Can "Off-Grid" Power Be Any Easier? Bluetti EP800 SNEAK PEAK

- I recently was in Southern California helping a few customers and family when Bluetti reached out to me to see if I'd like a sneak peak at their new product. While Chino, CA is no just down the street from where I was located, it sure is a lot closer than Apache Junction, AZ so I agreed to drive up and take a look. Let me first apologize for bad camera work and interviewing as I went in completely blind and just started recording as I walked in. Secondly, I would like to thank Dillon for answering every question I threw at him, unplanned and no matter how silly. As I keep testing out the AC300 that I have from Bluetti I am impressed by its durability and ease of use and flawless performance. So I am looking forward to the EP800 that seems to be stout enough to be a complete, out-of-the-box, home energy storage and management system that doesn't require any special tools or knowledge to setup. While not quite so useful for RVs, this does seem perfect for emergency home power, cost shifting, off-grid homesteads and cabins.
I do want to thank the entire Bluetti staff and team that showed me nothing but kindness and respect in something of an odd situation.
Even though, this is not a paid or sponsored video, Bluetti did provide discount codes for my viewers if interested!

Hope prices do come down is a few years. Great video. I am a fan.
They do provide a well designed & engineered power solution! Very impressive, great review James!
thank you!
This is the first time I’ve been to the facility. You had some great questions about being off grid and 240, and loads.
I would like to have this for my home. Thank you for the video!
I really liked the video - go Bluetti! But then you had to go and change the coolant, and I realized that I haven't done it on my rig, yet. Thanks for keeping me busy!
Has Will Prowes reviewed these things yet? 😱😁👍👍🇺🇲
I don't think so, it was just a sneak peak and just released, I'd be excited to see what he thought too.
Nice video you asked all the questions I needed.
Glad to hear it!
I like the quick connection and the 90○
That young guy knows his stuff 👍
I was very impressed too. He didn't know I was showing up either.
ramona...you should have stopped by discount rv and say hi..maybe next time
Thanks!
Really cool. Thanks for sharing. Don
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful setUPS.....
Thank you!
impressive !
I like it. Thank you for this tour and interview James. Nice Beaver. Happy trails!
You only need a licensed electrician if you live in a larger or large city. In the rural areas only needs your local utilities company to make the line connection to grids.
Wow awesome warranty
What about installing in a motor home? Replace the boat anchors
Awesome specs how come we don't hear about them are they on the market solid or not ? how's the tech support ?
Looks hot
Inexpensive preventative maintenance on that cat cooling system. until i saw the CAT elc
James, Wish I had known you were up the street. We were at Prado. Next time let me know. You can be our guest at Prado. These new units will compete with Teslas battery systems head on. Nice.
James I noticed a motor home in the next garage area in primer, do you paint motor homes also? Just curious I saw it and wondered.
I have a painter yes
Really good video, very interesting. How will those Bluetties stand up in the sub zero conditions, like Mn.?
Great question.
they do have heaters built in, I don't do well in sub zero conditions though.
I have a question. I have valances around my windows.. held on by little metal l brackets. The little screws keep falling out. How do i keep them in i tried expoy with no luck.
it's very difficult as they are mounted to 1/8 paneling, I've repositioned the bracket on the valance so there is a new spot on the wall to grab.
Very impressive…but…they are just a storage ..panels or shore is what is needed to charge systems…and in north east we have many days without sun…and if power goes out fuel powered generators are the best for north USA 🇺🇸…but great information
Ditto
The reliance panel had a mix of eating and look like 15in Siemens in there that's a fix manufacturers in a panel
I tried to listen, but the audio was hard to hear for my old ears. Will try again later.
Thanks for trying, this was a long California trip and the visit was kind of shoehorned in, I tried boosting the volume too.
Worked! I re-watched it. Volume better. And that was a good example of how to change the coolant! That is next on my to do list. ;)

Was interesting. Just curious of how many gallons it took to fill the radiator.
I also have solar and APS which allows you to produce more then you use and haven’t had an electric bill for two years. I am looking for a backup system. Just looking at the Tesla wall and estimate was 10k. Looking at other options.
12 gallons. The Tesla wall has been having problems shipping units. I wish I could say I haven't had a power bill since 2009 but I have a minimum service connect charge and SRP zeros out the balance just before summer for some reason :)~ At any rate I estimate I save north of $200 a month since April of 2009 so at least $34,200 since it was installed.
@@AZExpert unfortunately I heard SRP won’t allow people to put up more the 70% of what you use.
We get the fees also and even with that II sell enough back. Those fees are ridiculous! To bad we can’t raise the rates when we want to lol. That’s impressive savings over the years though.
I just tell people when they ask if it was worth it. I say it’s a way of not taking it in the shorts from the electric companies as the years go on. Plus as demand goes up so will the price. We had a 2007 Camry hybrid we just sold and bought the Rave 4 recently. Over 300k miles on the camry.
James What are you thinking $8000 how many people do you think can throw that out the window and give it a try I'm sure it's a really nice piece I have a Bluettti box. Maybe your clientele can afford it but not this game so I'm passing on the whole video have a good day sir you're the best technician in the land but🤔
I understand. It was a rare opportunity to ask questions and see the product, I will say an Onan quiet diesel is $10k-$15k and still needs $5/gal diesel to run. Thanks for watching!
Where DOES he get those cool hats 😊
👍🏽
Is 10 gallons of coolant about right?
took 12
Very interesting. Will definitely check out the website and ask them more questions.
Now I need your help with a few short disel class A rv 1999 Beaver Monterey , 2011Monaco Vesta and 2012 Damon Avanti. Which one will be the best buy? I know that money will decide but in general I would like to get your professional opinion. I hope you get to see this. Thanks
Whew, I do not care for the Vesta or Avanti Euro style RVs and have seen a few rotten floors on them.
@@AZExpert Yes , I so an Avanti and the slide was sagin. We walked away from that one. Will need to check on the Vesta. How difficult will be to find parts if I need to fix the Beaver? NIRVC said they don't work on rvs older than 10 years. How difficult will be to find a service location to work on the rv that old. How to choose the correct rv tech to work on the rv this old? Does the Beaver that age will have a good turning ratio? I have a Thor ACE 2015 that I don't care to much but; I am an old soul. I would love an older rv. We have learned a lot to work on the rv . A professional tech will be needed for major problems. Thanks for your opinion 👍 🙂
@@AZExpert Haven't been able to find videos with problems in this rvs
I hurd you say free travel. The politicians are now saying they are going to charge ev owners by the mile (road tax)
That's republicans and trump hate electric vehicles
current system road tax is paid at the pump, roads don't fix themselves but don't need gas or diesel to function.
@@AZExpert Yes that's true but ev vehicles still have to drive on the roads and interstates and uncle sam it's going to let you get away without paying,, road taxes are for sure come
@@denniscox9277 Currently EVs do not pay for roads and use them for free, only gas and diesel drivers pay so Uncle Sam should tax the EVs
@@AZExpert I'm sure they will be taxed at some point unfortunately,,
Thank you for your video's AZ I've had an RV for a few years and your channel has helped me out quite a bit.
James, I'm a subscriber. I just want all your followers to know that Bluetti has no technical support. You can only deal with tech issues via email, typically with personnel in China. It is very cumbersome. So far, I've not been able to solve my problem. Possibly worse is they must have dedicated personnel to scrub any negative reviews, comments or problems that show up online. Very sinister to me.
That's good to know. I am somewhat surprised due to their location in Chino Hills, CA and Vegas. I have found the App has been upgraded constantly too.
Bluetti charges 2x for their 4.9kwh battery than for a 5kwh rack mount battery without any additional features
That kid sounds poorly prepared given the fact they had you stop by.
Why not grab an beat up car hauler trailer. Fix it up. Replace the roof and all for content and education for us. Then slam it full of batteries and solar. Make it your mobile garage. You can store your tools in it securely. It’s mobile. And you make content and educate us.
I can see the huge appeal for some RV uses. But for home backup power, no battery system is even reasonable, especially when price is factored in when compared to a standby natural gas or LP generator. 20kw would last an hour or two powering a modest home in the summer running AC, assuming it could start the compressor, which I tend to doubt. During the winter, with gas heat, maybe a day. Contrast that with a smaller standby generator running at 12kw, it can produce and deliver that 12kw for days or even weeks, rain or shine.
I run 2 mini splits easily with Bluetti ac300 , you don't know what your taking about
People always wanna comment when they don't own something
@@garys6898 1. How many homeowners use mini-spits as the primary cooling for a single family detached house?
2. For how long?
I have central AC and I also have a portable AC unit that i use in one room during the summer. Sure, a battery system could easily run that portable system for a while. But that's not what we are talking about.
3. Everyone else understood the point. But you want to stand up a straw man and say, "see! see!"
@kcgunesq wrong, works full time, 1400 Sq ft residential
You know nothing
@@garys6898 What is the LRA in-rush on the system? Because on my 4 ton unit, it can exceed 100A.
Chino. By the prison? Lol
Prisons.
The technology just isn't available yet for a reasonable price and in a space the size of an Onan generator. I prefer a gas/propane Onan 6500 to run 2 15K ACs in n my 5th wheel. When a solar package can be purchased for about $6500 bucks that takes up the same amount of space and at the same cost, I'll start looking. I like fossil fuels.
Thank you for the video, but "I believe" they gave you the least knowledgeable person at Bluetti. He didn't answer a single question without saying, "I believe...." Probably doesn't even realize he's doing it....
Not to be a jerk but I'm guessing most peeps come to your channel for RV life/maintenance info. If those batteries don't fulfill the requirements of an RV - direct/near direct replacement of coach batteries - you are veering too far away from why the majority checks in here. Maybe you can drill into the minds of these manufacturers that there's a huge RV market looking for a battery replacement system for SLAs that can power a roof a/c overnight (and maybe a few incidental loads, mainly entertainment/lights) and fit into typically available RV storage areas and not require outrageously expensive ancillary upgrades such as replacing inverters, etc. Pretty much every single RV and energy marketer channel is completely missing the RV upgrade market.
Yeah, I'd be jumping on it but I'm enjoying my retirement too much to invest my effort into becoming filthy rich - but that's just me...
If boondocking for a few days in sunny area...I think it would be feasible😊
