Fun Fact: "The Empire Strikes Back" translates to "I, Darth Vader, am Luke's father and will cut his hand off' in Grenadian Creole English. Anger over the spoiler sparked a revolution that overthrew the government in 1979. The original government was restored in 1983 when US troops arrived with copies of Return of the Jedi.

Yeah, it really feels like you were supposed to play up until V got their own place, that way you have more interactions with Mama Welle's and T-Bug so you're at all attached to those characters. Then they could montage a few months of Jackie and V living it up, really making a name for themselves, but the sudden jump from "complete outsider to this way of life" to "seasoned veteran" is kinda jarring, especially since V still doesn't seem to know anyone after the jump.

Yeah same, I’m completely baffled. These people seem to know NOTHING about the internet if they think people won’t dissect every single frame and sound effect till the game comes out, so why give away any spoiler ? I have never cared about spoilers. Because just because a asshole says the ending of the game with a few sentences will never beat actually going there and doing it all yourself. It's not just about the story it's about the experience and no one can do a full experience justice within a sentence or two. I'm glad I never saw that Fallen Order teaser, because the Darth Vader reveal was a legit surprise for me and really served to heighten the tension and excitement of the last part of the game as you realize how unbelievably strong he is compared to your character and really hammers home that you would stand ono chance against him. In fact, it's all you can do to even run away. Just the right amount of character implementation in my view, and all this effect because I accidently avoided a spoiler teaser. See game devs? I only had 40 bucks of saved up pocket money, and had to beg my mom for the other 20.. well worth the extra chores. Terminator 2.
There was a trailer that had "come with me if you want to live" in it.
Everyone went into the cinema already knowing that the T-100 was a good guy this time. If not for that, people would have gone in thinking that there were TWO terminators going after Sarah Connor this time.

This is exactly why I don't watch trailers for games or movies/shows. They really do spoil a lot and even if they don't give away specific twists they want to show the most exciting parts which are almost always near the end of the game/movie/show so I know I'm still not near the end when I can remember specific scenes from the trailers.

The thing I find hilarious about Kojima's most recent trailers, including Death Stranding and MGSV, is that they tend to contain *huge* spoilers, usually from the very end of the game, but because they're so out-there no-one can even tell

Kinda surprised they didn't mention Vergil in the trailer of DMC5, he was teased through the game in subtle bits up to grand reveal but if you saw the trailer you knew he'd be in the game for sure. But it was likely intentional since he's one of the more recognizable and loved characters

I've played most of these but never actually seen any advertising for them. Video games didn't get commercials often at all at least around this time when I was growing up, and internet was still dial-up without huge social networks like Twitter for people to spoil them for you. I'd never seen these trailers, the only advertisements I'd see would be from magazines like Tips & Tricks or Gameinformer, occasionally from demo discs included in magazines.

Cool trailers, but can it run Crysis?
The Crysis (2007) trailer/spoiler still annoys me whenever I think about it. As if the graphics, gameplay, and a hint of mystery wouldn't have been enough to sell the game at the time, they really didn't need to spell out the twist for us. 🙄
