Honestly I love the new songs because they fit Sozos voice so well, plus the Rhapsody vibes they give, but I still prefer Winkler's voice for the older albums, it just feels like they were created specifically for him.
Still, I love the new direction they're going for and I got my pre-order ready👌👌
It's quite the opposite actually. Thomas fit the character well because he had charisma and stage presence, which this guy has none. What's funny though is that you can't contradict that.
@@fakeappellation7343 It sounds mean, but I agree 😂. Sozos needs to add more spice to the performance, I'm not saying to be a monkey, but to move around the stage, hype up the audience, etc. He needs to learn from the greats like Bruce Dickinson or Freddy Mercury
I really like Thomas' rougher singing style which I prefer. Sozos has a softer tone. But still does the job well.

I can't get past the feeling that Sozos is singing about someone else. Thomas brought a lot of visceral rage to these songs that made them feel very personal.
Agreed. A lot less depth. Yes he is hitting notes cleany, but that's not what I signed up for.
Honestly I'm okay with Sozos. His voice is way much clearer than thomas, makes me understand the lyrics in the songs sung. Still you can't replace the deep voice that thomas brought especially for Apocalypse 1922 album.
This was something I picked up on right away too. Even knowing the lyrics to the songs, Winkler's way of singing made it hard to actually listen to from time to time. There were times he honestly didn't even sound like he was singing the actual words to the songs. Was he a lot more fun to watch on the stage though? Absolutely. But Sozos is much, MUCH better to listen to when actually listening to the songs.

Sozos is just an amazing singer. And the people judging his stage performance should remember they had a nightmare journey to get to Wacken.

That is the whole concert! As they explained in the beginning, they had troubles with getting to the festival. So they unfortunately only could play these three songs.
@@CayleeMusicConcerts They also played The Unicorn Invasion of Dundee at the very end. There is a link in the vide's description to the whole show, but that is only about 5 minutes longer than this one.
Zargothrax really has some problems with them playing at wacken.
2016: Angus is sick
2019: show shortened due to thunderstorm incoming (which did not happen in the end 😂)
2022: traffic problems and short show again

I love the new guy's voice. Great Power Metal voice and remarkable range. I don't know if it works for the older songs, though. Maybe the songs were written with specific vocals in mind?

Somehow I missed the live stream last year. Thanks so much for uploading this!! Enjoyed it a lot. The sound is perfect and the band make these 15 minutes count, even though they just had a very miserable journey.💯

Sozos fits in the band very well, but Thomas had something unique in his appearance and voice, Sozos does not have... Still a great band!

Short, but glorious! Sozos is doing brilliant work despite what a few negative nancy's have to say. Also, out of all the concerts I've watched- I don't think I've heard or seen Ben Turk fumble even once- man's a legend on those skins in my book. Seriously great and underrated drummer! \m/
I do like Sozos' vocals, but I just prefer Thomas' "grit". They're both great in my mind. I honestly hope that someday they can reconcile (doubtful, I know) and share the stage, like how we have with Helloween nowadays with the Pumpkins United bit.

Escuchando a Sozos cantar estas tres canciones lo a hecho bien y me gusta como suena pero debo decir que habra algunas canciones en las cuales si se notara que son para el estilo de Thomas lo cual seria lo normal, ahora a lo que escuche de los dos nuevos temas tengo expectativas de que el nuevo album sera bastante bueno
si te soy sincero, se nota mucha la diferencia con las canciones viejas, de las tres del video, la que mejor me parecio fue universe on fire
No suena mal, pero sea por costumbre o por que estaban hechas para Thomas, sinceramente prefiero la voz mas desgarrada de Thomas, este es mas IAAAAAA, Thomas no era tan suave como el actual y se nota. De momento me quedo con Thomas. Quizas me pase como con Arch Enemy, que me encantaba Angela y ahora con los nuevos discos disfruto casi o mas con Alissa.

Mike Barber (Keyboard), Paul Templing (Guitar), James Cartwright (Bass) and Ben Turk (Drums) are all British, Sozos Michael, the singer, is from Cyprus

All in all, I think Sozos does a fantastic job, and I think the latest album is my favorite, but at least during these live performances, there's definitely something missing when you compare the two.

The new songs that have been released since Sozos joined all seem really solid, but I don't think he manages so well with these older ones. He has a very good voice and he can hit the high notes more cleanly than Thomas could, but the tradeoff to that is he doesn't have as much power, and he definitely lacks stage presence if this show is anything to go by. But it's still Gloryhammer and it's still awesome.
He also misses several notes (goes out of tune) maybe he was sick.
He can hit the high notes, sure. It's the low ones he has trouble with -- his belt is comparatively lacking.
It seems he trained to give his voice some force, you can hear that in parts of the last song. It´s still pretty soft xD, but maybe he´s on his way to surprise in the long run. Thomas´ stage presence is not fair to compare imo, I never saw smth similar...

exactly, wendnesday with Brothers of Metal, Epica, Gloryhammer, Avantasia.. I was on the first raw and was amazing. For me it was better than the rest of the festival 😂

Agreed. Do I miss Winkler's quirkiness on stage? Sure. Do I miss not being able to hear/understand half the lyrics of the songs he's singing? No.
Sozos is such a talented singer! I think the change was for the better, really

You miss Thomas's voice. Angus is a character and it has been impersonated by Thomas and Sozos (and even another guy for the first demos). It's totaly acceptable that you miss Thomas voice, but he is not the only Angus's voice (the band members themselves asked not to make that confusion)

That said, Sozos Michael isn't a good Angus McFife or Angus XIII, but he does make for an excellent Angus II.
I think we can only hope that Christopher Bowes and Thomas Winkler can bury the Hatchet between one another, so as to have Gloryhammer and Angus Mcsix tour together. Could see some songs being a duet of Double Angus

Sozos is a great singer and I think he might have been the best replacement Gloryhammer could have found for Thomas but still: he is not Angus McFife. I would have preferred if they would have left out that specific song.
He is definitely the Angus McFife, since Angus McFife is a fictional character created by Chris Bowes and this character (in all possible iterations) is always portrayed by current Gloryhammer singer - Anthony Trimming in the first years, then by Thomas Winkler and now by Sozos Michael

Knowing what kinda mastermind and musical genius Chris Bowes is, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole controversial chat and Thomas leaving Gloryhammer to form Angus McSix is just one big plot that ends up with Angus McSix story joining with the Gloryhammer story and original Angus re-joining Gloryhammer.
I mean, why would Thomas be allowed to do the Angus McSix thing since it practically rips off Gloryhammer.
Or does Thomas own part of the trademark?
I can promise you that this is not the case, so there's no point in dreaming about that scenario. What happened was that Tom secretly trademarked the Gloryhammer name at the end of 2019, without the knowledge of any other band member. The day after he was fired, he tried to use said trademark to extort the band for 100k euros in exchange for the name. This had no legal grounds and he didn't succeed. While this was going on, Chris trademarked the name Angus McFife. He had to make sure Tom didn't steal it too. Tom trademarked Angus McSix, and I don't think anyone in GH cares about that.
Is it possible that they "dumped" him because of the sexual harassment chat thingy to avoid making him problems in his profession as a lawyer?

Conclusion is: it's sad. That all. Gloryhammer will have the better songs/music, but this dude singing. Angus McSIX has Thomas as the voice, but a different style of music.
Neither will be as great as Gloryhammer once was.

Yeah, that's your opinion man. I prefer a vocalist with a singing technique that lets him sing the entire set, compared to one whose voice is shot halfway in.

I was waiting for a pro-live version with Sozos. Weak singer with no passion in his actions or voice. Thomas was a far better frontman for Gloryhammer. And he should stop with the hey hey in every song, it is annoying
Oh yeah, the guy who usually blew out his voice after the first song of a gig, sounded terrible live in general and just resorted to yelling the songs instead of actually singing, man was he good! That's why he's lip syncing now, he just that good!

Sozos's range is much better and his voice is clearer. Thomas was ok but his live shows weren't that brilliant IMHO. I saw Gloryhammer last February in Milan and it was a brilliant show!
