What a great piece! I was thrilled to see you restore the compressor! You do great work and I look forward to all your videos! Please keep them coming! Thank you David!
Thanks! I do have to say that it is actually a model made by GE for only two years, 1935 and 1936. Their offering in the late 20's was the DR type, with the open coil condenser on top.
You might be able to modify this one to use a hermetic compressor like your sight glass test unit!! It wont sound the same but hey..make lemonade with them lemons!
David I got a great deal on am imperial hermetic service kit on ebay. Under $25 shipped. It is the 16 piece one. Could you point me to a video that shows how to install it on the system, please?
That is great! I have used it on several. Will dig up a video. Note that this is one of my very old videos, so apologies for the less quality. czcams.com/video/r65GQFKiumY/video.html
That fan is a 1925 Dturtevant-8 exhaust fan. It has a long and interesting history! I documented them (yes, there are two!) on the AFCA website in 2017 when I did these projects. One of the fans is in use in an antique furniture and woodworking shop a couple states away, and this one is here in my shop. afcaforum.com/view_topic.php?id=49508

Thank you!
Popping the ball open with the screwdriver gave me Demon Core reminders. It certainly was ugly in there! And full of sulphur to boot
LOL that is very true! Thankfully I didn't end up with a criticality event in my workshop!
Very neat ball top refrigerator of the 1920s

What is the fan? That's one I don't remember seeing in any of your videos.
