In my latest CZcams video on "Reactive Gaming," we explore how to enhance your survival experience in Sons of the Forest with the True Survival mod by OhMyJeeves. This mod introduces increased realism and challenge, making your gameplay more in line with the first game.
Key changes include:
Removed Modern Food/Drink Items: Say goodbye to Drink Cans, Ramen, Energy Bars, MRE Packs, Cereal Boxes, and Canned Food.
Increased Inventory for Meat & Fish: Fish capacity increased to 6 from 3, Meat to 10 from 7, Bacon Bites to 5 from 1, Steak Bites to 5 from 1, and Brain Bites to 5 from 1.
Increase Flask Usages: Your flask now has 4 uses instead of 2, balancing the removal of drinks.
Improved Spear for Hunting: Boosted thrown spear damage and increased melee spear damage for more effective hunting and early-game combat.
Rebalance Animal Traps & Hutches: Fish traps hold 1 fish instead of 5, rabbit hutches allow breeding, and various tweaks to trap and hutch viability.
Rebalance Food Drops from Animals: Adjusted meat drops from squirrels, raccoons, turtles, deer, and moose for balanced hunting.

Currently I have not touched meds as I need to look into plant spawns/amounts and how viable health mixes in the default game to understand what needs rebalancing but I hope to release this in a future update😅
I also have not touched how much each food and drink item (e.g. clams) will fill up your different stat meters yet either but this may also change in the future!
The deer are really crafty buggers to hit 😂This is why I made it a one hit kill for thrown spears for early game hunting as usually its 2/3 hits unless you can head shot, plus it was one hit to kill in the original game
Steak, bacon and brain bites are actually an increase to inventory, previously you could hold 1 and now you can hold 5. There was a mistake in my documentation, sorry / thank you!

Hey! Thats my friends mod! Enjoy your playthrough, but watch out. This mod makes the normal game feel like playing on easy mode with cheats on 😂
What an awesome mode it is. We love it. So much more fun to play like this.
Holding the Ctrl key lets you crouch and approach the deer more closely before they run away.
