I was introduced to guitar instrumental at grade 3 (i stole a casette tape from an uncle, it was G3, Joe Sat, Vai and Johnson if i'm not mistaken), and ever since then, my musical taste and roots have been the same. My peers, friends and contemporaries do not share the same interest and find the kind of music as distasteful. I have since developed a complex that my 'playlist' should never be paraded in public xD. Well, thanks to all you bros here, i am blissful in the knowledge that i am not alone.

Same, about two weeks ago I kicked up Spotify for the first time in years and just searched "Progressive rock". What I was missing, eh! Look at the top 100 of Spotify and you'll see why. People don't appreciate instrumental music with frequent key changes, length over 3 minutes etc.
