  • In Acts 23:1-11, Paul stands before the Sanhedrin and confidently defends his actions and faith. He begins by declaring his clear conscience before God. When the high priest Ananias orders him to be struck, Paul reacts sharply but quickly retracts when he realizes who Ananias is. Paul cleverly divides the assembly by proclaiming his Pharisaic beliefs, highlighting the hope of the resurrection. This causes a dispute between the Pharisees and Sadducees, leading to a chaotic situation. That night, the Lord appears to Paul, encouraging him to be courageous and affirming that he will bear witness in Rome just as he has in Jerusalem.
