    So I need braces but I have two choices I can either pull some adult teeth and have braces for a pretty long time or get jaw surgery to move my bottom jaw forward and have braces for less time. I don’t know what to do and I think my parents are leading in the direction of getting my teeth pulled. I just don’t know what I should do. I don’t have any pain in my jaw right now but I do have trouble pronouncing some words. I also heard that jaw surgery helps with appearance. Anyone have any advice ??

    • @rinpowers8389
      @rinpowers8389 Před 3 lety +5

      Mia Tonucci at a certain point your teeth problems become a medical or skeletal problem rather than just dental or cosmetic. id go for the surgery because it actually fixes the problem, it doesnt just cover it up

    • @kelseysmith9050
      @kelseysmith9050 Před 3 lety +6

      I would definitely go for the surgery, it fixes pretty much everything for a long-term time.. pronunciation, appearance, eating, all of that good stuff.. it's a painful recovery, but I don't regret it one bit! You should consider

    • @klaudiaziv1091
      @klaudiaziv1091 Před 3 lety +2

      Mia Tonucci my orthodontist said that pulling out adult teeth can make your face change (there was a study done on twins that show it is very possible that it will give your face a sunken in appearance compared to expanding the jaw which gave the jaw definition/space ). You should expand your mouth to fit your teeth instead of removing teeth to fit your mouth. I’m having an upper jaw expansion surgery next month and a lower jaw surgery in a years time to do so. The lower jaw surgery brings your jaw forward to give the chin a sort of S shaped appearance (the ideal chin). It also gives you a stronger jaw line. Maybe ask if a SARPE surgery would benefit you?

      I got double jaw surgery a while ago (on my 5th week now) and there wasn’t any huge problems. The only thing that “annoyed” me was the dieting after since you have to be on a super soft/liquid diet. however, nourish milk is what kept my calories high and body filled. It’s only time that people may struggle with. Pain wasn’t bad at all since most oral surgeons prescribe high painkillers long enough till the pain is eased!

    I went to the orthodontist today and he took out my plate. He showed me my x-rays and he said I had a massive severe overbite. He said that until I get my next plate in I’ll need to put my bottom jaw over my top jaw and it hurts my jaw muscles and top teeth badly. If I don’t do this there’s a chance ill definitely need jaw surgery..I’ve been watching videos of it, but it’s really scaring me..
