Bungle is not necessarily gay. He gives that impression because he is emotionally intelligent. He would make an excellent modern family man, patient, good listener, understands where to define boundaries. Zippy is bright and energetic and shows great potential to be a successful entrepreneur in the City. George is definitely not gay, he is very macho and is so confident in his sexuality that he is able to dress in pink. The eye lashes show just how hirsute he is. My only concern is what he is doing with his arms. Geoffrey is a remarkable method actor. He really looks as if he is pretending to read the paper, a perfect caricature of a commuter on the train from Bromley.
Is it cruel or hilarious that I can see that? No, it's hilarious. I mean Fred Harris once gave the "Play School" toys what for after Little Ted fell over once too many times. So I can definitely see Geoffrey finally losing the rag with Zippy and Bungle.
Just watched an episode of this ...and 40 years rolled back. Zippy is still as irritating now as he was then....and he reminded me of some people in my past I wanted to throttle(!)
Let's analyse this: We have 4 guy's living in the same house with rainbows all over (Gay Pride Flag), One guy is pink and very camp another has a zip over his mouth (Kinky) and the other character is a Bear (Slang for hairy gay guy) and Zippy loves eating sausages especially when he has them to himself,There are three on the plate to go around the whole house except Jeff. You work it out. Not very suggestive is it?
I am 46 years old .....and , when they MADE the First Bungle ...he was Out of a 18 horror film, well scary .... so the made bungle different......Nice and soft and fluffy .
I used to watch this as a kid, and it was great to re-watch it again with my 3 year old niece here (who loves it). But, it's such a shame that the episode culminates with all the characters singing and joking about a poor animal that has been bred and slaughtered for no reason other than a meal. I feel so sorry for the poor pig that is used as an excuse for a fun element when the reality is that a poor animal has been treated so bad and murdered. Children should absolutely not be taught that it is fun to eat murdered animals. Absolutely disgraceful- and disgusting. Humans that eat meat are cannibals- they eat body parts of animals that are related to them and have the exact same body parts. I can't think of anything else that is more disgusting in an extreme horror way.

Lamp Shade Its not as if they are singing about a murdered poor animal, if you want people to stop eating meat you'll have to go around it another way, perhaps expose the appalling way pigs are kept in this country because people are unaware or seem to care less for pigs compared to cows, chickens etc. Despite pigs being amongst the most intelligent farm animals.
my first exposure to Rainbow (the show) is someone mentioning that the evil laughing at the end of Black Sabbath's "Am I Going Insane" reminded them of Zippy from Rainbow and wanted to see what this show was like, I wouldn't have discovered this show if it wasn't for me listening to Black Sabbath's "Am I Going Insane" on CZcams

I loved rainbow. I've recently shown it to my 8 year old daughter but she sadly doesn't share my enthusiasm for the show😂
