mine often get spiders, too! (Not spider mites thank goodness.) I don't know why, but they seem to love the nooks and crannies to live in. I hope you enjoy yours!

So...funny story. I watched this an hour after you posted it yesterday. And I was so excited about the Standleyana that I stopped the video, got in my car, and drove to Wal-Mart. Only to discover that the Wal-Mart closest to my house (I live in Chapel Hill, the Wal-Mart is in Durham) has...oh...maybe ten plants? Maybe fifteen? It was all golden pothos and ponytail palms and while they all looked very healthy, it was a very sad display. It's crazy how much difference there is from location to location for all of these big box retailers. Alas, I love the hunt, and I will not be thwarted. Now to embark on my tour of central NC Wal-Marts!

OMG Ashley! Best plant shopping and haul! I would have grabbed up that Epiphyllum in a heartbeat. I hear people call them commonly as Queen of the Night (due to when it blooms) and orchid cacti. One CZcams creater said they do really well with high humidity and blooms once a year. Hope it blooms more than that because she is a gorgous plant. I was screaming when you got so excited when you saw the Monstera Standleyana! I would have grabbed both of the two you had together on the floor and put them in different rooms because they are so beautiful and hard to find. Better odds that at least one would survive as they are new to me. You are so lucky Charlotte has so many big box and plant shops with tons of plants. In the northeast the big box shops have almost nothing. Just last week I asked at Lowes when were they getting more houseplants and the lady said not until March! Home Depot follows the same. As if we don't shop for plants in cooler weather. Up here Lowes and Home Depot only dedicate a small corner to plants unless they get in a special shipment. Loved your adventure and plant haul! I learn so much from you.

I started off today looking at Home Depot's garden section. I found a few Calathea Musaicas. I had a few of them side by side trying to decide which one to buy. Then I decided to wait and see if I could find a smaller one. I headed to Lowe's and found a few for $4 less than Home Depot, so I picked out the one that had a couple of newer leaves. No smaller than the ones at Home Depot, though. But my surprise moment happened first, just outside the garden center. There were Plumerias there! I usually have to go to my local plant nursery to see Plumerias OR to very special exclusively Plumerias nursery, where the price is out of my budget. These were mini Plumerias, Rhapsody, described a miniature with light pink flowers (according to the picture on the tag) and a couple of other ones with deeper pink flowers, Dulcemia, described as compact with deeper pink flowers (again, shown on the tag). I couldn't believe it. I've been afraid to buy a Plumeria because I'm afraid my balcony (south facing) doesn't get enough sunlight. These need six hours of direct sunlight. Maybe my Plumeria can live in a spot in my daughter's and son-in-law's sunny yard, and I can just visit and tend to it the days I babysit the grandchildren. I might have to go back to that Lowe's (or see if my neighborhood Lowe's has them too!). I'd better not wait too long. Those things might be more desirable than I realize. They were $29.98 each.

The orchid cactus you should take it out of the pot and place it on some news paper with out the pot and let it dry out. All the leaves that you trimmed once they are green and healthy just let them callus for a day or 2 and put them back in the cactus soil

I would take pictures of the many flowers, I knew that it would not be as nice in the morning. Here in Europe I did buy one that turned out to be a single and the perfume is not strong. I put the plant outside in a shady place in summer and am giving home made fish tea, seam to love the tea.

The night blooming cactus can slowly be moved into full sun without burning. They grow like crazy here in Florida! The “leaves” turn a really pretty red when they are sun stressed. There’s also different color flowers. The most common is white, but the pink is amazing too! From my experience they open around midnight. The blooms are really pretty pink before the flower opens. The flower texture looks similar to a Christmas cactus except it is huge! The leaves also root really easily. You can literally break them off and stick them back into the soil. I could’ve sent you a ton of cuttings 😆😆

The scent of the bloom is intoxicating and it only blooms for one night so don’t miss it! My mom has a huge one that only blooms one night a year and I always have to go there to get a whiff of the amazing scent.

Its because since houseplants & tropicals became s popular during the pandemic, all the big companies quickly put them into tissue culture by the 100's of thousands. Now it will reset the price market back to the early 2000's prices when one could find variegated monstera delisiosa in the big box stores for like $13 for a 6 inch pot. I also used to buy 12 inch cuttings of pink princess on ebay for $20..these became stupid inflated during the pandemic and new collectors were basically preyed upon by online sellers.
Its always good to go pick through big box new plant shipments asap because sometimes something uber rare will be mixed in. I have found some real rare gems in there mismarked as something else. You do have to know what you are looking for though. Alll those plants you are showing are very common here in FL.

love you you get soooo excited when you see the plants!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 hilarious! I have some plants here and finally got a zz plant a few years ago. I saw a huge one in a hotel in France 20 years ago and couldn’t find it here… then when I did started seeing them they were sooo expensive. Finalize hot one I think at Home Depot… for about $10. And a nice size… at first I had it outside, but I don’t think it likes outside… so I have it in my office… doesn’t like to be moved.. I’m now turning into a plant lady!!! I found some nice plants in the clearance area… those just need a little TLC. How do you know the names of the plants? Wow!!! Between my pets… 6 cats & 1 dog.. all rescues… now my plants… I should be a happy camper🥰
    I’m sooo excited.Thanks for sharing!!!

You are so blessed to have great big box store plant finds in your area. I love in Michigan and where I am the selection is awful. The closest Walmart to us have a terrible selection and most of the time the plants are half dead. Our Lowes is not to bad it’s a crapshoot in finding good healthy plants. I think I need to maybe travel out of my area a bit to find better selection. I love your excitement of these beautiful plants. It’s adorable!! And yes I surely get it!!!!

Our big box shops here in Charleston are not great right now. I visited Home Depot on Sunday, they were FULL outside, and went yesterday and it looks like they tossed ALL of the plants in that area, it was cleaned out and bare!😳
I did see on a random youtube video, there’s a line of spineless cacti floating around, and I found mine at CVS yesterday of all places.😂 Walmart was calling this a “cuddly cactus” for reference, and CVS has them labeled as PURE CACTUS” kid/pet friendly with no thorns. I know you’re a fellow cacti lover and wanted to mention it. I’d go sooner than later, the cvs I found them at isn’t watering and every plant there was THIRSTY!

I’m finding a few of those variegated marantas at Lowe’s. And not just a little variegation, but big white streaks, maybe half of the plant will be variegated. I think it’s on purpose, maybe growers are putting a sprig of variegation in the plant to entice us to buy 🤷‍♀️
