I appreciate Buffy being on this list. Buffy is the ONLY show I have the full series on DVD.
I think Breaking Bad deserves a spot on this list, it's just a masterpiece as is and even wrapping up with El Camino just felt right.
Agreed
Totally
I didn't love El Camino. I mean it was good but it wasn't on the masterpiece level of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
@@jimmymurphy898 yes I agree
What, you don't see junior taking over the business?
Orphan Black should be on this list. Tatiana Maslany’s performance just can’t be replicated.
I was just thinking that. Cosima was my favorite character.
I’m a huge NYPD Blue fan. I don’t want to see any hackneyed TV producer reboots an iconic cop drama.
Yes this and Hill Street Blues
As with Disney, the animated series “Lady Lovely Locks and the Pixietails” was greenlit for a major reboot on Disney+ but was scrapped after they (American Greetings) decided not to give Disney $50 million to add 2 new characters that aren’t in the original series: Maiden Goldenwaves and Maiden Mistycurls.
A Lost remake actually could work. Provided that the writers and producers did two things.
#1: Planned the whole thing out, start to finish, before they started production.
#2: Assured everyone that they had done so.
The big problem with Lost, I'm convinced, is that they knew how to set up an intriguing premises, but did so without having any answers of their own. One of the very first things they did was deny the fan theory that they had all died in the plane crash and the island was Purgatory, but the truth at that time was nonexistent.
So what happened? When it came time to bring everything to a close, they had to do this pathetic about-face to the fans that "Um, well, no, it wasn't REALLY Purgatory, and they didn't REALLY die because... Umm... Reasons... And, um... Okay, we lied: You got it right all along".
If the producers threw out all the clumsy patchwork canon that didn't make any sense, set the framework first and stuck with it, and didn't get their knickers in a twist when they saw some fans theorizing correctly, it could wind up being better than the original.
agreed the writers were as lost as the characters. They would make a big deal out a plot point then drop it(the numbers)
I totally agree. Lost is a study on how not to create a mythology. They just kept adding stuff (very interesting, granted) and incredible cliffhangers, but with no payoff. You clearly see that they didn't plan anything. I'm one of the few who kinda enjoyed the finale, but I agree it was a shitty way of not acknowledging the fans that back in season 1 had foreseen it. I still think it's one of the best TV shows of the past 20 years, but I could have been on par with Breaking Bad or other top-notch ones-just A LOT of wasted potential.
"LOST is, in my opinion, the best series of all time. The only issue is that people tend to overlook the details and flashbacks in the series too easily! Every single detail is explained, but, to be honest, it's impossible to catch everything after just one viewing.
SPOILER ALERT!
The island, of course, was never a purgatory. The events after they 'mysteriously' crossed the ocean and landed in LA are just a representation of what 'life after death' might look like. Not everyone was dead the whole time, and everything that happened on the island actually did happen.
I hope that anyone who maybe didn't catch on or wasn't impressed with the series will give it another chance now that it's being streamed on Netflix! Regards!"
Moral Orel (2005-2008) & Squidbillies (2005-2021) These 2 Adult Swim originals are a Time Capsule of the era they aired In for Adult Swim to remake them would be Blasphemy same goes to Robot Chicken (2005-2022)
When they changed Early's voice in the final episodes, it as too weird to watch. Hysterical series. Thank you, excellent choice!
Wait, robot chicken ended
@@BrushyMitenah but the last episodes we got were from last year
Moral Orel and Mr Pickles were the best parts of adult swim!
All In The Family was already a remake though. It was a remake of Til Death Us Do Part
True.
I can’t think of one TV show that should be rebooted, especially any one that was good
Actually, All In The Family is already a reboot to the British sitcom, Till Death Us Do Part.
This should be in the "Top 10 Times WatchMojo Got it Wrong in 2023" video
For you title reboots and remakes are 2 completely different things. Reboot is often reimagined or adapted in some way. Remake is more in line with the original.
Thank you that someone said it
Thank you! They are two different things. Enough said.
Star trek and Stargate franchise don't remake them please they was both so good amazing stories characters and so much more
Lost was perfectly cast and was a fantastic show. Rebooting it would be awful.
They rebooted Quantum Leap and it’s terrible. That show was so well written and it had a great ending. No reason to reboot it.
Solid list. I was a fan of Lost but it veered off in many directions because it seemed like the producers didn’t have a clue how to end it. BTW The series finale of M.A.S.H. was watched by well over 100 million people
There is one TV show that I wouldn’t mind getting rebooted. Game of Thrones.
At least the last seasons.
I saw every episode of Lost-- as is true with many critics I feel the ending did not do justice to the superb writing of the first few years of the series. I feel that an alternative ending would be very very interesting
Steven Singer OA maybe that show deserved a spin off along with Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
"Would you be happy? Does it make sense? Why did it end in a church?" - Joker in Batman Arkham City
What are you lads/Lass top ten tv shows of all time?? Mine are
1. The wire (hands down the goat tv show)
2. Game of thrones
3. Mr robot
4. Dark
5. The boys
6. Breaking bad
7. Succession
8. Yellowstone
9. Stranger things
10. Sopranos
Honorable mentions
Mad men
Better call Saul
Dexter
The missus and I have been loving six feet under so far (on the back end of season 3) this show certainly has a chance to crack my top ten.
Marvellous video Rebecca from watch mojo of tv show that should’ve not be rebooted, fantastic job. I think Seinfeld should not be rebooted,it’s perfect the way it is.
Supernatural cause Jared's and Jensen chemistry and friendship is unmatched. Buffy the vampire Slayer, cause it's iconic and can't be topped
I hope there isn’t another breaking bad show
Three words: Teen Titans Go. Among the more awesome projects WB callously cut, that waste of money is basically the only thing they want to keep going.
Agreed
Couldn't agree more and that goes for any of the DCAU
Agree. TT should never be touched poorly. It was a great show I binge watch all the time. It’s reboot sucks balls.
Why did they cancel it? Can some explain why did they cancel it? I want to know 😡😡😡😡 I still hate Warner Brothers for doing this !! And don't forget day air it everyday they don't so other cartoons just teen Titans Go because kids like it why can't kids watch old cart networks shows like chowder or other old shows that we watched back in a day but no it's teen Titans Go It's always that so I'm sick of teen Titans Go It's a burn in the pits of you know I'm going to say and don't forget the animation is garbage It's like some 3 Year old kid made it on new grounds no That's an insult to new grounds newgrounds has good animation but teen times go It's so lazy I would love to watch the day if it got canceled and make a teen Titans season 6 the end of story
@@dragonnet289 many theories but the one I believe most is wil wheaton and what he said. They had to resell the show to the “overlords” as they called them who took over WB who said they wouldn’t allow them to do another season set in Titans Tower and they HAD to travel like they had in that final season. When the cast and crew objected, the show was canceled.
The two shows that should never be rebooted are Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Smallville.
If they even try to touch Smallville we right✊
@@mprattyh3 agreed. It doesnt help though that WB ignores Smallville when it comes to their premieres they do on their channel. They do EVERY other show but ignore Smallville and I dont get it. It's like they WANT it to be remade so they dont have to acknowledge it anymore.
Buffy could get a sequel since it'd fit with the lore but a reboot would just try to be like the original in ways that just wouldn't work today
@@Trekapedia which is very annoying because without Smallville there is no DCEU
Perfect
What would happen if these TV shows were rebooted the same way Ducktales was 30 years after the original series came out?
4:02 to add to what they said. Even during the show it was incredibly hard for the actors to get together to film an episode since martian freeman was filming the hobbit at the same time as sherlock
I hope noone ever reeboots breaking bad
I never watched it but I agree with you.
Yeah it's a masterpiece, that would be a disaster.
The X-Files should have been on this list!
That already got a revival, the problem is I have more questions after season eleven than I ever did after season nine. If you're not gonna wrap up your revival Chris, why bother 🤔
You could fix Lost with having a more satisfying ending for a series in a reboot.
Monk - that series Ended Perfectly...hope they never Reboot that.
One of my favourite shows and seriously underrated.
Same with Hollywood!! No originality anymore. Everything is a comic. I don't need 5500 versions of Batman or Superman or The Hulk. And Hollywood wants to remake The Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind. You just don't mess with classics.
Cartman is also inspired to some degree by All in the Family patriarch Archie Bunker. Origin story of Archie Bunker.
this list is fine. I like the thought of how tastes and opinions change. But what can we say on the face of it, these shows are among the golden treasures of television entertainment,
Sherlock is a actually a reboot! So it doesn’t matter if it gets rebooted with or without Benedict Cumberbatch, as long they can get a good actor play Sherlock Holmes! But Murder, She Wrote is a show that can’t be rebooted, because it’s was created for Angela Lansbury and the show set in Cabot Cove with her costars like Tom Bosley and Ron Masak! Also Married with Children and Breaking Bad can never be rebooted!
Unpopular Opinion but I think a remake of Friday Night Lights would also be successful. Especially since the show, especially on a streaming service, would be able to dive deep into topics that probably would be pushing the envelope on network shows. Remember the Steubenville rape case back in 2012? Imagine that against the backdrop of a small town in Texas where two of its popular football players were the perpetrators of an assault on a classmate.
*Supernatural.* That too worked due to the chemistry between the cast, has already had many shows taking inspiration from its premise and/or concept and (tied to the first point) wouldn’t work without the the same actors.
Was Norm referring to Cheers when he was talking to Sam about his one true love?
Brynhildr in the Darkness (2014) is one of my favorite TV anime series of ALL-TIME and one of the Best One Season TV Series of ALL-TIME.
The Cult Hit Horror Anime Series is SO GOOD that it's doesn't need a Reboot and I'm happy that Brynhildr in the Darkness (2014) will NEVER GET MADE TODAY due their cultural changes in the Anime University.
I even Tweeted and Retweets that Brynhildr in the Darkness (2014) is better off as a 14 Episode Anime Series.
😊🤳😁📱😃📲
4:25 I’ve heard of this show from scene it JR.
I am indifferent on a expanding the world of LOST. I do not think a reboot or remake should be made but possible a limited series following Hugo as the protector. Or even a whole new spinoff in the same world with different characters.
Buffy with todays special effects would be fun
The Sopranos, of course. If anyone actually thinks of that crazy idea, I am coming for you!
#1. Hogans Heroes.
Every other show on this list will be remade several times over before anyone dares trying to make another campy screwball comedy set in a Nazi POW camp.
Firefly should be rebooted: Different actors. Serenity movie ignored (ie Wash still alive). New series begins after "Objects in Space"
I think a Friends reboot could work, if you did it as the child of one of the characters, emma or the twins, and follow their lives in new york. If you did it similar to How i Met your Father and just to brief cameos and nods to the original. I know HIMYF wasnt great but if you get the writing right a new Friends could be great.
Perhaps the most beautiful sentence ever! 👍💪🏽✌️
I prefer revivals to remakes. Don't remake Alias, but I'd take a revival with the original cast, especially Jen Garner 😍
Obviously a Firefly revival would be great, a remake wouldn't be a swell idea
I'd love a season two for The Adventures of Brisco County Junior, but that most likely won't happen
The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones was cancelled prematurely, Indy didn't get to meet Marion
Wouldn't the Buffy show already be a remake to the Kristy Swanson movie. If actors grow up, characters should be able to as well, and they have the digitally de-aging technology nowadays anyway
In the movie, Buffy attended Hemery High School in LA, but in the show, Buffy moved from LA and Hemery High to be in Sunnydale because of her mom's job. This was referenced in the show. It wasn't a remake; it was more like a continuation of the story.
Hey Rebecca love this countdown channel. But can you and the other WatchMojos please stop cutting out the Honorable/Dishonorable Mentions segment before #1 is revealed? It’s starting to get very annoying
-Dexter
-Everybody Loves Raymond
-Home Improvement
-Angel
-Firefly
-Supernatural
My film and television class had a big essay about rebooting a series. None of them were here
There were reports a year or so ago that ABC execs want to reboot Lost, I've been dreading a formal announcement ever since, hopefully they've come to their senses
absolutely obsessed with friends however for a remake no please in yet fuller house what were they thinking no one wanted that remake the 90's sitcom did fine for itself
Fringe! Walter Bishop is one of the best characters ever written for television and NO ONE could do it better than John Noble.
Mash does not need to be touched ever its perfect the way it is
Hogan's Heroes.... My favorite show
Baywatch. Which almost got tried. In early 2020 variety announced tv pilot episode 'Baywatch: San Diego'. And a casting call for a lead actor. Lead character was going to be male. In their thirties. With two daughters. But real world events obviously interceded because nothing has been heard of this since. You could probably do a new version of Baywatch and make it a better produced programme. But without twenty two episode seasons and lots of eye candy, it wouldn't be the same.
A reboot or remake of Sherlock is just a matter of time
How come the teen titans go was done terrible but managed to make so many seasons with episodes featuring the heroes and villains acting as crazy as the Joker?
I’m pretty sure that other shows were doing the monster of the week before Buffy did, super sentai/power rangers definitely did
Supernatural should not be remade...period.
Both My name is Earl and I think Scrubs could be honourable mentions. Charmed is a reboot that never should have happened.
Obviously, I kind of don’t like that TV shows gonna reboot because the icarly reboot got canceled recently and it wasn’t that good and only ran for three seasons plus, Noah, Munck, and Jennette McCurdy weren’t in it Jennette McCurdy talks about in her book how Miranda Cosgrove tried to convince her to do the reboot but she didn’t want to do it. I obviously prefer watching the original versions of the TV shows instead of the reboot because most of it is bad thankfully that iCarly reboot got canceled and I am so happy that I did, it wasn’t that good anyway I prefer the original because it’s more kid friendly
They rebooted Charmed and can see how well that went 🙄 wasn't a hit for me
I want The Cleveland Show back
Babylon 5, Stargate, Gargoyles and Battlestar Galactica.
I wish they would have made at least a couple more seasons of Friends three-quarters of the way into the 11th season Monica found out she's pregnant everyone is like whoops, epitome of the 12th season he finally finds love permanently with one person and Ross and Rachel finally have another kid. Oh well one can only hope and make fanfiction about it, I stopped caring about lost into the fourth season when it went way to overboard after that.
Golden Girls. You can't remake Golden Girls.
There were 9 remakes of the show in different countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, and Chile.
Tv shows that should never bee rebooted: Friends,Sherlock-perfect reboot!,Lost,MASH,Buffy. Cheers perfect number 1. We all love this shows. They're perfect. Perfect just as they are😊
Mad Men was a masterpiece and totally ahead of its time when it was released! They don't make them like this anymore...
No question about it mad men is one of the best written and acted shows ever made. It’s easily a borderline top ten show for me. It’s hard to find a better show than mad men.
Mad Men is overrated. The main characters, particularly Jon Hamm and January Jones, were unlikable.
@@michaelmonthey5974 That's clearly an opinion
No mention of Twin Peaks?
The one and only 'The Office'. A true classic for the ages.
The people who made "Lost" also make a show called "From" to wit is my fav show all year. Sling/Prime/Paramount. Highly recommended. Make sure you got a weekend to KILL!!!
Lost is the best fucking show ever
I "like" how people believe that something being unnecessary means that it shouldn't exist >_>
Honestly, I don't believe the 2016 version of Eyewitness needs a reboot but it desperately needs a continuation and a SEASON 2 because it was full of potential before it unfortunately got cancelled after season one with only ten episodes and I also believe that it desperately needs to be yakked about WAAAAY more, I mean come on.... A murder thriller drama with a gay couple! Who wouldn't live that? I love the show and I still haven't watched it yet, but it's a brilliant concept! Not to mention the whole cast is phenomenally good at acting, portaying their characters woth such passion and they're all super talented but unfortunately... CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED and they need to be used in TV/Movies WAAAAY more offten then Hollywood reusing the same old actors/actresses over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again! I don't know about yall but I believe/think we saw some newer, younger, talented, full of acting potential and underrated actors on the big screen instead of not knowing who they are, being used in only miniseries or short flims and they just need to become a lot more recognized and noticed by the public and I think that the cadt of Eyewitness should seriously deserve more recognition attention and love because they are just as talented as any other "overrated famous celebrities" and that's the Truth. #WewantEyewittnessseason2 #Eyewittness #JamesPaxton #BillPaxton #TylerYoung
3rd rock from the sun
Shows that needed no reboot mine MacGvyer, Care Bears, My Little Pony, Thundercats, He-Man, Full House, and Boy Meets Wolrd. You can't bet thier their 1980s and/or 1990s versions.
sorry all the show has been rebooted
@@jimbo9208know you role and shut your mouth reaper
Yes, the MacGyver reboot was terrible. I also didn’t like the Magnum reboot. In both reboots the actor who played the main part, didn’t have half the amount of charisma that the original actors had. And why in Magnum was Higgins suddenly a woman? And don’t get me started about the reboot of Battlestar Galactica. I really loved the original show which unfortunately only lasted one season. The reboot was awful in my opinion.
I liked lost for the first few seasons but it just went on for too long in my opinion
I don't ever recall liking a reboot on any show !
Wait a minute they are doing another Friday Night Lights lmao at least it was already announced
Sins of Anarchy definitely should be in the list
Power Rangers should have been on this list because there are still Super Sentai seasons that haven’t gotten a Power Rangers adaptation like Toqger, Zyuohger, Kirameger, King Ohger and a true Kyuranger adaptation instead of Cosmic Fury, a hybrid adaptation between Ryusoulger and Kyuranger.
I loved Lost, but Gosh, it was such a letdown.
In 10 years, at least 3 of those shows will be rebooted.
Top Ten Shows that shouldn't have been rebooted, but were anyway ("Charlie's Angels" immediately comes to mind).
You just gave the studios a Top 10 list of shows to reboot
I hope they never Remake Married With Children, The Edgy and Sardonic Humor of Al Bundy can never be replicated.
LOST WAS A GREAT SHOW!
I loved lost!
4 8 15 16 23 42 should be pressed in every 108 minutes in Swan Station to suppress pocket energy!
Bewitched. Other countries have tried, but the performances are too good to try to duplicate.
Friends and breaking Bad plus better call Saúl better be left alone
Yeah, they are perfect
Meanwhile in Hollywood.
"So Reboot, right?"
"Brilliant."
This should be a top 20. Here are 10 more to add to the list
1. Power Rangers
2. Monk
3. Murder, She Wrote
4. Sesame Street
5. Bones
6. Game of Thrones
7. Psych
8. 7th Heaven
9. Beetleborgs
10. Kids Incorporated
The new season of Power Rangers in 2025 is going to be a reboot with no connection with any other Power Rangers season.
All in the Family has always been favorite sitcom. This show is to perfect to be rebooted and of course couldn't work today cause to many butt hurt people complain.Far as Archie being a bigot, he wasn't actually racist just ignorant from the ways of old but his character grew out of the ignorance with ever season. The show was quite clever in its day.
Xena definitely should be on this list. I don´t think that with other actresses in role of Xena and Gabrielle would not work. Same goes for LGBT subtext. I think that producers and show runners would try to make it maintext but it was kinda part of the charm to try to decipher what is intentional subtext and what is not.
As far as Friends goes, in my eyes that sitcom was kinda remaked with HIMYM (and in my eyes, HIMYM is far better than Friends which I hate with burning passion for some reason).
Reboots normally do not work. My ultimate hate is when they reboot a classic with a complete new cast.
Mad Men is perfect. Needs to be left alone.
Mama’s family should not be rebooted Vici Lawrence was perfect as Mama Harper
OA he series Lost should’ve been at number one and Buffy The Vampire Slayer should’ve been at number two. But still yeah I saw lost and I wasn’t pleased on how it ended it didn’t give out much with when that doctor could’ve survived that stab wound and everything however I would probably say a spin-off for that show would’ve been better. ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
OMG...what about The West Wing?
