Your hair looks good! I stopped getting curly cuts because I was getting too many fairy knots. When I got my hair blown out, it was 4 inches longer on my right side. I think the stylist curly cutting technique and level of training is critical to how well they can get to those ends.

Part 1. Your hair is beautiful! Although it was a year since your last salon visit, you took good care of your hair (even the before) as it shows in the after! I like that you are persistent.

From everything I've seen in the last couple of months, the advice given was for clients to have their hair blown out so the ends can be assessed. Cut off ALL split ends and then you can re-wet the hair and do a curly cut FOR SHAPE.
Everyone is different, so if using gel by itself works for your hair then stick with that. For others they may need or prefer a leave-in under the gel. I don't think curly cuts themselves were under attack. It seemed to me that the method of not assessing the ends fully before cutting was being questioned.
I personally prefer my hair to be blown out and cut in a way that looks good when it's curly or on the very rare occasions that I wear it straight.
Good luck in your hair journey!

I just went to a salon for a curly cut, but I blew dry my hair and the stylist cut it. The stylist did a great job, I hadn’t had a professional cut in 9 years. She did a wash and go and it came out fine.

Your cut looked great! You've definitely found what products work for you, and that plus the olaplex probably contribute to you being happy with how your hair is. Even though there have been a lot of people who suffered, some people have been fine. Do what works for you, ultimately. Thanks for sharing!

It looks good. I used to go to Dickie Salon, but also followed the Black Girl Curls, so I’ve taken something from both, but was always nervous about the curly cut, still on the fence with that. The cut looks great on you tho! 😊

I have noticed that a lot of non- blackgirlcurls curly cuts are done on hair that is blown out, or stretched after the hair is defined.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't noticed the same. I did notice some stylists including some black girl curls stylists start the cut on the client's dry wash and go before they shampoo.

Thank-you for sharing and your cut looked great! I noticed your stylist cut your hair in sections which I feel may address some concerns about the curly cut. I am not sure of the process but I heard some stylist trim curl by curl after the initial curly cut possibly not addressing all the damaged ends(?) I am scheduling my curly cut and I will inquire about subsequent trimming of my ends.
