    Dr. Otabil, as a man of learning I know that, like the Bereans, you will look further into what I am about to tell you. Did you know that, concerning giving, or tithing, or prosperity, Malachi 3:8-12 is not the full counsel of God? It is an excerpt, quoted to the church for centuries (believe it or not), which is a misrepresentation of God's counsel. We've accepted it because that's what we have always been taught. Here are a few points to consider.
    -- Who did God appoint to receive tithes? God said, "And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth [the tithe] in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation (Numbers 18:21). In this scripture, God established who receives the tithe (the Levites), and why they received it (they received no inheritance, and they served in the temple). This assignment is exclusive to Levites. A pastor cannot assume this assignment, he has never been scripturally assigned by God to collect tithes, he is not a Levite. In that same sense, only a Levite, never a pastor, could ever conduct an animal sacrifice or even work in a Jewish temple. The church has not replaced the Jewish temple, and pastors have not replaced Levites.
    -- People are blessed when they give, not because of Malachi 3, which is based on the Law of Moses, an Old Testament law that has been replaced by Grace under Christ, at the cross. They are blessed because Jesus said, "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you" (Luke 6:38). It is this principle of giving and receiving at work, when we give and are blessed. Not the expired law of tithing, which was required of the Jews (never Gentiles), and could only be received by Levite priests because they received no inheritance and were set apart to work fully in the Jewish temple.
    -- There is much more to this, such as Abraham's tithe to Melchizedek, Jacob's promise to tithe, the history of when and why the New Testament church tithes (there is actually a date!), and the biblical support for all these truths. To be clear, every pastor has a right to collect offerings in support of the ministry; I fully agree with supporting the church financially. But our giving must be godly. It is wrong to require people to tithe, contrary to the scriptures, then say that we live according to the scriptures. If you're interested in learning more, I have researched and written about this in "Tither, You Are Free!" Blessings to you and your ministry!

      You don’t need a research on this. You need a teaching from Holy Spirit.

      @waynemcghie6500 Před 2 lety +3

      @@euniceurio7492 John 5:39 tells us to "Search the scriptures." 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us to "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." As a man of learning you know that this Studying and Searching includes prayer, indeed, as well as research. Holy Spirit guides us in all truths, including when we take the time to actually dig into God's word. It is the shallow, surface understanding of the scriptures that has kept so many people bound under personality evangelism, instead of truth. We need never fear when people take the time to dig deep into the Word of God, unnless we have something to hide. But it doesn't take much digging to see that tithing was never commanded of any Gentile, only the Jews. And only Levites were ordained to receive tithes, under the Law, no one else. Those truths are literally on the surface (no deep research required), and reveals this truth, word for word. For example, in Numbers 18:21, “I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the tent of meeting." That's straight-forward, surface level stuff. Whether we receive this clear word of God, or not, will reveal if we are led by Holy Spirit, or our pocket book, or somethng else.

      @@anitaudoh8144 Anita, I respect and admire your willingness to give. It is a virtue. Your attitude is in line with every Christian's requirement to be generous. My only concern with tithing is when someone like you is told that you are "cursed with a curse" because you one day cannot give 10 percent, or that you somehow did not fulfill your Christian responsibility to give because you could not, or did not, give 10 percent. That is not scriptural. Go back over my notes. You'll see that I'm not saying we shouldn't give. Give to the fullest that you can give! That is a good thing. I'm saying you have liberty in how much you give (or don't give). It's between you and God. Luke 6:38 is what governs our giving in the New Testament. God bless you Anita, and thanks for being a generous person!

    Where is tithing taught in the New Testament?
    There is no scripture whatsoever in the New Testament asking Christians to tithe. When Jesus once referred to the practice, he was talking about Pharisees who were still under the Law of Moses and not about New Testament believers.

    New Testament mentions nothing on Christians having to pay tithes. Jesus and His disciples never paid tithes neither did they instruct anyone to do so.

    Pastor, you guys always talk about offerings and tithe but my questions are;
    1. Who is/are the recipient of offerings?
    2. Who is/are the beneficiaries of tithes? You always quote malachi 3;8 to support man cheating God in tithes and offerings. You however never talk about how such items should be disbursed. I know God doesn't need our monies so who takes the tithes? Kindly let's read deuteronomy 14:22 downwards. I understand from the bible that tithes are for self usages with family members ( church members) and not for you pastors. Why do you people therefore keep the tithes?

    DO THE APOSTLES TOLD THE CHURCHES TO TITHE BECAUSE ABRAHAM DID IT, BY THE INSPIRATION OF HOLY-SPIRIT ?
    ("if this be the case then believer are to do whatever that were before the Law?" cuz, Abraham did polygamy, aproved of Sarah his wife slave Hagar- (Gen 16). that the Church are to do because Abraham did ? what a "false-authority!" man makeup doctrine from "Otabilnisim").
    {He•re•tics} -"meaning -Someone who believe-contrary to the fundamental tenets of the Apostles doctrine (Acts 2:42, Gal chapter 1. 1-Tim 1:3. Tit 1:11,14.) they claim to belong-to".
    NOW:
    If Abraham's seed could not tithe money to the House of God, (Leviticus 27:30-33; Deuteronomy 12:8) then we cannot tithe money to the House of God either.
    If Abraham's seed could not tithe to the House of God, (Numbers 18:21-23; Nehemiah 10:37-38) then we cannot tithe to the House of God either.
    If Abraham's seed could not begin tithing until they crossed the river Jordan and entered the land of Canaan to dwell there as citizens of that land, (Deuteronomy 12:10-11) then we cannot tithe outside of the borders of Canaan either.
    If Abraham's seed had to give God's tithe to a bloodline descendant of the biblical patriarch Levi, (Numbers 18:21-23; Nehemiah 10:37-38) then we cannot give God's tithe to anyone who is not a bloodline descendant of the biblical patriarch Levi either.
    If Abraham's seed could not tithe unless an Aaronic Priest was present, (Numbers 18:24-28; Nehemiah 10:37-38)then we cannot tithe either.
    Abraham tithed ONCE.
    There is no record that God commanded him to, or that God instituted tithing before the Law.
    Furthermore, Abraham tithed on spoils of war which was actually stolen merchandise he was returning to its owners.
    So, if you want to tithe like Abraham, you would have to find stolen items and give 10% of them to the local government before returning them to the owner.
    No one Apostles write by the inspiration of the Holy-Spirit that the Churches of Christ should tithes but give willingly they said not tithes.
    {2Cor 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver}.
    Your are just putting curse on yourselves because of ignorance.
    Beside this are just "Otabilnism" teaching nor of the Apostles doctrine given to the Churches ( 1Tim 1:3, Tit 1:11, 14, Gal 1:7,8) these Scriptures speaking specify to believers who are truly saved called "Christians"
    1Pet 2:9 But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:}
    and the next verse says: {1Pet 2:10 Which in time past [were] not a people, but [are] now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy}.
    Who do the Apostles said we should give tithes? and who do they says we should give it to?
    Now, really how do the Apostles say we are to give? Offering: { 1Cor 16:1,2 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first [day] of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as [God] hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come}.
    This is a commandment that they says we are to help in offering not tithes!
    Gal 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all [men], especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
    {Php 1:17 ...... knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel}.
    Be like the Berean {Acts 17:11}Christians and divide the Word of truth, don't just anything pastor tells you than you just do without comparing it with the Apostles teached doctrine.
    You better test all things {1Thes 5:21}.
    By-The Body Of Christ Jesus.
