BTS actually covers a lot of genres. Not sure if there's subtitles in this live but if you watch the official mv, turn the caption on for subtitles. They usually write deep lyrics.
BTS is a 7 members group with 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They have been active for the past 10 years. Currently all 7 of them are in the military to fulfill their mandatory military service for 18 months. Expected to see them back as a group mid 2025.
BTS actually have English songs. As a group, they have 3 English songs released during the pandemic (Dynamite, Butter, Permission to dance) to cheer up people. So these 3 songs are happy poppy song. They also have English songs when collab with western artist.
Other than group songs they also have released solo album before going to the military except for the eldest member Jin, who only released a song as a temporary goodbye to the fans since he's the first one to enter the military in Dec last year. Probably he will release an album after he complete his service by June2024.
Out of the solo album, only the youngest, Jungkook released a full English album titled Golden with multiple smash hits like standing next to you, seven and 3d.

@@mlynlim5337 I know that this is an old topic, but BTS themselves never denied to be a kpop group. I think that, except for those english poppy songs, they demonstrate just how good a kpop group can be when its members have the freedom to express themselves. Love from an Italian mom💜🇮🇹🙋🏻♀️

BTS discography is so varied and wide that trying to pin them down to one style is impossible. What you will get is top tier beats and production, good vocals, extraordinary rapping skills and a depth of lyricism seldom found in Western pop any longer. BTS fans (ARMY) will tell you BTS isn’t K-pop. But that is something you can decide for yourself if you continue down the kpop rabbit hole.

I have been a army since 2013 and i can say i have never loved anything more than BTS they saved my life
I've got to say...choosing to react to Black Swan's live performance for a first impression was a great choice! It's a song about the fear of losing their passion for music and dance, by the way. It's quite emotional.
They're great artists and very humble men. They make conscious music and aren't afraid to try new things with it. They like to talk about important topics like mental health, self-love, or hard work

You should definitely check out the music video for this song at some point. :) The lyrics are really sad and beautiful. The song is about their fear of someday losing their passion for music and how it would feel like death to them. But also in the music video Jimin, who is a trained contemporary dancer in addition to being one of the vocalists, has some solo dance spots that are just beautiful.
It is impossible to get a sense of what they 'sound' like from just a few songs, heh, because one of their 'things' is how versatile their sound and songwriting is. Whatever song you choose next won't sound anything like Black Swan. :)
Bts are the biggest musical act from South Korea, and you can never go wrong with them. Their lyricism is another level as you will find out in the future💜 Welcome to the rabbit hole😂

While BTS originated in K-pop, they are a genre on their own after 10 years in the music industry. While they perform in a vast amount of genres they have a very unique sound which I could never find anywhere else in K-pop. It's a combination of very different vocals, excellent rap and deep lyrics blending together into something which moves people. Add their personalities, sense of humour and kindness to the blend, and that's why we as the fan base (ARMY) is so huge. 💜
As someone else said, all 7 are currently serving in the military, but before going, each of them released solo music in very different genres. You might enjoy looking into both group and solo music, because it varies so much, it's fun to discovering it. No matter what you do, enjoy! Remember that official MVs will have subtitles but they are also fantastic performers so if you want to watch live performances, just search for it with english subs (as long as they are not auto-generated, you are good!).💜

This is my first time seeing you react, so I’m not sure what kind of music you like and what songs to recommend. As other comments have said, their music covers a large range of genres. Potentially On Kinetic Manifesto (with the closed captions on for English subtitles). But they have pop songs, hip hop songs, EDM songs, R&B songs, ballads, even a couple of songs with Latin flavor, and then a bunch of songs that I couldn’t name a category for. Each of the 7 members also have solo songs that are all equally good as their group stuff. Unlike western groups, BTS doesn’t have to break up for them each to release solo albums. They support each others solo careers while still remaining a team and doing team projects as well.

trust me, i was recommended this when i sat next to an Army early 2020, i didn't listen bc the title seemed a bit weird, then in jun 2021 i finally discovered bts bc of butter and then finally checked out ON Kinetic Manifesto and i REALLY regretted not checking it out at the time (lost time!!!) Imo it's the BEST for a newbie to check out! turn on subtitles!
@@sc33h3o3 It is! I think it provides a great overview of all of the things they offer and do extremely well: deep lyrics, positive message, beats, interesting choreography,, synchronicity, excellent vocals, different rap styles, high production value, synergy, and of course, L👀KS.

As mentioned "Black Swan" is of their "Map of the Soul: 7" album in 2020.
The MV leans on the thriller of the same name.
(there is also an MV with a remix by a ballett group)
"Map of the Soul" is a book about Carl Jungs theories on psychology.
BTS does concept albums - or better said over multiple albums.
The song itself is about their fear to loose their passion for their art: music.

This is applied Jungian psychology and as such describes their "Shadow" as artists.
The "Shadow" is our unconscious side: what we won't even admit to ourself, fear, hate, anger, dark emotions & thought that keep us up at night/make us depressed/we don't want to deal with.
Unfortunately it is part of us and to grow as people we have to incomporate as much of it as possible into our consciousness as that is the closest to our "true self": we are more than our "good"/acceptable sides.
At that point they explored the "Persona" aspect already. The "Shadow" aspect is "too dark" and so the album incoporates also the "Ego" part.
The song "On" is the point where the "Persona" and the "Shadow" are merged.
If you look for a song with a certain message or genre we may be able to help you find it within the groups large discography.
The members are very interesting people and as such we usually suggest to watch Taylor Mari's intro vid "the Bangtan 7" - at the moment she is working on an update as since than a lot of it has changed.

The only thing to add to the previous comment is they are known for their lyricism and love of their fans. Take Junkooks runaway success with Golden instead of capitalising on this financially the majority of his performances were free to fans either as part of tv shows, u tube releases or performances like the pop up concert in Times Square that became a huge event despite no warning.
