Just a little advice if you’d like it, stratum does break down over time(if you weren’t aware) & turns to mush which can cause rot. It can also be a bit heavy on the roots when it breaks down so mixing it with chunky perlite can help that. I even like to add a little vermiculite to help keep the moisture if you don’t want to water as often. If you mix it with those, it’ll still give the same results but stretch so much farther so you don’t have to spend as much on stratum. ☺️ Loved your video, great job can’t wait to see more!

You are amazing! I’ve actually recently been switching to adding perlite into my stratum for that very reason! I never thought of adding vermiculite tho, that’s so freaking smart. Will for sure be trying that!

@@M.mbotanicals I’m glad you didn’t take offense to any advice. Definitely not my intent, just want to share any knowledge I’ve collected with other plant lovers cause it can get expensive.😅 They are so addictive!

@@Oubaitori_Aroidsomg it can be so freaking expensive 😭 the amount of money I’ve blown on experimenting with different substrates is ridiculous lmao. Wish I knew about stratum was sooner, I would have saved sooooo much money 😢

@@M.mbotanicals so expensive! But my thoughts are if they help gives us some glimmer of happiness in this not so great life, life can be really hard sometimes, so to me it’s totally worth it.🤍

@@M.mbotanicals Adding perlite definitely helps in my experience, both to save money, and to add some air. though as the above poster mentioned, I moved away from Stratum for larger plants due to the mush issue. My current fav medium for anthurium is tree fern fiber based. Strait tree fern is great, but again due to cost, I mix things in. I've settled on 4 parts tree fern, 2 parts soil, 1 part perlite, 1 part charcoal.

Stratum is essentially compressed volcanic soil that contains a ton of nutrients and minerals. LOVE stratum however it should only be used on a temporary basis. If you don’t keep up with watering, stratum will eventually resort to drawing out moisture/water from the plants’ roots. I only use it to root or rehab because it is AMAZING for that. Considering the cost of stratum, it’s not the most cost efficient medium because it does break down over time and you can’t necessarily reuse it the same way like the other semi hydro mediums available (like pon or leca).
Just some things for you think about as you explore your stratum journey! Beautiful collection and good luck!

Thank you so much omg, this was such a thoughtful and informative comment 🥺 I had no idea that stratum draws moisture from the roots omg that’s great to know! Thank for watching, and sharing some insight 💕🫶🏼

I've been wondering, what kind of fertilizer do you use in your anthuriums?
