    We, the Allred’s, haven’t done many upgrades to our Country Coach yet! We love it as it is and being retired we don’t have a lot of money. We really love our Coach as it is but we have a couple of cosmetic things on the outside to take care of in the Spring. I love you videos.

    That transfer switch is an important repair. How frustrating it would be to be sitting in the dark with phones, computers, and other things discharged and not being able to get power from your generator into your RV! I am glad that one got fixed. I trust you have had no further problems with your radiator fan and air filter since the problem you had earlier. It hurt me to see all the dirt and dust you knocked out of that air filter when you were in Arizona. Wishing you the best!!!

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Carl. Fortunately with our substantial batteries and solar, we never had to go dark. Just had to stay where there was sun, or find somewhere to plug in. As for our fan and filters. We haven't been off asphalt much this year, so that has not been trouble at all. Thanks again as always. Wishing you the best too.

    Am thinking about those Magna Shades. I use the Reflectix. It works but a pain to put up and take down from inside the front windshield. Bret is a trip. Enjoyed meeting him at the Cali show!

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 4 lety

      Hi Joe. Glad you got to meet Brett at the CA RV Show. It was great seeing you again. We love our Magneshades. It goes up and comes down super easy, and the visibility out is excellent. I am sure the reflectix would be a pain to set up sometimes, but the thing I would dislike the most about those would be that it blocks out the view out the window. AND, anything mounted inside the window still allows heat inside the coach. Reduced sure. But some of the heat is just contained in that space between the inside shade and the glass. Mounting the shades on the outside prevents it from coming in but still allows great visibility out. Just remember that the privacy is only during daylight hours.

    Your coach looks great. If you had to do it over again, would you have purchaser a slightly newer coach to save on some of the structural repairs you made?

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 4 lety

      Thank you. Tough question. We were actually mostly shopping coaches a bit newer, but being able to buy this coach with most everything we wanted for a fraction of the price of the others we were looking at was too appealing. We could have bought a similar year, but better cared for coach that didn't need so much work without spending a lot more. All that said, the secondary answer is that what was right for us, would not be right for others. I imagine that most people would not want to spend as much time and energy fixing up a coach as we have.

    Curious on the make and model of the transfer switch you removed. The IOTA 50-R is apparently a known issue and we had one in our coach. Last winter it went up in smoke and thankfully I figured out there was an issue when we woke up and one leg of the electrical was down. As I was trying to figure out the issue sparks started flying and it burned part of the area around the switch but since I was outside I was able to kill the 50 amp power at the pedestal. Can't imagine what would have happened if the failure occurred an hour or two earlier as we were in bed. I would strongly recommend anyone that has an IOTA 50-R in their coach to replace it as it is an accident waiting to happen.

      Hello Bob. Thank you for sharing your experience. Glad nobody was hurt. Our original unit was a PS245S. Not sure of the brand, but might have been Todd. @Rvlove  Před 4 lety

      We talk a bit about our secondary work space in episode 6 of our Ultimate RV Makeover series. Here is a link to episode 6. rvlove.com/2019/04/01/episode-6-nearly-there-ultimate-rv-makeover/ Using leftover pieces of flooring and buying a simple lap desk made an easy conversion. One factor is that whether or not your steering wheel goes vertical enough. If not, you might need to make an additional support to better hold the desk top.

  • @foretravelman67
    @foretravelman67 Před 4 lety +1

    Some nice mods and fixes! Mark, I would have installed a EMS while your buddy was up in there. This way, the EMS will not only protect your shore power, but any issues with the generator as well. This saved our bacon the other day when our generator decided to put 157 volts on leg 1 and 107 on leg 2. We ended up replacing the voltage regulator on the 10k Kubota we have on our coach. I also can't believe that Country Coach installed that Transfer switch up there. We are lucky, ours is at the foot of the bed and easy access. We also have 2 transfer switches, so more dollars when something goes wrong! lol

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for the input. Yes, in hindsight, it would have been nice to install an EMS while we were at it. Just a bit too focused on the primary challenge. Glad you got your voltage regulation fixed as well. Thanks again for sharing the information for others too.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 4 lety +1

      Unfortunately, most of the footage from that day was lost, so we probably won't end up being able to do a dedicated video on it. BUT... we actually didn't take out the front windshield. We were able to bring it in through the driver's SIDE window. We also considered bringing it in through one of the Fire escape windows. Glad we didn't need to remove the front windshield as that usually adds substantial expense to the fridge swap project. Hopefully one of your side windows will work for you too. Easy to do yourself.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Donald. Yes, moisture can be a problem in RVs. We have been super happy with ours. It is the only one we have used in our RV, but have let others try it and they have all been equally impressed. Some who already had a dehumidifier, after trying ours, bought one like ours. We find it is very quiet, except when the alarm goes off that it has filled it's container. We have seen it fill it's large container in only 4 hours. So, if you want it to run longer, like overnight, run the included hose out a small opening in the gasket of a slide out, or into the drain in your shower. Here is a link to the model we have. It is the Inofia 30qt amzn.to/2NcSzWc

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 4 lety +1

      We only use the dehumidifier when it is too humid. When we are in a dry climate, we simply don't turn it on. It even has settings that you can choose the humidity level that you want it set at. So no, it has never made it too dry.

    Your coach is really looking great! When I first started doing my research for going full time (in 4 years) I kept coming across people saying that RV parks are putting age limits on RV's they would allow in their parks. Have you ran across this or is this just some more of the internet misinformation?

      We have come across a few parks in our 5 + years of travel that enforce it. Quite a few have it in their bylaws as a backup in case somebody shows up with a really rough looking RV. But very few enforce it. Even relatively high end RV parks are often fine, especially if you have a high quality and well cared for RV.
