The script felt like a series of B stories not tied into the main story at all. No character development and they reduced all the characters to 1 basic trait. Batman’s only game plan was to bomb/nuke things, and Superman literally just kept getting beat by amazo. Vixen and MM did nothing, and the idea of powering infinite towers doesn’t even make sense, how can you power infinite towers? Why not get 100 flashes to make the towers instead of a bunch of other heroes? Everything felt like an afterthought.
The main thing about this story was that it felt confusing cos towards the I didnt know what was going like why am I getting flashbacks of justice league and why is there vixen in the justice league instead of Wonder woman, how are there two supermans and rest everyone has only one version of themselves?It dosent seem like something interesting for part 2
It tried to tell too many stories simultaneously; this odd iteration of the Justice League's whole backstory was not really necessary or relevant to the story at large, and did not need to be shoved in.
I’m glad you referenced Archer for the animation style cause that was my first thought. I haven’t seen many DC animated films but I’d love to hear your thoughts because your analysis of story mechanics applies to any genre!

All the subplots made sense in the main narrative, basically made the build up, Barry plot (The main character who start and "ends" this), Syndicate crime (the impact of an tragic end making it more terrifying) JL origin (not really necessary but fixing the biggest Jl warlord mistake)
The Tomorrowverse has been a convoluted mess. With movies that mostly felt like standalone films. A shadow of what the DCAU used to be during the JLU days and The New 52 animated universe that came afterwards.

I too have had My own issues with this so-called Tomorrowverse: these Movies have either been Hit or Miss with Me, and (completely agreed) their Animations and Dialogues have more often looked or felt more than a little "stiff." I have Enjoyed "Man of Tomorrow" / Both Parts of "The Long Halloween" / and "Legion of Super-Heroes" because those (IMHO) have had the most Mature of Character Dramas and Developments. I'm going to keep My fingers crossed for this "Crisis on Infinite Earths" Trilogy, and hope that it'll all have been worth it🤞in the end...
I hope so too, because the Crisis has always been a really interesting DC story. As for the other movies, I suppose I'll find out for myself if I do end up doing that full animated movie binge I mentioned.
I felt Jensen Ackles' performance reflected Earth 2 Batman really well. He's not as charismatic since he doesn't have a sidekick to soften him up. He's more stilted and socially stunted still from living a mostly solitary lifestyle. His billionaire playboy side doesn't show up as it isn't relevant to the plot or his superhero side in general.

Under the Red Hood is epic; been a fan of it since I was young. Jensen Ackles plays Red Hood there, with a much better performance. By "who killed the joker" I assume you mean The Killing Joke?

I just finished part two and had to start looking for someone talking about this. It only doubled down on my opinion of this weirdness. Anyway, I am happy to say yeah I agree with all of this, this was my experience almost exactly, even with regards to what I've seen prior to this, and that even without seeing the other tomorrowverse content, I really wasn't finding myself confused. While I respect the creatives who worked on this, and they deserve to feel proud of their work, in this modern era of corporate corner cutting trying to find a way to use ai to shave off another layer on the edges of thin paychecks, I cannot help but wonder if all this weirdness is somehow tied to that. Mimicry of human behavior from something that cannot comprehend it. Which is only highlighted even more by the second part's emphasis on one of the character's being a hyper empath. What the hell happened here?
There is a shot after the climax, where the superheroes celebrated their win. It looks horrible! Like one of those old Speed Racer/Captain America cartoons!
Thought maybe i was just tired when i first watched crisis because I couldn't make out much of what was going on and tbh found myself dozing off for most of it....Now that I've watched this video I know for sure that it wasn't just me. Also whoever said that you don't need to watch the earlier tomorrowverse films lied. Only after watching warworld ( which i did subsequent to watching crisis) did i start to understand some of the things in crisis that previously made no sense. Yes the pauses in dialogue are weird.
I just finished this movie and it felt very disjointed, especially the first act. Yeah the animation style wasn’t really all that hot but this movie had some great emotional highs for me and surprises, since I’ve never read the comic, but this movie will probably stick with me because the sense of dread is heavy.
I think calling the “animation” style stiff might be more accurate as art style has to do more with color palette costume design etc. imo the dc animated features have fallen off a cliff in terms of quality especially where they force a shared universe. The best dc animated movies imo take singular ideas and run with them. I highly recommend Under the Red Hood if you haven’t seen that and the batman / damian wayne run of movies. The damian wayne movies are inconsistent but they at least showcase how DC animated movies can produce decent action cuts. It sucks cause DC would do great under an animation style akin to the castlevania series or anything more leaning towards anime.
I know I kind of lumped art style and animation together, but I did mean that I found the ART STYLE in specific unappealing, meaning the colors, general model and character design, costumes, etc. (which is why I mention it looks like Archer). The whole art aesthetic is not my cup of tea, and on top of that the animations are very stiff and lack fluidity. lol the book its based on is almost 1000 pages it was used to reset the dc universe in to one if you read the book its almost beat for beat the same
